Exclamation My Cellphone Was Stolen: Should I Have it Blocked sa NTC?

My brand new cellphone was recently stolen. I was shopping with my baby daughter and was already in the car when I discovered that my bag was partially open and my cellphone gone not to mention all those valuable contacts and stored information. Hubby tried calling my number to no avail. I had my SIM blocked and want sweet revenge by having the phone blocked through NTC. In other words ayoko nang pakinabangan pa nung magnanakaw yung phone ko.

My question is, sould I have it blocked? Somebody told me that after sometime, a blocked phone can be unblocked sa Greenhills. Is this true? If so, useless ba to go to NTC and have the unit blocked?

Yes, they have forms for you to fill-up at the NTC before they can block your phone. You may also need to produce a police blotter report. Daming hassle dyan sa NTC dati when my own cellphone was stolen too. I gave up in the end dahil tinamad akong maglakad pa ng papeles pupunta pako ng NTC.

Maybe you may need to block your cellphone number from Globe or Smart instead. They might use your number to impersonate you.

No forms needed; when my dad lost his cellphone, we simply called up the NTC to block the IMIE (correct me if I'm wrong, since I forgot the actual acronym) number of the phone. Just be sure you have the box of the phone (the IMIE number is printed there).

No can do with blocking the number, not when people can easily change SIMs.

    how to block the simcard?
kelangan ba pumunta sa Smart/Globe wireless?

  5. #5
^^you can just call them and have it temporarily cut since nawala mo yung phone mo...that goes for postpaid. for globe kung gusto mo nang bumili ng new sim with the same number you have to pay the balance you have with them before they'll let you buy. for smart nde ko lang alam.

for prepaid, syempre nde mo na maboblock yon, just buy a new one.

to TS, yea ang alam ko maski naka block na sa NTC pwede pa din ma-open BUT sobrang mahal. Ang sabi sa akin nearly 10K daw.

    Question Haaay

Thank you sa mga replies. I had my SIM blocked (Smart) as soon as I discovered wala na ang phone ko but that wasn't much of a relief kasi magagamit pa rin nung lokong magnanakaw ang phone ko.

I got my replacement SIM last Sunday, same number pero deactivated na yung nanakaw na SIM.

I called up NTC and I need to make a personal appearance nga daw with the phone box for the IMEI. Thanks!

Ang negative lang naman eh yung "hassle" in your part. But since you are willing to take the time and effort, then go for it.

This also serves as a good reminder to back-up your cellphone phonebook on a regular basis (transfer it to your computer).

Yes, please do report it to NTC.
More reports.. more blocking.. less stealing!

Go for it, girl. Blocking it will mean whoever got it won't be able to use it nor sell it. Or at least he'll have a hard time trying to unblock it.

I already had my phone block at NTC twice, you need to fill up a form bring the original box, as proof of ownership...super bilis lang...

you can't just call them and ask for blocking on any phone, you need to go there in person and fill up a form and prove the ownership of the phone you wanted to be block...

    so, parang useless din.

Not sure if he did, but I remember that he also went to confirm, though he initially made the call.

CMIIW, but the IMEI is embedded in the phone's motherboard. if you want to unblock it, you should get a new board. that's what i heard.

if the handset came from a telecom company [globe, smart or sun] give them your IMEI and sila na bahala
