baka kinukumpleto pa ni toroman na magdatingan lahat ng mga mag-try out sa Las Vegas Camp na mga Fil-Ams. Sayang si Pringle, may tinatapos pa atang mga academic requirements.
hopefully Gian Chiu joins the team as well. pero mas balak atang mag-doctor ng bata.
Kaso daming mga agents, player-managers, teams na gusto syang mag-PBA agad, kaya parang dun ang direction ng decision ng Aguilar family
^They want to take advantage of the hype that Japeth has..shempre galing US NCAA 1 yan..sure first rounder, if not the first round pick yan..medyo natatakot din sila na ma expose ng todo na hindi naman ganun kagalingan si Japeth..hindi ko sinasabi na yun lang rason, pero I'm sure one of the major reasons yan..
IMHO, teams will be banking on his "potential" dahil hindi rin naman ganun nakalaro sa US yan..like other potential draftees, pwedeng hindi rin mag live up sa expectations yan..not to mention his injuries..
for now the aguilars did not sign a contract yet and no verbal commitments made... so well just wait...![]()
Japeth Aguilar is playing for the SMART-Gilas team at present and would be lent to the Powerade National team if ever Guiao decides to include him in the final 12-man roster.
Much credit, I surmise, would go to MVP for convincing Aguilar to play under Rajko Toroman. I feel he made the best decision to stay as an amateur and develop his skills further under Toroman. He may have missed out as the #1 pick overall for next season but he would be the same #1 pick overall come 2012 - a much more deserving #1 pick since by then, he would be a more complete package of a player.
^Sana nga that's how he decides, otherwise, his PBA career would end up much like that of his father.
pag pumasok si japeth sa draft baka magaya lang siya sa ibang players na laging nasa bench like yancy and eman...
off topic:
si menor at arellano na nag lalaro sa Magnolia sa PBL na di sumali sa Rp team ay parang back up lang ni ababou nung nag lalaro pa si ababou sa magnolia before he go to las vegas... it just shows how much improvement dylan has with toroman...
Mainam na mainam na dun muna sya sa RP-SBP Smart Gilas Developmental team bago sa magpadraft.
About Menor, Maierhoffer, Fajardo, Arellano and those who refuse to join the RP Developmental Team, i'm sure may regrets din ang mga ito. Lalo na their contemporaries are doing much better and gaining new skills and exposure abroad.
Siguro medyo makakalamang sila pag pasok sa PBA provided di sila ibangko ng mga teams na magda-draft sa kanila. But with those in the Gilas Developmental Team, pag nag-PBA na yung mga yun, they will be revolutionizing the PBA anew with their FIBA/Euro/International type of play. Sana!![]()
we must also remember na yung nakalaban nila sa vegas ay magagaling din at matatangkad at si japeth naka score ng 15pts while si Greg slaughter naman ay 12pts... parang himala diba?? nag iimprove na si greg... noong sa serbia pa sila naka dunk to ng harap harapan sa defender nya... as what sir nardy said tumatapang na si greg...![]()
Greg is lucky enough to have a coach like Toroman at hindi kagaya sa nangyari kay Feihl sayang na sayang. Si Japeth naman masyadong na over-hyped if he's wise enough he should stick with Gilas team first though at the back of his mind he's probably thinking about his future since he already experienced how to lose a career and future in injuries.
matatangkad na ang players natin. sana si pringle makasama para may 3 pt shooter tayo. at isa pang matangkad na fil-am/fil-foreigner. sana yung fil-german makasama rin.
now we know where japeth is heading... he will be loaned to the powerade NT... and bye2x PBA draft...TEAM PILIPINAS
Guiao sets criteria for choosing 'Magic 12'
Tuesday, May 19, 2009 4:30:00 AM | 12 Comments
Powerade-Pilipinas men's basketball team coach Yeng Guiao wants more time to choose his "Magic 12," which will participate in the next month's Southeast Asia Basketball Association.
He would also need enough time to make a tough decision as to which one will be left out from his current 13-man pool.
And as far as the fiery mentor is concerned, no one is assured of slot in the FIBA Asia qualifying tournament in Indonesia.
The five-time PBA champion coach dismissed the notion that the player who will be dropped from roster will come from his congested guard rotation.
For Guiao, the more important aspect to look into is the health condition of the players as well as their attitude.
"Lahat naman yan halos may iniinda (injury) eh," said Guiao. "Maybe we can use the SEABA as an opportunity to possibly rest those hurting players, but again, we have to choose one to be placed on the 13th spot and I would say anybody can be cut temporarily from the squad."
"If all players are fit and ready to play, we should look at the next level in the process of selection - the player's attitude. How does he perform sa ensayo? How's his attendance? Madalas ba siyang late? All these things should be considered as I think in terms of capabilities and talents, pare-parehas naman silang may kakayahan," added Guiao.
Kelly Williams of Sta. Lucia will be definitely out of the SEABA tournament although Guiao heard that the reigning PBA Most Valuable Player is showing signs of progress.
"I've heard he's now getting better, but even if he's getting well now, I don't think he will be ready to play. I just hope he will be ready for the FIBA Asia Men's Basketball Championship in China this August," said Guiao.
Williams' teammate, Ryan Reyes, is also playing hurt as well as several other players who have been complaining of bodily pains.
The other members of the Powerade-RP squad are Asi Taulava of Coca-Cola, James Yap and Kerby Raymundo of Purefoods, Jared Dillinger and Ranidel de Ocampo of Talk N Text, Arwind Santos of Burger King, Jayjay Helterbrand and Cyrus Baguio of Ginebra, Mick Pennisi of San Miguel Beer, Gabe Norwood of Rain or Shine, and Sonny Thoss and Willie Miller of Alaska Milk.
Japeth Aguilar, the 6-9, Fil-Am forward who played for the Smart Gilas-Pilipinas team, will also earn a spot in Guiao's squad, but will only see action in the William Jones Cup tournament in July and the FIBA Asia Men's Basketball Championship in China. GMANews.TV

Japeth displays stuff in Powerade five match
Updated July 02, 2009 12:00 AM
MANILA, Philippines – Japeth Aguilar, considered the next dominant big man of local hoops, will suit up for Powerade Team Pilipinas at 6 p.m. tonight when the national team goes up against the visiting Soldiers of God team at The Arena in San Juan.
The 6-foot-9 son of former Northern Consolidated center Peter Aguilar displayed some of his stuff Monday during his first practice session with the RP team bound for the W. Jones Cup tournament in Taipei three weeks from now and the 25th FIBA Asia Men’s Championship in Tianjin, China next month.
He impressed not only PBA commissioner Renauld “Sonny” Barrios, coach Yeng Guiao, league operations chief Rickie Santos and Philippine Olympic Committee spokesman Joey Romasanta, but also fellow frontliners Kerby Raymundo, Sonny Thoss and Mick Pennisi.
“He’s tall with long reach,” said Raymundo.
Pennisi, who regularly subs for team captain Asi Taulava at center, was amazed at Aguilar’s improvement from the last time he saw him with the Ateneo Blue Eagles.
“He looks like he’s going to be something special,” Pennisi said. “He’s athletic, he’s young, and he’s got shot-blocking presence. He’s going to fit in very well with our team, just a great addition.”
Thoss became a believer in just a short span – after seeing one his shots batted away and getting dunked on.
“He looks really good, very athletic, long arms, good shotblocker,” said Thoss. “I don’t think he’s even shown his full potential yet.”
The exhibition game with the evangelical Soldiers of God, made up of Division I players in the US NCAA, should provide Aguilar the avenue to showcase his talent.
Guiao, whose ballclub, Burger King, could end up drafting Aguilar with the No. 1 pick if the 22-year-old Western Kentucky forward eventually decides to turn pro this year, raved over Aguilar’s attributes.
“He’s a little bit more mobile, he’s got better footwork, and I guess the best thing about him is he’s got better touch from the outside,” he said.
