you can ask your nominated branch tomorrow if they already have your bpi direct savings card, if they dont have it yet pwede mo din inquire if yung online application mo is naprocess baka naman in transit na yung card, you ask them when the card probably be ready for pick-up. if, unfortunately, di pala naprocess then open ka na lang sa kanila and hoping makuha mo ang card by your desired date.
anyway, if you open an account tomorrow, pwede mo na gamitin yung account even without the card.

    @kittypryde03

yan nga yung gagawin ko tomorrow. If wala talaga, I'll open a regular atm express teller account na 500 with 3k maintaining. thanks sa advise.

Pumunta ako kanina sa nominated branch ko at sabi nila 1-2weeks matatapos yung process pati na yung atm. So yung kay mxherr5, yun ata talaga katagal.

Good sana to but I need it badly asap, so ayun nag open nalang muna ako ng express atm card - yung 500 initial at 3k maintaining, nakuha ko agad yung atm ko.

Yes, "branchless" ang BPI Direct but meron namang nominated branch which will cater deposit and OTC withdrawals. Pareho din yata ang required initial deposit and maintaining balance nila.

Pareho din sila ng online banking facility (bpiexpressonline.com).

    Thanks

guys im very interested to open a bpi direct savings account kasi malaki ang interest rate compared sa regular savings account. my question is, pag di ka nka deposit/fund transfer on the said account will they charge dormancy fee automatically? and how much din? baka kasi yung interest earned mahuhulog lang as dormancy charge. thanks in advance sa magrereply!

In some cases, dormancy fees will be deducted from your account if there is no client-initiated transaction for the applicable period (that depends on the bank, sometimes dormancy period is from six months, one year, two years, etc.) even if your account has sufficient funds on it.

On a different note, some banks charge a monthly fee if your account falls below the required MINIMUM balance, even if it falls only for a day.

It happened to me when I still had an account with BDO. Just so happened that they changed the status of my account from payroll to a regular savings so they deducted P200 each month. I immediately closed the account upon learning that they already took P400 from my account even if it had P4k. Their required minimum balance was P5k.

For BPI Direct, you can refer to the fees/charges here.

I think you're misguided about dormancy periods.. Its regulated by BSP.
    1 yr for current/checking
    2 yrs for savings

I've had accounts with UCPB,BDO,BPI,Malayan,Security,UnionBank,LBC Dev Bank and Banco Filipino and the terms and agreement always states 1 yr for current and 2 yrs for savings.

And if you would notice, I was speaking IN GENERAL, not specifying any type of account whatsoever. And since we are on the BPI Direct Savings, I attached the BPI Direct Fees/Charges for more clarity. I hope that would guide you as well.

Your answer would only make sense though if you had said that the dormancy period is either a year or 2 years depending on the type of account.

I'm not sure though if the 1yr/2yr dormancy period is the lowest threshold and the bank is free to modify it in favor of the depositor like say giving an account a dormancy period of 3yrs instead of just 1 year. Or maybe those 1yr/2yr limits are set in stone. I haven't found any source yet that answers that question.

But what I'm sure of though, is that the earliest an account of any type can be charged a dormancy fee would be on the 1st year.

But you said a bank could impose dormancy fees as early as the 6th month based on your earlier post, which is totally false.

I'm not trying to start a fight here or anything but in the interest of giving out accurate information, you might want to edit your post.

true, 6 months is very early for the banks to impose dormancy fees. and logically, it is actually unfair to the account holder. napakaigsing panahon lang yan.

  15. #55
for OFW accounts (BDO's Kabayan Savings, BPI's BPinoy) there's no maintaining balance but there should be remittance transaction once every 6 months. i don't know lang how much ang fee if ever walang transaction.

i overlooked this. having above required ADB will not prevent your account for being dormant if there was no transaction made (inactive) on a specified period by your bank.

there is dormancy/inactivity fee, then there is below maintaining balance fee.

sabi sakin ng staff ng BPI, dapt daw mauy movement lang yung acct within 2years

Again, let me say that I was speaking in GENERAL TERMS NOT SPECIFYING ANY TYPE OF ACCOUNT WHATSOEVER FOR SOME BANKS.

    One example would be this.

    "Dormancy / Service Charge

Generic Card - 180 days of no financial activity*
Personalized Card - 360 days of no financial activity*
    Service Charge - P 25.00 every month-end"

    https://mycashcard.com.ph/cashcard/p...q.jsp#dormancy

Sana nalinawan na that I'M NOT REFERRING TO ANY PARTICULAR ACCOUNT OR ANY BANK FOR THAT MATTER dahil alam kong we are on the BPI Direct thread. This serves only as a general guideline, no specifics whatsoever.

Oh, I see what you mean now.. Those cash card's aren't considered deposit accounts per se so I wasn't really thinking about them.

Yeah, I don't think BSP has any regulation about cash cards or e-money when it comes to dormancy periods.

    So I stand corrected there.

guys, question po, wala pa ako alam masyado sa BPI Direct but am planning to open an
Express Teller Savings Account yung 500 ang at least initial deposit.

wala pa akong existing account sa kahit anong BPI kaya parang lumalabas first time akong magoopen ng account at sa BPI Direct pa. possible ba yun?

    maraming salamat!!!
