Homo Evolutis - the ultimate "reboot"

    http://www.wimp.com/technologyevolution/

This is a great video taken from a funny and inspiring TED talk by Juan Enriquez that starts out discussing the current financial crisis and then progresses towards the bleeding edge in biotech, AI and robotics research.

The speculation is that Homo Sapiens will eventually give way to Homo Evolutis, hominids that take direct and deliberate control over the evolution of their species and other species.

I would definitely consider this a singularity event.

Frankly, once you start to think in terms of the science being discussed in this video, it will not be long before you will regard the other posters polluting this forum with their religious cr@ptalk with the same curious regard and distance as we do, say, african natives who still believe in talismans and voodoo. As in, do we even waste time bothering to debate these people regarding their arbitrary superstitious beliefs?

It's inevitable! we'll be fiddling with our genes real soon. I hope I get to live long enough to see any of this.

^ Interesting thing is if we do live long enough to see it, we'll end up living much longer because of it.
