Didn't Nolan say there's no Catwoman in the next installment? I think Anne Hathaway will only play the mousy Selina Kyle character and not her Catwoman alter ego.
Anyhoo, I'm sorta not surprised by this casting choice. All the female characters so far had been blah (Kate Holmes, Maggie Gyllenhal) compared to their male counterparts. I'm just glad its not Jessica Biel or Blake Lively.![]()
ugh. im not sure about Anne Hathaway. she's too chick flick-ish.
i think Marion Cotillard would be the best choice for the sultry, sexy and naughty Catwoman.
No I think Naomi Watts was for Vicky Vale (though with Selina Kyle confirmed with Hathaway I don't think the character will be in this installment which leaves the Talia character as the other female villain) and Eva for Talia. Won't there be scheduling conflicts for Eva Green? She'll be doing Arbitrage which is set to start filming spring this year. And Batman 3 is set to start May (principal photography is scheduled for May 6 and post commences on Nov 28).
Though I personally want Marion to wear the cat suit, i have faith in Nolan. call me a fanturd, but the guy has never failed since Memento, atleast in my book
yehey yehy may selina kyle or may catwoman din ba! like it!
anne hathaway pwede na ren pero i heard naconsider ren nila c keira knightley wahhh sayang siya actually gusto ko ren c kate beckinsale T_T I hope maganda pag portray ni anne kay selina! and im happy hindi black like halle berry the last time![]()
selinaxbruce ftw! shipper lang![]()
Yes I do prefer Eva Green for Talia.
Still, we know Hathaway can act, so we must not doubt the Nolan.![]()
Anne Hathaway!!!
I like her movies. She's everywoman.
Joseph Gordon Levitt is Alberto Falcone.

EXCLUSIVE: Now that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to re-team with his "Inception" director Christopher Nolan on "The Dark Knight Rises," the question turns to what role the actor will play.
Speculation has run rampant regarding the role, with blogs pegging the part as The Riddler or Deadshot, but insiders tell Variety that Gordon-Levitt will be playing Alberto Falcone, the son of Mafia chieftain Carmine Falcone, the character Tom Wilkinson played in "Batman Begins."
Alberto Falcone, who is also known as The Holiday Killer, would bring Nolan's superhero trilogy full-circle. The character fits with the helmer's stated intentions for continuity and preference to pit the Caped Crusader against "realistic" villains, as opposed to cartoonish nemeses such as Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy, who Batman battled in Joel Schumacher's 1997 misfire "Batman and Robin."
While Nolan has elected to keep fans in the dark -- for now -- what is known is that indie sensation Juno Temple is being eyed for a supporting role as a street-smart Gotham girl.
Warner Bros. and reps for both thesps declined to comment on casting and character rumors.
Nolan continues to fine-tune the script as the start of production grows closer. The Oscar-nominated filmmaker is also serving as a creative consultant on another WB superhero franchise, Zack Snyder's "Superman," which now has Henry Cavill, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane onboard.
"The Dark Knight Rises" is scheduled for release on July 20, 2012.
Since Gordon-Levitt was first reported last month as being in talks for "Dark Knight," he hasn't signed on for any more projects, and his summer remains wide open. Thesp next stars opposite Natalie Portman in the indie drama "Hesher," which Wrekin Hill recently acquired, with plans to release the long-delayed film in April. He'll also be seen alongside Seth Rogen in Jonathan Levine's cancer comedy "50/50," which Summit will release on Sept. 30.
Gordon-Levitt recently wrapped David Koepp's thriller "Premium Rush," which Columbia plans to open Jan. 13. He's currently filming Rian Johnson's sci-fi pic "Looper," which co-stars Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt.
Temple, who can now be seen in Jordan Scott's "Cracks" and Gregg Araki's "Kaboom," has two Sundance pics in the can -- Elgin James' "Little Birds" and last year's festival hit "Dirty Girl." She recently wrapped starring roles in the indies "Killer Joe" opposite Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch, as well as "Jack and Diane." Additionally, thesp plays Queen Anne in Paul W.S. Anderson's adaptation of "The Three Musketeers," and is gearing up to co-star in the indie thriller "A Single Shot."
Gordon-Levitt is repped by CAA, while UTA and Troika rep Temple.
Joseph Gordon Levitt is a great addition to the cast
Levitt is awesome! Sana lang di to' mag mukhang Inception!![]()
OMG. Chris Nolan is the Palpatine for the fans of this franchise and is playing them on both sides.
First Variety confirms JGL's roles, now EW is debunking it.

Joseph Gordon Levitt joins 'Dark Knight Rises'... but not as Falcone
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, long-rumored to be joining his Inception brethren in The Dark Knight Rises, will appear in director Christopher Nolan’s third Batman film. But a source close to the situation says that recent reports that Gordon-Levitt will play Alberto Falcone (a.k.a. the Holiday Killer) — the son of former mob kingpin, Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson) — are incorrect. So, Batman fans: Begin the re-speculation now!
After THE DARK KNIGHT RISES ... REBOOOOT !
http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2011/...istopher-nolan
Variety have confirmed their own weekend scoop that Juno Temple will play ‘a street smart Gotham girl’ in Chris Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, probably in a small-ish role that everyone presumes will be Holly Robinson, a young gal who Selina Kyle takes under her wing from prostitution.
Temple, 21, really caught our eye in the indie movie Kaboom and she’s a good match for Holly, a character who originated in Frank Miller’s Year One storyline, a tale Nolan has borrowed many characters from already (Flass, Loeb, etc) and is probably a good indicator of how Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman will be portrayed.
At 4.03am during the night, I received this email;
London News Paper ‘Metro Informer’ has reported that an unnamed source who is involved on a high level of the casting of ‘Dark Knight Rises’ says that the newest member of the anticipated batman film is Lukas Haas. Haas will follow the trend of ‘Inception’ cast members set to appear in Dark Knight Rises. The role set for Haas is Alberto Falcone, the role previously speculated to be held by Joseph Gordon-Levitt until he was confirmed for Roman Sionis. The source said to not expect Haas’s role to be near as large as the other villains already cast in the film.
A good friend of Leonardo Di’Caprio, Haas is well known for his child stardom and his range in acting. Haas will join the already prestigious cast of Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and the rest of the normal batman crew. Filming is scheduled to begin in May.
EW (owned by Time Warner, let’s not forget) are reporting that Variety’s claim yesterday that Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s role in The Dark Knight Rises was that of The Long Halloween’s Alberto Falcone is completely incorrect. So the guessing game is back on!
What’s interesting about all this is that yesterday, just after the announcement was revealed, Jett at Batman on Film revealed that he had heard from his sources (clearly the best on the Internet as he has once again been two steps ahead of everyone on the casting front) that Levitt would be playing either Alberto Falcone or Black Mask in the film, and he was surprised the annoucement came it was to be Falcone.
Today, Jett has changed the Black Mask references to ‘xxx’. Does that mean he knows Levitt’s Roman Sionis? Watch this space…
No matter how much Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros tried, it was always going to be an impossible task to stop major plot details and indeed spoilers from The Dark Knight Rises leaking, even at this early a stage when filming hasn’t begun yet.
Although I’m flagging this post as a spoilerish one today, you are going to hear the majority of this information over the next 15 months anyway one way or another as most of it will appear in the posters/trailers/press releases campaign.
Devin Faraci at Badass Digest (and now confirmed by Jett at BOF) say Batman’s main antagonist of The Dark Knight Rises are The League of Shadows that are headed by Talia Al’Ghul. With Bane, who is her muscle/possible love interest. And with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in tow. Is he playing Black Mask? My source didn’t know, but did know that Levitt is certainly an antagonist and involved with the League of Shadows.
We already know Tom Hardy is Bane and that Marion Cotillard is likely to play Talia and to be honest, we kind of expected a return of Batman Begins’ League of Shadows and the Talia/Bane plotline above. What we didn’t necessarily expect was Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing a villain (I had him pegged for a good guy cop on Gordon’s task force) and it brings up a whole host of possibilities as to who he could be (Black Mask, Dr Strange, The Penguin, Deadshot).
Gary Oldman’s been spilling about The Dark Knight Rises again and either he’s got himself confused about the franchise (come on… Oldman’s not like us, he doesn’t really care about Bat’s history & continuity in comics, he just wants to make good movies) or he’s just thrown a huge spanner in our Batman-villain prognostication game.
Speaking to E at the red carpet premiere of Red Riding Hood, Oldman revealed regarding the main baddie of his third Batman movie…
Hmmm… interesting. We debate below…I think it’s a villain from one of the old, old, from way back from the old comics… It is a Batman villain… It’s not going to be the Joker.
Ok… so the one villain we know that is 100% confirmed so far for The Dark Knight Rises is Tom Hardy as Bane, a villain created in the 90′s. So Oldman can’t be referring to him.
All the signs point to an appearance from Talia Ah Ghul, but she originates in 1971 and Batman was created in the 40′s. So not her.
So unless Oldman is talking about Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman (spring of 1940), which I don’t think he is because Oldman went on to say – “If I told you who the villain was, they’d kill me” and then about Hathaway – “I think she’ll probably wear the cat suit pretty well, don’t you?”… which contradicts himself about keeping quiet. So not her either.
Then, we can only presume, he must be talking about another Bob Kane era villain and with Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s role in the movie not yet revealed, perhaps it’s his mysterious part that Oldman knows about. Levitt’s been long-time rumoured to play Black Mask (1985) but also Dr. Hugo Strange!
Now interestingly, Strange debuted way back in Detective Comics #36 in February 1940, a character that even predates The Joker!
The Penguin debuted in 1941 and The Riddler a little later in 1948 – though Chris Nolan has poured cold water over both, which might turn out to be a clever bit of misdirection if either of those actually appear in the new film in a major way.
