Thumbs up Not everybody needs a debit/cash/prepaid/reloadable card.

Well, you don't. As you said, you already have a card that suits your needs.

But for some people, they need one for:
    • shopping online,
    • saving points for drugstore purchases,
    • not wanting to queue on a rush hour at mrt stations,
    • having to purchase something from establishments that don't accept BancNet, ExpressNet and MegaLink cards
    • not having to maintain a certain amount (because not everybody has a payroll account that doesn't require any maintaining balance or just P100 for some)
    • card collecting (yes, I'm a living proof)

And if you are not fond of the above things, then you certainly don't need to get yourself a debit/cash/prepaid/reloadable card.

Friday kasi yon at nagka problema yata ( was not explained clearly) so I have the card pero pwede magamit the following Monday pa. Pagka Monday di ko na kailangan so until now di pa nagagamit.

May initial deposit sya na 2K at maintaining na 2K. But I need to have a minimum adb of 5K to earn interest.
Mind if I ask what your purpose is for an immediate account?

Thumbs up BPI Express Cash Card Renewal

BTW... I found out today that my card expired June 2011.... how will I renew it? Do I have to go to the branch where I applied? I stopped using my BPI Express Card since I got my 2 credit cards (from other banks... BPI declined my application hehehe). But I stilll want to keep it.

    For Expired Cards
Renew your card by calling 89-100 or by visiting the branch where you purchased your card. (a fee of P100 will be charged every month after the 121st day of card's expiry)

    @Rinoabrea, thanks for the reply.

Btw, is there a Debitcard (or credit card) wherein if you're going to use it you're just going to tap it in a machine then ok na? Iyon ang gusto kong magkaron mala Singapore.

better you open an bpi easy saver account, mas mura ang withdrawal fees compared to express cash card which valid for 2years, bpi express teller never expires, no maintaning balance, earns interest.

Tap N Go purchases on establishments using a credit/debit card is very limited and not that popular here in the Philippines. I can recall a TV commercial from BPI before where you can just tap your card to purchase but I'm just not sure if it still exists.

And you could also try checking on this site and inquiring from BDO if they still have it.

    Cool Another Express Account

    I see.

Anyway, just for additional information, BPI could also open an account for you within minutes, just like PSBank (via the BPI Express Banking Centers, yung mga mini-branches ng BPI usually sa mga malls) and I believe you can get the ATM card within the hour as well. Just not sure if the one they will give you is a generic card (no name of account holder) or a personal card (with name). And I think the opening balance is just P500.

You can use the branch locator and look for ones with EXPRESS BANKING CENTER.

Thank you. I have BPI Express Cash Card but seldom uses it kaya nga d ko napansin expired na this June. Kaya di ko ginagamit sumama din kasi loob ko sa BPI for declining my cc application form, hehehe. Sometimes it's in use on paydays where I temporarily put my money ( cash in pay envelope ang salary namin eh) dahil their branch is just across my office para wala akong cash na dala pag uwi. Besides d ko na un magamit sa purchases mas prefer ko cc for points.

The PSBank branch is near our house, BPI is another block away. Mas konti ang gumagamit ng ATM compared sa mahabang pila sa BPI.

added information sa mga kagaya ko na mahilig sa mga cards..and also to promote an alternative to credit cards for better control of your finances and not to depend too much on borrowing money just for the sake of purchasing which could later turn out to be a financial burden.

TAMA KA! I went to BPI ( sa branch where I opened my EXPRESS CASH)today. I closed the account and tranferred it to my new EASY SAVER ... in less than 30 minutes. I just paid 50 pesos ( with a receipt), probably it was for the card, then the deposit slip for the amount I deposited. Yeah, you are right the name was embossed, different from Express Cash na parang printrd lang.

I encountered minor problem, talagang d yata para sa akin ang pagsi save (hehehe). I was unable change my PIN today bukas pa daw as they are updating something..... Just like what happened to my PS Bank may konting aberya which until now di ko pa napapa activate.

Sad naman ng first experience ko sa PSBank.

I was at Dampa this afternoon to make a reservation for a get together next week. Upon paying my reservation fee, I noticed that I don't have enough cash and I will have dinner in 30 minutes at Barrio Fiesta in Ali Mall.

Although I have 2 credit cards to back me up I was not that confident so I look for ATM machines nearby and I saw some outside Dampa. The PS Bank machine caught my eyes and I tried to withdraw. It was my first transaction since I got my PS Bank ATM/Debit Mastercard. To my surprise th message says : YOUR ACCOUNT IS BLOCKED OR INACTIVE. PLEASE CALL YOUR BANK. I called the customer service right away and I was informed that there was no problem with my account.

The CSR advised me to try again and to press the "current account" or "checking account" options rather than "savings account". But there was no "current account" option. When I tried another option the message says :ACCOUNT CANNOT BE LOCATED"

I called the CSR again, It was a different person and I underwent the same process of account verification. It took me long on the phone.... and I was using my cp! The CSR could not find an answer. The only advise she gave was to wait for a call which I thought within few minutes only. But when I clarified if I can use the card, she said no because she cannot point out a problem and she still has to endorse it to a different department. The latest time for me to expect the call is at 9 am the following day.

I desperately hang up the phone and went bank to the BPI ATM machine next to the PSBank... and it was for the first time I used my Easy Saver card too. I sighed in relief as my money was dispersed without any inconvenience.

Ano nga ba ang convenient these days?

Yey.. just purchased a ticket to KL using my debit card. For PHP1,805 (all in, even the taxes), round trip flight w/ bus accom to/from airport.. nice deal. next year nga lang ang flight.. and I didn't owe anybody or any card company anything. My new motto works very well: I ONLY SPEND WHAT I ALREADY HAVE.

I noticed that most ATM cards issued by banks that are linked to either savings or checking accounts can be used as debit cards, so these are not simply restricted to ATM use only.

Even Landbank and DBP claim that their ATM cards can already be used in POS terminals. Though, I have yet to try my using my Landbank ATM to shop at SM.

Thus, if one has these savings or checking accounts with funds that can be accessed through an ATM, there's no need to have separate cash cards, even when sending money. Cash cards, though most have minimal to no minimum balance requirement, usually charge annual fees or one time card fee or membership and a lot of transaction fees (fees in balance inquiry, withdrawal fees, bills payment fees, etc)... not to mention that you can just withdraw money from ATMs by P1000,'s P500's and P100's.

Therefore, if you have enough savings to meet the minimum balance requirements, just go open a savings account that is linked to an ATM card which could work with a lot of POS terminals.

That's how I started from nothing... because I did not have enough money to open a savings account. I've lived on cash cards from Unionbank EON, Smart Money and Payoneer (a dollar-denominated debit card, alternative to receiving payments online).

But since I have already built some savings at my BPI savings account, I have been using a BPI Express Teller card instead to save on fees, and I have used their ATM card so many times in restaurants, gasoline stations, supermarkets and groceries. Other ATM cards which are linked to a savings account could work well, such as that one from BDO, Unionbank e-Wallet, Metrobank...

I forgot to add. I purchased it online.
