since you mentioned that you're also studying sa instituto cervantes, why dont you ask around perhaps from your clasmates if there are anybody who has experience sa call center na spanish account tapos share mo dito by the way, I once had a professor there who used to work as an agent for a spanish account. ask around, her name is armis bajar i think she used to work in etelecare. I never got the chance to ask her since she was sent to spain (if im not mistaken) when she was our professor

meron akong dalawang kaklase sa instituto,yung isa QA sya sa west contact service, sabi nya sakin ang offer daw ngayn sa spanish support e 40k, *** isa naman, agent sya sa kgb/infonxx, plus 25 to 30k naman ang offer sa kanila sa spanish support

Hi there! I am a bilingual agent myself and I could say that the compensation is really huge. Right now I am earning around 40k being a bilingual agent in a call center in the Fort area.

There are a lot of call centers looking for bilingual particularly Spanish-speaking agents like Convergys, Sitel, APAC and others.. Even FactSet which is a data collection company is looking for someone who can read and write perfectly in Spanish.

Generally, the minimum language allowance that you can get is around 15k. But adding that up to your basic pay, you may receive a minimum of around 30k.

I had problems starting out as bilingual agent because I was not used to the accent. It is very different from what you study in class. Take note that the Spanish we study in IC is Castillian Spanish and not Latin American Spanish. There are definitely differences in terms of the vocabulary and pronunciation. I could remember one instance when I said "las pilas" to one of my customers and he couldn't understand it. Apparently in Mexico or the like, they say, "las batterias". So take note of that.

Bilingual agents are also getting less calls as compared to English-Speaking ones. I get an average of 5 calls a day. But because of that, our TL has decided to put me to the English queue as well. Not much issue for me. You'll get bored and stupid if you just take 5 calls a day.

To prep you up for this job, I'd suggest you start speaking and writing in Spanish now. You cannot be average in Spanish. You really have to be fluent as customers do not really have the patience to make you understand things. But usually, after taking calls for 3-4 months, you'll start to get used to the accent and speaking Spanish would just become second nature to you.

There is a call center programme in IC for those aspiring bilingual agents. It's definitely worth the investment.

Thanks for the advice. Level 12 ako ngayon sa instituto cervantes. Mag-aapply siguro ako sa spanish account kapag level 16 nako. Marami na rin akong classmate na nagtatrabaho sa spanish account. Yung dalawa kong classmate sa Thompson and Reuters sila nagwowork (spanish non-voice). 40k din ang salary nila, tapos day shift pa (6am to 2pm). Wala lang vacant ngayon. Pero marami na talagang company na may spanish account ngayon. Sana i-share din ng iba mga experiences nila =)

Actually, kahit level 8 lang ang Spanish mo pwede na din... I reached level 8 before I started working for a bilingual account. Of course, major adjustments plus the kaba 'cause I've never talked to non-English speakers before.

Key is practice.. practice.. practice... Make it a habit to read a Spanish news article everyday. Try to watch TVE at least 30 minutes per day. What I personally did is I downloaded Spanish telenovelas and watched 1 episode a day Really helped me a lot!

Hi nkaka encourage to all people who is stduying Spanish already..YOUR LEVEL 12 wow, for how many months did you get tht level? I have a friend who encouraged me to learn Spanish too, he is studying his M.A @ UP so he is sharing his blessings, he will give us free class twice a week. So I will join that and I'm planning to get my M.A too @ UP to learn more... He also informed about the CERTUTU but i guess it's expensive there..
My friend learned spanish for 5 months and he already worked @ WEST and somewhere in CUBAO and now @ LIBIS as spanish Agent and of course he earned huge amount.. So i want to learn too...

I will learn this language anytime this time, in fact i am writing down some words and memorizing the alphabets and also i listened to some audio files..

malaki talaga ang sahod, doble o triple ng sahod ng isang call center agent sa english account. Kunsabagay, dapat lang, sa mahal ba naman kase ng tuition ng spanish course hehe

I'd have to agree with JobSeeker22, bawi talaga investments mo once you land a job. I had the same experience, I was in the middle of lvl 8 when a job opening in Jobstreet got my attention, they were then looking for spanish process owner. You need to pass the language exam in berlitz, your premium salary will then be based on the results. Ayun, basta the key is to practice constantly. I took my classes for 5-6 straight mos., puro intensive classes ang kinuha ko nun, ***** eh bawing bawi na heheh. Basta patience, determination, and of course learn to love the language that you're tryin to learn, it's much easier to learn if you love what you are studyin. Btw the company is IBM, the thing is that when you start workin in a spanish account, you constantly learn, so anu pa iniintay nyu?

Btw, I do calls, mails, and backoffice work all at the sametime. We use both english and spanish as medium of communication. In a day I receive around 5-10 calls, and do a lot of mails XD.....and my gross salary is around 35k+++, it's not too big but comparing it to other work eh mejo okay na rin..
