the author (stephenie) in fact knew what she was carrying out but on the other hand twilight is a swift read...

the way of thinking for that i arrive to find is that the author for twilight isn't a real author...

she is just an amature mom who was just writing for the hell of it...

do you think stephenie has the capacity of a half dead gnat?

stand by me and the green mile are the best adaptations IMO...

those two jolted me when i was a kid, that damn clown...

i love misery too, but an even better novel.

To add: Green Mile (5/6 books) to an almost 3 hour flick!? Classic.

    yep twilight is lame

Twilight fans are most likely not vampire fans per se, but fans of teenage-love-and-sexual-tension/frustration stories. It's definitely mainstream. (On the other hand HP, while mainstream, is absolutely a wonderful piece of fiction.) Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles are still the best, if you ask me, if you're talking about vampires and what they are all about really - death and existential dilemmas. There is no way Meyer's series is close to that.

Whatever her faults as a writer, let's give credit where it is due: Stephenie Meyer has managed to make readers out of a lot of young people - which is a fantastic thing. I'd say it is immesurably preferable to see teenagers spending time pouring over the Twilight books than wasting it watching The Hills or playing Ragnarok Online.

Of course, one hopes that in time these people will move on to the more sophisticated stuff: King, Clive Barker, Ramsey Campbell, Robert McCammon, Richard Matheson (and for the Harry Potter crowd: Tolkien, Robert E. Howard, Michael Moorcock, Terry Pratchett). Or, even better: science fiction.

    "Fantasy is the impossible made possible;
science fiction is the improbable made probable."

    -- Arthur C. Clarke

Or even better, Greek tragedies. And read them in Greek.

looks like stephen king wants to be in the limelight again. lol.

King must still be gloating after he was awarded with a lifetime achievement award and everyone from the literary community bashed the choice

Do I need to read Beowulf in Old English to truly appreciate it?

Heck, if you can understand Chaucer in Middle English you should be high.

My point is, the bashers of Twilight are mostly fans of other even more bashable media. As I've said a month ago, watch/read the real classics instead of LOTR or HP.

    hahaha...
    anu ka ba?!
may sariling bampira si Stephenie Meyer...
    hahaha...

I do agree with the article saying that d ganun ka effective si Stephenie Meyer as a writer but I think telling it to her by means of media (from a well established author) was a way BELOW THE BELT...

I am not a fan of her nor of the Twilight but I felt sorry for her

it doesn't take a genius to figure out that twilight is a work of horror.
