I saw this brochure on BDO Visa Debit (ATM Debit Card). Pwede kaya itong gamitin sa online purchases because of the VISA affiliation?

My current ATM Debit card is the one with Mastercard Electronic. Unfortunately for this one, hindi pwede gamitin online, despite being a Mastercard.

basta debit card, hindi pwede sa online purchases only online bills payment on local companies. online purchases is for credit card and bills payment for some banks.

bdo atm debit card visa - you have to open a new account to get this. visa or mastercard is your atm option

With BDO ATM Debit Card, you may:

    • Withdraw cash through any BDO, Expressnet, MegaLink and BancNet ATMs nationwide and through MasterCard/Cirrus and Visa/Plus ATMs worldwide (for MasterCard and VISA ATM Debit Card)

    • Access your account to view your balance, transfer money, pay bills and buy prepaid mobile load anytime, anywhere using BDO’s electronic channels.

    • Pay without cash for purchases, goods and services at major establishments nationwide and abroad (for MasterCard and VISA ATM Debit Card)

walang sinabing online purchases at ang sinabi lang major establishment nationwide, meaning physical payment not virtual

If you really need to purchase online without using a credit card, I suggest PSBank Prepaid Mastercard (limited online stores) or Unionbank EON (via Paypal). Sadly, most debit/cash/prepaid cards don't have this functionality.

Wink BPI Cash Card Mastercard pin encoding?

Just want to share my experience today when I was at Puregold.

When I was about to pay for the groceries, I handed over my BPI Cash Card to the cashier, then she asked me if savings daw ba or current. I told her that only a signature is needed. But she insisted and again asked me if savings daw ba or current.

So I just played along but I already knew it wouldn't work for pin transactions. When all of the items were already punched in, she then asked me to encode my PIN. And as I expected, the terminal denied the transaction asking her to contact a certain number. She did this twice and again to no avail.

So again, I told her that the card should be treated like a credit card. And to her surprise, it did send an approval code when she tried again using a credit card POS terminal.

Btw, no pun intended to the cashier. Perhaps she's just new or it was her first time to encounter that kind of a transaction.

And another thing, I just want to ask anybody kung meron ba kayong experience na naaprove ang BPI Cash Card using your PIN? I know that some of the other debit cards (not ATM cards) can either be pin or signature. Just wondering lang for BPI Cash Card.

    a. Signature verification (Visa electronic terminal) – you will be asked to sign on the charge slip to complete the payment.
    b. PIN verification (Bancnet POS terminal) – the cashier will request you to enter your ATM PIN in the pin pad.

since bpi express teller card kasi needs to enter pin. maybe yun ang thinking ng cashier since bpi din yun express cash card

    How to use E.P.S.

    • Shop

    • Look for the E.P.S. or BPI Cards signage or simply ask the cashier about E.P.S.

    • Present and pay with any of your BPI Express Teller Card (BPI, BPI Family Bank Express Teller, BPI Direct).

    • At the counter, the Cashier swipes your BPI Express Teller Card in the Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal.

    • Cashier will request you to enter your Personal Identification No. (PIN) which is the same PIN that you use in the ATM.

    • This electronically deducts the exact amount of your purchase from your deposit account.

I highly recommend that you set up an account with BPI. Their new Easy Saver savings account only requires you to deposit 200php in order to open an account. There is NO maintaining balance needed, though 50php is deducted after your first transaction (meaning you're left with 150php). The trade-off for having no maintaining balance is that there is a 5 peso deduction for every transaction you make.

much better to sa bpi express cash card. meron ka ng bpi express teller card for cashless shopping, only card. an atm savings account and debit card in one.

kaya hindi gumana yun bpi express cash card sa bancnet POS Terminal when you enter your PIN, simply because hindi siya SAVINGS ACCOUNT even if you choose either savings or current. if BPI express teller card yun gagana yun. pero i remember yun BDO cash card gumagana kahit pin based asking if savings or current. kung visa pos terminal naman, no need for PIN

I have a payroll ATM account that can be used to pay things and automatically deducted from my savings account balance. Can somebody please explain to me why will I need a Debit Card?

  18. #78
I experienced the same once at Waltermart. In fact it was not my first time to use my BPI Express Cash there. The cashier asked me if its savings or current and I told her "I don't know" which was true. I told her that I had been using it for over a year and I just sign on it.

BTW... I found out today that my card expired June 2011.... how will I renew it? Do I have to go to the branch where I applied? I stopped using my BPI Express Card since I got my 2 credit cards (from other banks... BPI declined my application hehehe). But I stilll want to keep it.

I have the new PS Bank Debit Master Card almost a month pa lang. Di ko pa nagagamit. I was a bit disappointed kasi pure ATM card lang sana ang gusto ko for savings pero eto binigay sa akin. Reason why I applied? I need the card right away which they did in less than 30 minutes. Ang problema it did not serve the purpose. Friday kasi yon at nagka problema yata ( was not explained clearly) so I have the card pero pwede magamit the following Monday pa. Pagka Monday di ko na kailangan so until now di pa nagagamit.

May initial deposit sya na 2K at maintaining na 2K. But I need to have a minimum adb of 5K to earn interest.
