Lightbulb UPIS - UP Integrated School

Hi UPIS studes/alumnae/parents/teachers! How's the quality of education at UPIS right now? How's it compared to other private/public High Schools? Is it still better than most, if not all, public schools in the country?

I'm really hoping that my child will pass next year's Kinder Admission Test at UPIS as I believe this is the only entry point. I've learned that the exam is pretty competitive, especially for non-UP dependents considering the large number of examinees.

Feel free to share your views, opinions and/or any information on this. Thanks!!!

UPIS to Accept 14 New Freshmen for AY 2009-2010
    posted 03.04.2009

UP Diliman Chancellor, Dr. Sergio Cao recently approved the reopening of lateral admission at grade 7 (1st year high school) to fill the slots to be vacated by Grade 6 students who have been accepted and have opted to enroll in Science High Schools. The order specifies 5 slots for varsity scholarship (basketball) and the rest (9 slots for the coming school year) for general admissions procedures.

Interested non-varsity applicants should be currently enrolled in grade 6 or grade 7 (in institutions offering elementary education up to grade 7). They must have an average grade of 85% (or its equivalent in another grading system) for the first 3 quarters of this school year. An admissions test will be admistered to these applicants on March 28, 2009. Application forms are available at the Office of the Principal.

    Arrow entrance exam

I've read somewhere na entrance exam time na sa UPIS. I can only imagine the kind of pressure most parents of this year's takers are feeling right now. Oh well, next year ako naman.

How's the exam kaya? I'm hoping di naman sya "toxic" for the kids
