Excited for Carrie's new song and album!

Carrie Underwood announces new album, single

Carrie Underwood said her fans stopped believing her when she told them her new album would be available “soon.”

“They are like, ‘We hate the s word, quit saying it. Tell us when,’” Underwood quoted.

She made believers of them Thursday afternoon. Underwood announced plans for new single “Smoke Break” and new album “Storyteller” on her Facebook page.

“Smoke Break” is the lead single from "Storyteller," the singer’s first collection of new material since “Blown Away” in 2012. The song could start being played on country radio Thursday, and fans can look for “Storyteller” in stores Oct. 23.

“I feel like this is a good representation of where the album ended up,” Underwood said of the relatable, working people’s anthem that she recorded with producer Jay Joyce. “I’m influenced by a lot of different kinds of music and styles of music, but this just ended up with a really nice twang that I feel like is really fresh for me.”

Underwood penned the song with frequent collaborators Hillary Lindsey and Chris DeStefano. She said the trio was writing on one of the first nice days last year when they hit a creative wall and decided to go outside and take a break.

“I was like ‘Yeah, smoke break is a good name for a song,’ ” Underwood recalled. “‘What does that mean?’ That was where we went with it. We all get stressed out in life, and everybody is just trying to keep up. It’s nice to be relatable in a song, and whatever that break is for you, you can go take it. Whether it’s sitting back with a glass of wine or stepping outside for a minute, just get away and have a moment for yourself.”

The song leans more toward traditional country music than many of Underwood’s contemporary hits -- a direction that she said was by design.

“I want to sound different, and I want to sound like me,” she said. “If you turn on the radio and it’s almost the same song playing over and over again, it’s nice to feel like I’m doing something to stand out and break it up.”

Underwood found out she was pregnant with now 6-month-old son Isaiah when she started working on the album last year, which forced her to put the project on hold. She released greatest hits package “Carrie Underwood: Greatest Hits Decade #1” to tide fans over, and then spent the added months perfecting “Storyteller,” her fifth studio album.

“Musically (I had) extra time and could really think, ‘What do I want to do?’ ” she said. “(The pregnancy) gave me lots of extra time to listen to more demos and write more songs because what else was I going to do when I was eight or nine months pregnant? I’ve been listening to a lot of these, some of them almost two years, and if they still rise to the top, that must say something about them.”

The digital single for “Smoke Break” will go on sale 11 p.m. tonight (Thursday). A clip of of the song is streaming online now at www.carrieunderwoodofficial.com.

Ang cute ng song na yan.

Pero sa Storyteller ang Church Bells talaga ang fav ko sa lahat. Di ba nominated siya dahil sa song na ito?

    Sana manalo uli.
