the coolest opening credits I've seen! And reviewers who have already seen the 6 episodes said that it changes every ep...Acting is top-notch (esp. Mark Addy as King Robert)...

Well at least it's a marked improvement over being stuck in Middle American sitcom wasteland (Still Standing?)

Emilia Clarke's acting is subtle yet effective, I find. I love the opening credits too and the music.

found this great post from another site which will help non-readers to understand (in a non-spoilery way) what the characters' motives are and what the books are all about (in his perspective, which I kinda agree):

This is a story about power. I won't be spoiling anything by telling you that pretty much anything good and decent gets smashed to little bitty pieces in the end, that anybody you think is pure probably isn't, that anybody you think is evil will surprise you. The people aren't the point, exactly. It's not a story about Ned or Robert or Cersei or Dany finding redemption and living happily ever after. It's a story about what people want, and what they'll do to get it, and how it changes them, and what they do then. What they decide to do.

Jon, faced with his powerlessness, looks for a place where your name means nothing, where your money and family history mean nothing. Ned, loyal decent honorable stupid Ned, thinks he can change the mind of a king. He has no illusions about his power over the kingdom but he thinks Robert might still listen to him. Robert, who ideally would have power over everything and everyone, but is so trapped in his own misery that he can use that power for nothing but drowning his sorrows and avoiding his problems.

Viserys, that sick little creep, has the worst of it, really: He longs for a world that is entirely in his head. He wants to rule a country that no longer exists. People don't whisper his name. They don't drink toasts to his health. They don't remember him, they don't love him, they don't dream of his return. The only power he has is in the story he tells himself nightly about how he's been wronged and hurt and robbed of his destiny, and that's only the power to deceive himself.

This is a story about power and power doesn't last, which is what makes a show for us to watch. Based on what we saw tonight, this is going to be a hell of a ride.

From the previews I didn't like Clarke's acting but seeing it in context I think it's fine. And so is her booty

As for matching the physical descriptions of characters in the books, Mark Addy is a bigger offender. Robert really should look more like a big pro athlete who let himself go - but I don't mind if the producers err on the side of good acting.

A second season renewal? So much trust. Kunsabagay ang hot ng show e. I read somewhere that this is like the second most ordered international show sa HBO.

Adore the Dire Wolf pups. Ang astig ni Tyrion Lannister. In a creepy sort of way. Don't like his other siblings, medyo boring.

Correct, the first episode is awesome, but Drogo and Daenerys consumation is the exact oppposite of what it was in the book instead of consensual, because she was surprised on how gentle he was, instead of just terrifying her and bending her over.

I didn't know that they already showed this in the Philippines, cause my uncle is a huge fan of the book series and he said it didn't air on hbo yet? And he was looking forward to it.
