How to commute from Kansai Airport going to Umeda Sky Building? May train ba na masasakyan and until what time open sila? TIA
We also did this. Cebu Pacific was late for 1 hour. We ran really fast and came in ahead of the immigration queue then took the bus going to Osaka station. If you don't move fast and be late in the immigration queue, you'll miss the bus for sure. You'll have to walk for about 15 mins from where the bus drops you to the Willer boarding point. We took the bus because it was hard to get our luggage into the trains. Willer has instructions for how to get from the bus stop to the boarding area. Good luck! 400 cheapest meal (yoshinoya, sukiya, etc). Suggested hotel: Chisun Hotel Shinsaibashi (6K yen and good buffet breakfast for another 1K yen) - you are near the shopping areas and near the train line for USJ (1 day for 6,200K yen) and Osaka castle (free, no need to enter) + Tutenkaku Tower (1 day, free). You can go to Nara (budget for around 1,500 yen train fare) as well as Kaiyukan (1 day, 2K yen)

day 2: it was raining so bad trip. i tried to figure out how the train system works. confusing kasi unlike other trains, you don't buy it in the vendo by selecting the destination.. it's by the amount of your destination. arrived in umeda then rode a train to kyoto. medyo matagal kasi yung nasakyan ko pala is yung maraming stops (i don't know how to distinguish which train yung mas konti yung stops to kyoto). i arrived in kyoto then i decided to buy the bus pass. went to ginkakunji but under renovation pala so i just walked a bit along the philosophy path then rode a bus until nanzenji and went inside Sanmon: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...n/IMG_2971.jpg Then, rode a bus until the stop near heian shrine http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...n/IMG_3073.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...n/IMG_3047.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...n/IMG_3059.jpg then lakad ulit until i reached this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...n/IMG_3110.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...n/IMG_3100.jpg ...

    b|ued, where na you?

i want to go Kyoto this time na talaga. sayang nga ang layo ng paggalingan ko, Nagoya pa, day trip lang hihi...naghahanap ako ng matinong itinerary.

will explore Kyoto later today, good luck to me!

    i love the weather, 15C!

and the temperature dropped to 11C and i only had a thin dress covered by a cardigan.

and i left Nagoya quite late because i was so tired from my delayed flight the night before. i didn't take the shinkansen because it was so expensive. i got on the local train which took almost two hours though much cheaper at 2250 yen (1125 pesos, mahal pa din!) one-way.

i arrived Kyoto past 12 pm and I could not bring myself to go out of the station because it was cold, so what i did was look for a tour bus and i manage to get in one, kasama ng mga lolo at lola hehehe. the tour included Kinkakuji and Kiyomizudera, okay na din considering na malalayo siya and i don't think i could make it there on my own in such a short time. the tour cost me 33oo yen.

i intended to stop by Gion and also walk the Philiospher's Path but the cold prevented me hehe, well anyway okay na din yun. I had to catch the train back again to Nagioya din kasi, gabi na nga ako nakauwi. buti my hotel was just a short walk from Nagoya Station.

hi guys! we will be going to osaka next month. its going to be a long 7 day vacation. we have no plans of going to tokyo so we will just be in osaka and nearby areas.

what areas should we visit? is it best to just stay in one hotel then commute everyday? what we have in our minds is to visit kyoto, nara and maybe hiroshima? thanks

Doable naman po. Though I think morning only for Osaka Aquarium and Osaka Castle might be a rush.. probably until early afternoon would be good.

Day 3.. not sure if you still have time.. but if you do, you can do a day trip to Kyoto. Kinkakuji and Kiyomizedera Temple are 2 attractions you must not miss. The latter, ideally puntahan nyo in time for the magnificent sunset.

    HTH.

Best to stay in different hotels in different locations. Magastos din mag-commute from say, Osaka to Kyoto and vice versa.

Are you referring to JR Japan Rail Pass (nationwide)? Alam ko yun lang ang may > 7 days na unlimited ride entitlement.

    Japan Rail Passes

Meron din palang JR West Rail Pass. Dapat pala yun na lang kinuha namin last time (we went to Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto in Dec 2009 hehe).

I didn't fly solo. Did Tokyo-Osaka-Kyoto with my wife and daughter. In no time during our trip did we feel unsafe. Feeling of security is kind of similar (probably better) than Singapore po (where I'm based).

ah really, so ok lang magtravel solo? hehe, wow, parang itutuloy ko na to search search na ng todo

sobrang layo ba ng osaka-tokyo, then tokyo-kyoto then kyot-nara, tpos nara-osaka?
ilang oras po ba ang travel time (each)?

Hmm... we took the Puratto Kodama Economy Plan @ 10k yen for our Tokyo-Osaka trip. The trip took about 4 hours by shinkansen (bullet train). Marami-rami rin kasi syang stop overs. May faster options though you'll have to pay more.

Looking at what you intend to do, you should get a 7 days Japan Rail Pass.

I do think you should consider re-arranging your itinerary though. Perhaps Osaka -> Kyoto -> Nara -> Tokyo -> Osaka. On a bullet train... mabilis lang travel in between mga yan.
