Hi Guys
Just wanted you to have some tidbits in the morning when you get up, because we will be sleeping. We are on pacific time. zzzzz.
Anyway, so the venue really didn't have a plan on how they were getting people to the event tonight, who got tickets etc. So there were about 50 different scenarios. So between Xanadu and me, and then Zoo, Amy and Cheryl, we just did every single option.
And low and behold, tonight, all things worked. VIP passes, comp tickets, room key, and $30. We just got in the VIP line, but others that used the other options got in too.
There were about 400-500 people in a room 1/3 the size of HRC. So it was pretty packed by the time
David, and EEB came to the stage. It was a small stage and low ceilings, so very intimate.
The band played Declaration and Light on. To film for the main jib cameras. Then they went off stage for 15 minutes. Came back on, sang the two same songs, but lighting changed and they filmed cut shots and close up from the stage angle.
David seemed really happy that people were singing and he looked back at the band, like he does, and gave them the smirk, kind of pleased with himself smile when people sang along. The crowd was the least DC fan filled audience that I have seen to date. So alot of people we met, just happned to hear on the Strip that DC was going to be there and they came just beause they were handed a flyer (kind of a flash in the pan way to hope you get a crowd).
But it wasn't nearly as full as Scott Weiland last night, but tonight is a night the club is usually closed. But it was a totally good respectable crowd.
Unfortunately I can never see Andy, because I always stand stage Left, but today I could tell Andy was totally rocking out. And of course, Neal is a superstar (who acknowledged Xanadu and me when the lighting changed and you could see the crowd).
Something I thought was very interesting was that all the Label, and executives or whoever they were who accompanied David, were very happy and you could see them bobbing their heads, and kind of high five attitude at the performance. I had seen a few of them at other performances, but many were new faces and it seemed to me they were acting like David hit a home run.
Too bad for only two songs (which they sang twice) but at 1am; that is all I really needed.
Xanadu has pictures, which i hope she puts up tomorrow, but my pictures stink, so I will refrain.
Sorry if the cell cast sucked, but the venue was in the middle of the hotel and it was literaly a bunker and 25 floors above us, so reception was bad just normally and then it might have gotten worse when someone hit the table and my phone fell into my Malibu rum and pineapple juice drink.. hope you guys enjoyed that. But it reminded me of the early days when we heard really really bad cell casts from the AI Tour. I used blackberry on speaker, just like we did when cell casts were good, but the reception just stunk. Sorry.
Well, cannot think of one way I would have rather spent NYE. Oh yea. i can think of five reasons, David, Neal, Andy, Kyle and Joey. What dolls they are.
Happy New Year!!! Viva Las Vegas.
