Hawkins was a solid player but he was a late bloomer in the PBA, finding his niche only when he landed at Alaska. And he was really a role player (a sort of stabilizing force) at Alaska whose top players were obviously Johnny A., Jolas, and Duremdes. He was a great role player.
I can say his peak form lasted only four seasons (from 1995 to 1998) as he had injuries later in his career.
The likes of Patrimonio, Cezar, and even Asaytono piled up more consistent numbers during the majority of their respective careers.
