    "Womanity" wows the world!

Each time a famous or celebrated lady helps make this world a better place to live in with her remarkable skills and talents, she becomes an inspiration to other people.

Each time an ordinary woman does extraordinary things to make a difference, she becomes a living example of love, compassion, and hope.

Their accomplishments—big or small— should not go unnoticed.

Our very own Pinays in the entertainment industry have been making us proud with their feats over the past few years.

Take Lea Salonga, for example, whose acclaimed status in theater has earned her local and international fame, not to mention respect for her duties as World Vision Ambassador for Child Sponsorship. The world-class performer has also earned the nod of her countrymen as the 2nd Most Trusted Public Personality in the Philippines.

There's Iza Calzado, whose performance in the international remake of the suspense thriller film Sigaw has captured the attention of Hollywood. The talented Kapuso actress is also a devoted and active supporter of breast-cancer awareness campaigns.

Daphne Oseña-Paez, regardless of her busy schedule as a full-time mom and TV personality, has also strived for the common good and was appointed UNICEF Special Advocate for Children.

And, of course, Judy Ann Santos made use of her status by helping the needy via her Touch a Heart Foundation.

Female Network recognizes these inspiring stories of Pinays who are shining examples of what women can achieve thru Womanity Awards. Categories include entertainment, the arts, advocacies, fashion, public service, and sports.

Nominations will be open up to July 31. The selected finalists will be featured on Female Network's site, and winners will be selected through voting. The awardees will be announced on November 15.

Judy Ann Santos says she is still in talks about her showbiz comeback
    5/22/2011 12:57 AM
    by: Napoleon Quintos

Judy Ann Santos and husband Ryan Agoncillo visited the photo shoot of the judges of the upcoming ABS-CBN reality show Junior MasterChef last May 19. Judy Ann will serve as the new host of the Philippine version of the popular reality show while the judges will be renowned chefs Fern Aracama, Rolando Laudico, and JP Anglo. “Galing din kami sa meeting. Ang sabi sa amin nandito nga sila chef for the pictorial kaya dumaan kami. Since wala pa siyang ibang call time nagpasama muna ako ngayon,” Judy Ann told Push.com.ph and other reporters following the shoot.

Judy Ann admitted that she is very much excited about hosting JMC since she knows she’ll be learning lots of new things from the chef judges. Bawat chef kasi may kanya-kanyang technique.” JMC is a show where children compete to see who has the makings of a future chef. ABS-CBN has acquired the rights to make a Pinoy version of this show through the same team behind Pinoy Big Brother.

The young superstar and her TV host husband are now parents to two children, Yohan and Lucho. Judy Ann shared that her being a mother might help her guide the kids amidst the pressure brought about by the competition in JMC. We’re here to let the kids have a great time. We don’t want them to feel pressured.”

Judy Ann had spent most of her life working in showbiz, starting out as a child star, until she got married to Ryan in 2009 and became pregnant with Lucho last year. From the time she got pregnant until now, the actress has taken a break from work to devote her time to her new family, particularly to Lucho who was born last October.

Many of her fans are very anxious to see her return to work, but Judy Ann said her comeback is still dependent on her discussion with ABS-CBN. We’ll see kung may iba pang darating na projects.

Judy Ann added that she is very much open to be doing another teleserye. Her last was Habang May Buhay opposite Derek Ramsay. She said she knows fans will always want to see her act on television, but she is still waiting for the right story concept, hence she can’t give a definite date as to when she’ll do a teleserye again. Siguro next year. We’ll see na lang.

Judy Ann to do teleserye in 2012

Updated as of 07/05/2011 10:37 PM

MANILA, Philippines – Judy Ann Santos, host of the upcoming “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition,” said she will be back to doing soap operas by the middle of next year.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Santos said making a teleserye is a heavy workload and, for now, she wants to focus on her new reality TV show.

Santos, an exclusive Kapamilya talent, has starred in various popular TV series on ABS-CBN including “Mara Clara,” “Esperanza,” “Krystala,” “Ysabella” and “George and Cecil.”

As for the big screen, Santos’ movie project this year has made it to the Metro Manila Film Festival. She will star alongside husband Ryan Agoncillo and comedienne Eugene Domingo.

She will also do a movie with Coco Martin next year.

Meanwhile, Santos praised Kathryn Bernardo for her acting skill. Bernardo played “Mara,” a role originally played by Santos, in the remake of the teleserye “Mara Clara.”

Bernardo will again portray a character played by Santos. The young actress is the lead star of the remake of “Esperanza.”

Santos hopes though that Bernardo will be given a project with an original script and not patterned after her.

Judy Ann Santos says it might take time before she returns to teleseryes
    7/08/2011 8:42 AM
    by: Napoleon Quintos

Judy Ann Santos is about to return to television, not as an actress, but for the very first time as a host, for the new ABS-CBN reality show Junior MasterChef: Pinoy Edition. After more than a year of taking a break from showbiz to focus on mommy duties, Judy Ann said that her decision to go back to work was very much supported by her husband Ryan Agoncillo. “Ever since si Ryan lagi niyang sinasabi na kung ano man ang maging desisyon ko about sa pagbabalik-trabaho, okay lang sa kanya. Ako rin naman, gusto ko rin mag-work na for as long as may oras pa rin para sa mga bata.”

The Young Superstar admitted that she missed working in front of the camera. But now her main priority is to be a hands-on mother to her two kids, Yohan and Lucho.

She also shared that her daughter Yohan is very excited about JMC and is insisting on visiting the big kitchen set. As much as Judy Ann wanted to grant her little girl’s request, the location is very far from their home. “Gusto niyang pumunta dito.

Judy Ann said that she still has an existing contract with ABS-CBN. Since she is the “Queen of Teleserye,” many are wondering when she will do another drama series. The actress, however, couldn’t give a definite time. “Siguro mid next year na siguro.

The actress explained how happy she is that with the schedule of taping for JMC she still has the time to be at home with her family. Thankful ako na may time pa rin ako with Yohan and Lucho.

Judy Ann Santos says working with Piolo Pascual again is not impossible
    8/19/2011 10:44 PM
    by: Napoleon Quintos

Judy Ann Santos is now back in showbiz with two projects, one as host of the ABS-CBN reality competition Junior MasterChef: Pinoy Edition and as star of the Metro Manila Film Festival entry My House Husband opposite her real life hubby Ryan Agoncillo. Meanwhile, for those who missed the Teleserye Queen, Judy Ann gave this promise.

Hailed as one the most respected actresses of her generation, Judy Ann couldn’t hide her nervousness as to how people will accept her first venture into hosting with JMC.

She revealed that she has an existing contract with the Kapamilya network, which means she can only do a teleserye for the said TV station. When asked if she wants to have a new leading man for her next series, she welcomed the idea and even named her personal picks.

But it seems that there are still fans calling for her to be reunited with former leading man Piolo Pascual. Judy Ann and Piolo worked on numerous top-rating teleseryes and blockbuster films which include Bakit Di Totohanin, Till There Was You, and Don’t Give Up On Us. It was when Juday first got into a relationship with Ryan that the latter got into a feud with Piolo, which predictably put a strain on Juday and Piolo’s friendship.

Though they all have buried the hatchet, Judy Ann seemed to still want to avoid queries that might start another controversy. When asked if she is open to working with Piolo again, her brief answer was, “Lahat ng bagay maidadaan sa maayos na usapan.”

Regarding her other former leading man Robin Padilla whom she starred with in the teleserye Basta’t Kasama Kita, Judy Ann said she doesn’t think she is still fit to do action genres. Right timing lahat ng nangyari. Kapag nag-action pa ako ngayon baka pagtawanan pa ako.”

Judy Ann open to do TV in 2012

    Posted at 11/30/2011 10:54 PM | Updated as of 12/01/2011 10:22 AM

MANILA, Philippines - Actress and television host Judy Ann Santos said she is open to do another television series by next year.

In an interview with “Kris TV” on Wednesday, Santos said that she will be more than willing to accept another television project, as long as it will not be in conflict with her schedule as a full-time mom.

“Siguro next year [pwede na ako gumawa ulit ng television series],” she told the morning show’s host, Queen of All Media Kris Aquino.

“I am open naman sa lahat eh. It’s just that kailangan ko lang din ilatag din sa producers na, ‘Sorry po pero ito po ‘yung working hours ko’,” she added.

When asked to further elaborate on her preferred working hours, Santos replied, “Siguro at least, cut-off ng 12 midnight.”

She explained, “Baka sabihin O.A. (over acting) naman [na 12 a.m. ang cut-off], hindi po, kasi gumigising po ako ng 4 a.m., 5 a.m. kasi siyempre ang pasok kasi ni Yohan sinusundo siya ng service ng 7 a.m., so hangga’t maaari gusto ko gising ako habang kumakain siya or andun ako habang nagpe-prepare siya.”

According to Santos, her top priority at the moment is her family, and that she wants to spend as much time possible with them, especially with her kids.

She stressed, “Hindi naman sa nagpapaka-primadonna [ako] or what. Parang feeling ko naman since 8 years old I’ve been working until wee hours of the morning. Itong time na ‘to [sana ma-spend ko naman sa family ko].”

Santos’ last television series was ABS-CBN’s “Habang May Buhay” in 2010, wherein she worked with Gina Alajar, Derek Ramsay and Joem Bascon.

Currently, she is the host of the ABS-CBN cooking show “Junior Master Chef: Pinoy Edition.”

Judai to do new TV series?

MANILA, Philippines -- Young superstar Judy Ann Santos said there are already plans for her to do a television series.

Tinatantiya kasi ang time at taping schedule. Hangga't maaari isa-isa lang muna kasi mahirap kapag pinagsasabay-sabay," she said in an interview during a press conference for her upcoming reality cooking show, "Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition."

"Junior MasterChef" will premiere on August 20. Santos is also set to do a comeback movie with husband Ryan Agoncillo titled "Househusband."

"One step at a time, slowly but surely," she added.

With all the projects coming in, Santos said she is happy that her family, specifically her husband, is there to give their full support.

Time management lang dapat," she said.

"Sabi niya (Agoncillo) relax lang and go with the flow.

Judy Ann Santos admits she has many demands before she accepts her next TV acting project
    5/12/2011 8:46 AM
    by: Bernie Franco

After being away from showbiz for eight months to fulfill her domestic duties, Judy Ann Santos will soon return to the limelight via the reality-based cooking show for kids, Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition. The Teleserye Queen, who also has a degree in Culinary Arts, said that she is excited but also nervous about the project because it will be her first-ever full-fledged hosting job.

Apart from the cooking show, Juday explained that it might take a while before she will return to acting. Since she concentrated on being a mom to Yohan and Lucho for many months, Juday said that she needs to be prepared with being away from her kids.

She revealed that she was already in talks with her home network regarding her acting comeback on TV.

She pointed out also that there will be adjustments in her working habits in favor of her duties as a wife and a mother. This is why she is grateful to ABS-CBN management because they are understanding about her demands. “What’s good with ABS-CBN is that they are more than willing to wait and they really respect my decision.”

She said that one good thing about her hosting stint is that it does not require too much of her time, unlike with an acting project. Judy Ann also said she needs to shed the extra pounds before she can return to acting.

She revealed though that she might do a movie this year with Coco Martin, which Judai said she can accommodate because the schedule won’t be as gruelling as with a teleserye. “I think that’s enough for the whole year. Next year pag-uusapan ulit kung ano pwede pa magawa.

She also pointed out that she won't do sexy scenes. Judy Ann's most daring role to date is 2004’s Sabel. “‘Yun na ‘yung ginawa ko. After non ‘di na uli ako nangahas. Nung pinanood ko kasi ‘yon, ‘Anong nangyari?! Anong ginagawa mo Juday?!’ Pero okay lang naka-Urian [Award as Best Actress] naman ako so bayad na bayad naman ang ginawa ko,” she recalled fondly.

For her birthday on May 11, Judy Ann and her family went on an out-of-town trip, which what they always do on her birthday. “’Pag birthday talagang naga-out-of-town talaga kami. One reason din para sa family to bond and to leave Manila for a short time.

In the meantime, Sam [Milby] is excited about his upcoming projects now that he’s back in Manila. As a matter of fact, he’ll be a guest co-host of Sarah Geronimo in Sarah G Live on May 20. He’s also set to meet with ABS-CBN executives regarding a teleserye with Judy Ann Santos. “From what I know so far, may teleserye ako with Judy Ann Santos and Jessy Mendiola. Later this week malalaman ko kung anong kwento. First time ko to work with Judy Ann so malaking privilege talaga to work with someone with that high status in showbiz. Alam ko madami akong matututunan sa kanya. I’ve never worked with her before. I know her and Ryan Agoncillo so I’m excited.”

Judy Ann Santos is looking forward to acting again
    5/08/2012 9:35 AM
    by: Rhea Manila Santos

Judy Ann Santos said she will always go back to her acting roots despite successfully branching out into hosting with Junior Master Chef: Pinoy Edition.

The former child actress admitted that she did not immediately take to the idea of doing more than just acting onscreen. Pero that’s the risk that I was willing to take at that time kasi nung time na yun talagang gusto ko lang ma-experience ang ibang linya naman ng trabaho maliban sa pag-arte. Madaming mas magagaling na bata ngayon so kailangan ko as an actress… kailangan ko i-explore yung iba pang parts ng industriya,” she explained.

Juday, who turns 34 on May 11, admitted that she is open to doing a drama series soon. “It’s still possible to do a teleserye within this year kasi unang-una nasa kontrata ko yun (laughs) and I also miss acting as well. Parang it’s effortless for them na umiyak at magpaiyak ng tao so nakakatuwa sila,” she said.

One of the possible leading men being suggested to Juday is John Lloyd Cruz.

The talented actress and entrepreneur also admitted she is eagerly waiting for her upcoming movie project with Coco Martin.

Juday also shared how her youngest child Lucho is helping her maintain her svelte figure. So isang malaking factor talaga sa pagpayat ko is exercise and of course proper diet,” she said.

BACK TO SOAP WORLD.

“Pero yung ABS naman, guaranteed me na it’s not gonna be as hectic as before—noong dalaga pa ako.

May iba pa ba siyang demands?

"Actually, wala naman. Yung cut-off lang talaga.

Kasi, iniisip mo na kailangan, take one lang ‘to.

"Pag-uusapan kung hanggang anong month puwedeng i-can.

“I-can natin, pero, huwag namang dalawang taon.”

CHOICE OF ROLES.

    ...

Ha! Ha!

“Pero ABS guaranteed me na it’s not gonna be as hectic as before na dalaga pa ako.

So, ibig sabihin, wala silang kissing scene ni Sam Milby?

“Wala! Nagtataka ka pa ba? Ha! Ha! Ha!”

Ha! Ha! Ha!
