It's not that I don't know how to play basketball. It's just that "bano" lang talaga ako. HAHAHAHA. I dunno, I'm just not good at it.

But I studied basketball not in school but in a basketball camp headed by legendary PBA Players like Mon Fernandez.

I do watch UAAP,NBA and PBA pero hanggang nuod lang and yes I understand the game, rules and terms they use pero pag actual game na ayoko wala ako interest.

we all know kasi dito sa pilipinas number 1 talaga ang basketball and boxing of course kasi it's a cheap sport what I mean is kahit sa kalye or sa tabi tabi ka lang pwede ka na gumawa ng sarili mong court. Marami murang BBall net and balls dyan.

I myself was born and raised here sa philippines but I seem to enjoy playing Golf and Tennis. Yes it's a very expensive game in terms of the equipments used. I don't consider myself and my family rich but I see this as an investment and I only learned how to play these sports through cable TV. Minsan pag nagyayaya mga barkada ko maglaro ng basketball dito I see to it na may magandang palusot ako just to avoid the embarassment. I feel a little bit out of place. HAY BUHAY

Same here...I did try my hand at b-ball during my younger years but it never got me hooked. I can't even seem to appreciate watching the game on TV (NBA or PBA)...nevertheless, when cousins/nephews/friends go discuss b-ball talk, ah keri naman ako.

I prefer tennis, swimming and soccer(football).

Never loved boxing either (Manny Pacquiao notwithstanding)...can't even stand watching a boxing match on TV. I'd agree, though, on the cardio-vascular benefits of boxing.

i'm good in other sports as well - got some medals and trophies in small club tennis tournaments and i used to be good in windsurfing, although i stopped after an almost-fatal accident.

i think it's not in the sport but in the manner you play

in any sport, usually, guys play with brute force, and very simple clinical moves lang to generate force, walang masyadong arte ang movements pag naglaro.

na-observe ko lang sa tennis, yong medyo ba-bading-bading, they're more of tacticians than power hitters. pag pumalo sila ng malakas, parang kelangan ng malaking effort and andaming unnecessary extra body movements kapag pumalo.

    saan yan?
for me, hindi kaso kung hindi marunong magbasketball yung isang tao. like what the others have said, madami naman ibang sport dyan na gagamitan den ng skills (physically).
marunong ako mag-basketball pero i dont brag about it. i use it as a form of exercise. hindi ren kse ako magaling hehe. i have 5 brothers and mahilig lahat sila sa basketball. pero 3 lang yata kame na talagang nakakapaglaro ng basketball *** iba hanggang nood na lang sa tv hehe. halos puro lalake ren kame magpipinsan and mahilig lahat sa basketball and i would say na hindi ka naman tutuksuhin kung hindi ka marunong.
i only can play basketball, volleyball and softball/baseball.. aside from those wala na. i even envy the others who can play other sports such as tennis and swimming. hehe

May wife naman pala yung TS eh, kinda late to be having an identity crisis dontcha think?

    Anyway OT:

Pag totoong men marunong magbasketball. Marunong magdribble ng hindi nagdo-double dribble, marunong magpasa, marunong mag rebound, alam lahat ng rules and most important of all...marunong mag shoot.

Pag pa-men, mahilig lang manood ng basketball tsaka alama lahat ng stats and history and background ng mga poging players at galit sa panget kahit na magaling na player. Pag binato ng bola iilag sabay tili "aaaay!!!". Iiyak pag tinamaan.

I really don't know how to play basketball and I'm not interested to learn this particular sports. Sana magfocus tayo sa ibang sports, like sa Indonesia and India, sikat na sikat ang Football.

    But I'm definitely not gay!

    That's...plain silly.

Never got interested in playing basketball, kahit nung elem pa ako when almost all the guys play... Iyon nga lang, yung mga nakikilala ko, they always ask me if I play dahil sa height ko, which is quite ironic talaga. Oh well.

    di din ako marunong magbasketball.

i don't even enjoy watching basketball.

in fact bobo ako basta ball sports. (except for pool)

lets push the envelope further, tamad ako.

however, i do enjoy statistics. kaya nung college habang ang mga kaklase ko naglalaro ng basketball o kaya natataranta sa ncaa, ako nagtayo ng sarili kong bookies.

    sa pustahan lang ako nahilig.

  18. #38

somehow, there's some explanation to this.

theory ko: the kind of hobby you have is brought about by your childhood history. kung one of the boys ka nung bata ka, malamang naglalaro ka ng basketball, kasi yon ang laro ng mga batang lalaki.

kung girls ang kalaro mo nung bata ka, malamang chinese garter or jackstone ang ginagawa nyo dati, or volleyball...hmmm...kaduda-duda

somehow, there's some truth to it. pero hindi naman fool-proof test yan. there's always an exception to the rule.

somehow, sports is something na dapat kinahiligan mo nung bata ka, or else, it's too late to be into it when you're already an adult. nagkataon lang na basketball ang pinaka-popular sport sa pilipinas, kaya more or less, yon ang sport ng kabataang lalaki. pero in some provinces/communities ibang sport ang popular (e.g., Iloilo/Negros - football; dasma/Forbes - Polo ; boracay - ultimate frisbee ang patok ngayon)

I never really learned to play basketball. Even when I was a kid, I was never interested in basket, to the extent na OP ako sa kuwentuhang school bus, but I never really cared. Playing basketball never interested me.

I don't think it is a guage of masculinity, it's just a sport, plain and simple as that.
