    Some more stuff...

Has anyone here have experiences with the TAMIYA SPRAY WORKS (airbrush by tamiya)?

Is it advisable to get this gadget?

And does anyone know what kind of paint and brand is used to make model kits (cars primarily) to be shinny and looks like its fresh from the showroom or car show?

    Thanks.

    p.s.
Ive got the phone numbers of all the STC (Specialty Toys Center) shops and would be posting them here soon (nasa bahay kasi eh).

Hmmm...I've seen it na, Nova Fontana in greenhills sells it. Not familiar with the price though.

Personally, I'd opt for the commercial/generic compressors, and I'd invest on the "gun" itself.

    .
gloss paint is preferred for car paints. Gunze sangyo, testors and tamiya are the brands usually used for cars. Never use citadel paints for cars.

last summer, there was an airbrush at the SM city hardware selling for P700+. I don't know if it is suitable for model kits and paints. The cheapestt compressor was P4,000. ACE hardware sells a copressor for less than 1k, dont buy this because it is only suitable for tires.

Ok Tamiya spray works. These come in two kinds the standard one and the HG or High grade versions. These are single action air brushes(meaning you can only control the airflow). I've tested both and they're pretty much ok for painting, The standard version comes with a compressor while the HG version comes with the compressor separate. They're ok in my opinion specially the HG version. I would also recommend using them for teaching beginners the thing is for using them for life I'd rather go for the Badger 150 airbrushes. They have almost the same price and have more parts readily available even at national book store. The advantage of the Badger is they're double action(you control both airflow and paint flow) giving you more control. for compressors look around for those with large pressure tanks they don't require the pump to be on all the time like tamiya. The only nice thing going for the tamiya compressors are they're portable(if you buy the battery and charger). weigh their qualities ahd how long you plan to use them then invest. ciao advice: if the price difference is only about a thou go for the more expensive one if it has better features.

I'm into car models too. Hirap talaga lalo na if you're going to be painting the body na, pahirapan talaga, dapat sobrang walang air as possible para smooth yung finish, take a lot of patience to achieve this. Tapos yung detailing sa loob ang hirap ren(if you're really into it). Although the satisfaction of looking at your finished car is so fulfilling.

Revell Kits are nice, kahit na american ang ganda nang quality nang styrene, medyo sablay yung pagka plastic-inject kasi daming "plastic-flashes", pero ayos lang!

*I searched that page na before, yung sa IPMS, yeah pag meron local chapter sali talaga ako, mukhang kelangan nga magaling, but hey everyone's gotta start somewhere! hehehe

MeowPao: Enriquez Art Supply is located near the corner of C.M. Recto and Avenida (i think Rizal Avenue na ang name ng street).

Landmark: Theres a closed down Cindys restaurant at the corner. Lakad ka sa side nyun papuntang... uhmn... basta lakad ka palayo ng Isetann. About 3-4 shops or stalls/businesses away eh Enriquez Art Supply na.

    Good luck! "_

I "mod" my models. Usually if I get my hands on some vintage care(usually muscle cars) tapos meron ako mga mercedes, usually either american or european cars, di pa ako umpisa sa mga japanese eh, can't find the right one I want. Siguro baka 4x4's gawin ko na japanese.

    Hmm...interesting.

Oh yeah, I went to Virra Mall over the weekend, and I visited this toystore I discovered when I was a froshie in college. It's called "Best Toys". Yung sa may eskinita between this watch store and Collezione'.

La lang, I was really surprised with the new line of toys, medyo puro McFarlane nga lang, but hey! Toys never did become way too detailed. And of course. Expensive. Just wanted to share.
