So history is bound to repeat for eternity on the part of the pontifical university. For 27 consecutive years since 1980, no other university won the over-all championsip but UST. While they gave UP a chance in 1997(nevertheless, they were second), the winning tradition sparks up again in 1998 and continues to shake the spirits of other universities.

With the finals of the football games nearing to a close with UST on top, there is certainly no hope for the "others" to get the edge. It will be a great finish for the university's hosting of the 63rd season. By the way, would Thomasians care? WE are immune to championships.

According to the unofficial tally of the Varsitarian, the official student publication of the University of Sto. Tomas, UST ranks first with 191 points. Second is UP with 167. Trailing behind is La Salle with 143 points.

With only two events left to wrap up this year's UAAP season, Men's and Women's Football, the University is only waiting for the official declaration.

Do we hear another street party? hehehe... that depends on Fr. Pinto...

Ha!

The UST Men's and Women's Football team both failed to enter the finals. It's gonna be DLSU-UP (Men's) and DLSU-FEU(Women's) this Sat. If we're gonna win both championships...we'll amass 8 championships...isn't that enough for an over-all thropy? Well I dunno..except in tennis, fencing and other sports some of the team fared well and landed at least in 3rd place. Anyway, Animo La Salle pa rin!

i have this friend who's a sportswriter for plaridel, and sabi nga nya na it's going to be ust, then up and dlsu again for 3rd place. maski manalo daw tayo sa championship ng football against up and feu, malayo ang agwat ng scores ng ust from us.

think UAAP scoring goes this way
    CHAMPS 20
    2nd 16
    3rd 12
    4th 10
    5th 8
    6th 6
    7th 4
    8th 2

with that huge lead by UST no doubt they are again the UAAP overall champions. this is more important than the basketball crown. kung baga sa academics ALL AROUND. congrats to UST

congrats din to my alma mater the UP MAROONS for being consistent 2nd placers. tsamba lang yung 97 pero sana makaulit. talagang magaling ang UST

as to the other schools, malayo pa sila... practice pa...

UST is the OVERALL CHAMPION for the 2000-2001 UAAP SEASON.

by the way fortune, just to clarify the scoring system

the events have specific scoring system since other sport have only few competing members. so if all members compete in a particular event the highest is 15. that's the most you could get. so if the teams are narrowed down, the scoring system goes a level lower. like if it only has 7 teams, the highest is 12, 6 teams the highest is 10 and so on.

its also not 27 consecutive years, since 1980 it was running for 16 years until UP snatched it in 1997, so now its for the 3rd consecutive year.

    1st - UST
    2nd - UP
    3rd - DLSU

    sa Juniors...

    1st - Ateneo
    2nd - UE
    3rd - UST

wala talagang tatalo sa UST pagdating sa overall!
    fiesta nanaman to!

we can still get that next year, pero mahirap talaga ang mag champ sa overall. UST lang nakakagawa nun! ng paulit ulit........

first of all, CONGRATS TO UST!!! You deserve it. You have an impeccable recruiting system na talagang angat sa iba.

Nothing like that. Its just that UST has a lower bar on allowing athletes to become students for the university. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS, after all not everyone is born a rocket scientist (as UP and Ateneo people would like to claim....and NO not everyone who studies in those universities are intelligent. may mga BOBO sa UP at ateneo...and of course, sa la salle din meron )

San nyo ba kinukuha ang perang pinang gagastos nyo for players?

Bilib ako...pero next year kami naman sana ang mag general championship...at kung hindi?? there's always the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that.

    Cool

    to lasallite,

wow, touch naman ako sa gesture of "sportsmanship" mo. I'm not sure if you're sarcastic in some of your words pero just the same, thank you for commending UST sa pag-recruit ng magagaling na athletes (nt "players", ha). doon sa tanong mo kung saan kumukuha ang UST sa pagbibigay ng rewards, well sa palagay katulad din sa inyo - kung saan din kayo kumukuha.

salamat ulit sa pagkabilib mo sa UST. sana nga...at gaya ng sabi mo, sana nga kayo naman ang mag-overall champion. at kung hindi, there's always a year after that, and a year after that, and a year after that....

Nasa Uste...

I'm not implying anything. Galing lang kayo mag-recruit. Taekwondo team niyo, halos lahat National Team. Go Brothers, Dindo Simpao (coach niyo), Daleen Cordero, tapos yung Tamayo... yung cute. Basta!

Badminton team niyo rin magaling din.
