On a side note, let this be an informative thread as well. Can anyone provide UST's complete and updated list of COE's and COD's? To set the records straight na rin.

Maybe Ate Vi and Galileo can supply those.

    1. It aggrevates pressure among Highschool seniors. Others would just enroll in any program (even if they know hell nothing what it is) so long as they get to study in UST, and mess up their lives afterwards.

    2. It creates confusion. Imagine a Highschool senior being told that he/she cannot enroll in his first and second choice, but is given a LOOOoonngg list of programs he/she might want to consider. Its just nuts.

    3. Chances of getting admitted via Acad Placement is vague. Are you less preferred over the one who passed for the program as a second choice? Are they below the waitlisted applicants? What? Which? Again, nuts.

    4. It creates a false impression that Academic Placement means passing the USTET, which is not the case. It may be true that they DID pass the USTET but their scores were lower than those who did qualify as "PASSED". Hence the phrase "Pasado ako pero Academic Placement". Duh... Academic Placement means LAST CHANCE and not PASSED and ACCEPTED.

The Admissions office cares too much for an applicant's feelings... why don't they just put FAILED and let the applicants apply for reconsideration ontheir own? Kung gustong gusto talaga nila sa UST, gagawin nila lahat ng paraan para makapasok... even if it means writing a letter of appeal. Academic Placement spoils the applicants... very un-college.

I think the Admissions office should revise their method of reconsidering applicants... Academic Placement sucks.
uhm, my reply might be a reckless one but what you posted does not apply to all..let's say that they did not pass the course that they want but they still pass other courses where they reach the quota. i get your point but your opinion is not the correct one and i'm not saying mine's also correct either.

    4. academic placement means passing ustet but not the course they have chosen..that would be the definition right?

and if you have any appeal, please do write a letter to the admission office.[peace]

    RE: Academic Placement

    1. Let's just accept the fact that some courses are able to attract droves of applicants (and correspondingly, able to filter out and choose the best and the brightest among them) while some are just unfortunate (that's why these programs have lower quotas compared to other programs, just so to attract applicants).

    2. Not all USTET passers go to UST. A fraction of them go elsewhere, even the waitlisters. That's why the University, in my opinion, created this buffer system called "Academic Placement" to fill-up the desired number of students per program. If the admin failed to secure the required number of enrollees from the first and second choice passers and waitlisters, they'll resort to those who met the minimum University quota/score (academic placement).

    1. Architecture is the best in UST.

The College of Architecture has produced two of the four National Artists for architecture -- Thomasians Leandro Locsin [1990 awardee] and Ildefonso Santos, Jr. [2006 awardee]. The other two, Pablo Antonio [1976 awardee] and Juan Nakpil [1973 awardee] were foreign trained [Antonio - University of London; Nakpil - Fountainbleu School of Fine Arts, Paris].

At present, Thomasian architects still lead the way. Among them:

Felino Palafox. His company, Palafox Associates is sought-after internationally and is ranked 94th in the World Architecture Top 200 [2006 edition; the only southeast asian in the list!].

Francisco Manosa. Cited by Asiaweek as one of seven visionary architects in Asia, his firm Francisco Manosa and Partners is known to specialize in contemporary environmental and tropical designs.

    2. Engineering course kinuha at tinapos ko kasi mahusay ako sa math!

Nope, wala silang specific uniform basta corpo attire lang. Anyway, to make it more specific, lahat ng undergraduate studies sa UST ay may uniform.

    Course ko: BS Nursing

    Reason: chiks.

i've heard that UST CoN is one of, if not, the best College of Nursing here in the Philippines. Many of the professors have their PhD or EdD degrees. Facilities are good, everything is updated (well, except for a few broken projectors and podia here and there), classrooms are very comfortable as each one is cooled by not one but two A/C units, security is tight (no one can enter the building without a valid ID), and the surroundings are very clean. The grade requirement is very high, making sure that only the best students graduate and represent the university not only here in the Philippines but also anywhere in the world.

as for freshmen, you might want to check something out at the 4th floor of the med bldg.

    haha.

yup. the smell comes from the anatomy gallery in the 4th floor, specifically from the chemical methanal, more commonly known as formalin, used in preserving the specimens up there.

have you been to the hallway at the back of 1st and 2nd floor ng med bldg?

maganda din don, pampagana bago kumain...

  15. #95
^ madalas kami doon... masarap mag review doon kasi tahimik saka wala masyado tao.
