It certainly took me a while, but I've posted about my Myanmar trip in my blog. Links can be found here:

    Burmese Days Pt2
    Burmese Days Pt3

I think it's one of the last remaining countries in Southeast Asia that hasn't yet been overrun with tourists.

Visa on arrival now available for most nationalities to Myanmar, including Filipinos.

Visa-on-arrival issued at two Myanmar international airports

YANGON: Visa-on-arrival is being issued to foreign visitors arriving at Myanmar's two main international airports of Yangon and Mandalay since the beginning of this month, China's Xinhua news agency reported citing the local weekly 7-Day News on Wednesday.

The visa is granted on compliance with 17 rules including the visitor's declaration on his address after he enters the country.

The visa is categorized as tourist visa, business visa and transit visa, the report said, adding that visa application can be made online.

Previously, international travelers have to apply for Myanmar entry visa by transiting through such countries as Singapore and Thailand where Myanmar embassies are based.

The report disclosed that so far, four Filipinos have been granted with such visas since May 1.

In June last year, aimed at expediting visa services, a private travel company, the Diamond Palace, made a test introduction of online visa-on-arrival service system.

Normally, international travelers applying entry visas into Myanmar through Myanmar embassies abroad have to take four days in Beijing, 24 hours in Jakarta, five days in Paris and Tokyo, three days in London and two days in Bangkok and Singapore, according to the Myanmar Foreign Ministry earlier.

Customers seeking visa through domestic travel and tour companies have to apply 15 days in advance on presentation of their personal data.

According to official statistics, tourists arrivals in Myanmar hit 227,400 in the calendar year of 2009, up 25 percent compared with 2008.

I want to go to Burma , but I cant imagine the idea of travelling alone so lookin for travel buddies. I entered Myanmar border last year via Chiangrai in Northern Thailand but thats, I only stayed for 4 hours as my passport are with the border police, scary thing. I want to enter through airport in Yangoon all the way to Bagan. Anybody who has plans? This is the only Asian country which I did not explored yet.

^How about Air Asia via KL? I wonder if it is cheaper. I know there are also flights coming out of Bangkok but heard they are sort of pricey too.

Kyle, mas maganda direct since were just comin from SG..but if ur coming from Mnl, it might be cheaper via KL than via BKK on Air Asia. The BKK-Yangoon is very popular as they are the only budget airline flying that route with has just 1 flight daily.

  15. #35
well there is no Air Asia flight from KL to Yangon...only BKK to Yangon...mura ata ngayon since may promo flights ang Air Asia...sino punta dito...sama ako!!mga jan or Feb next year???

  16. #36
wow I love that idea, Kobe20. pwde sumama? ^_^ I wanna go to Myanmar din. wah! ano ba itinerary nito? ano plans ninyo?

  17. #37
^^ Sorry, Bangkok nga pala ang Air Asia hindi KL. Anyway, this will be exciting. Sana may feedback yung iba regarding VOA. Otherwise, siguro mas safe pa din kumuha na lang dito ng visa bago umalis.
