    Hidden but very nice restaurants

Hi guys! Let me just share a restaurant that was shown to me by my friend. It's called Cookbook Kitchen and it's a really hidden place in Mandaluyong. If you don't know where it is, malabong makita nyo to. However, this place is truly one of the best places to eat in the Metro because of the quality of the food, the serving, and it's actually quite affordable!

One of their best dishes is the Parmesan Crusted White Fish. It's just P260 but man oh man it's really good. This is also good for two so it's really not bad in terms of price.

I don't have the map there but I can share the address. Here it is: #8 Socorro Fernandez Street Corner Luna Mencias, Mandaluyong City.

How about you guys? Meron kayo alam na sobrang tago pero sobrang panalong restaurant?

it's somewhere near the border of mandaluyong and san juan, shaw boulevard side. Luna Mencias is just a short street, connecting shaw boulevard and p. guevarra.

    try vieux chalet in antipolo

try also fat micheals in bankal

i don't think cafe juanita would qualify as hidden. it's quite famous now.

I think the TS means by hidden is that it's not located particularly in commercial areas / malls.

Another restaurant that might qualify in this category would be Lime 88 in San Rafael St. also in Mandaluyong.

There's also a hidden restaurant somewhere in the area behind Sto. Domingo Church, I just forgot the name. Masarap din doon.

    ah, ok.

    i misunderstood.

grabe na rin kasi ang dumog ng tao sa cafe juanita. i think this was since somebody wrote that this was imelda marco's fave restaurant and where they usually have their sunday dinners.

    and remember myradel in paco?

medyo masama na chicken nila, not as great as before. masarap lang mangarera at magsugal dun kasi malamig yung beer.

Tried out Cookbook Kitchen last night and we had a nice time. We were there around 9PM and the place was packed!

I tried the Parmesan Crusted White Fish and my wife had the Adobo Pasta (IIRC). The fish was great and it's really good for two. The pasta had lots of very tender adobo pieces and it tasted closer to salpicao because of the amount of garlic they used (which to us garlic addicts is a good thing).

We had the Scarlet Cake for desert and it was "different". The color and texture reminded us of pan-de-regla. The sweet icing and generous amount of cocoa powder balanced the somewhat bland cake.

Overall we found it good value for money. We're definitely going back to try out their other offerings

Banapple on Katipunan is also nice. The only downside I can think of is that the place is small and parking is at a premium. Out of the 5 times we went there (different times different days) we were only able to get a decent parking space once.

There's also a resto in capitolyo we used to go to before when i was still working in the ortigas area. It's called 3 sisters. I'm not sure if its still around but they serve delicious sinigang, and other pinoy dishes.
