zimdude here... wannabee drummer, percussionist, vocalist, and word-speaker! likes almost all kinds of music but prefers those that are not too loud or noisy.

hiphop, grunge, hiphop , trance, hiphop, pop, hiphop and just recently--*prepares for pandaemonaeon's wrath*-deftones, incubus, korn, tool, papa roach, slipknot...the like--whatever genre they fall under.
oh and Nsync too.
Oh well...You first.
I'm a 17-year old male Freshman College Student taking up Computer Science. As you all know by now, I'm a huge fan of Metal and also listen to other forms of music like Industrial.
I also used to post under the handle "SaintofKillers" here at Pinoy Exchange. Although I use that name all over the internet, the dark shady side of SoK is only used here at PEX. The whole point behind the SoK nickname is to get people all riled up for the most trivial of things. The character listens to NU Metal, cusses like a retired vietcon soldier, attacks anyone once provoked, threatens bodily harm upon others, posts semi-intelligent threads, makes a big deal on such a small matter...in short - crossing paths with this guy is a real pain in the arse.
19 year old female psuedo-feline.
I go to this forum a lot to read and be informed of the musical trends and taste of my age group. So as you can see, I hardly post here. Maybe soon, I will.
I listen to almost every genre of music except Bluegrass. I've had my share of "boy band hell" when I was 14, glad to say that stage is done and over with!
Right now, I like Kittie. I've been in tuned with their music since last year and I thoroughly enjoy it. I'm not sure what genre they are in but they look like a gothic hard rock band. ("Do You Think I'm a *****", among others, is a cool song)
Other things that I am into: Robert Miles, The Corrs, R&B, Alternative, some Ambient, and female singers with guitars from Lilith Fair.
Musical Background: I started to be be aware of music when I bought my first Bon Jovi album, that was when I was still 13. From there, I discovered GNR, Jane's Addiction, , Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, QueenShryche (sic), Death Angel, Megadeth, Pantera, Nine Inch Nails, Slayer ,Tool etc.
I quickly lost interest in music altogether during the peak of the Grunge period. Bands like Alice In Chains and SoundGarden, were ok for a while, but I quickly got tired of them. I really hated (and still do) Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, etc.
After the grunge period, I was so sick and disillusioned by the whole music scene that I stopped listening to the radio altogether since everything they played was junk.
I turned to acid jazz for a short time before I discovered Dream Theater, that was when I realized that music is still very much alive, I was merely looking for it in all the wrong places. Thank God for the internet, I can now listen to bands like Type O Negative, Gordian Knot, Cynic, Demons & Wizards, Strapping Young Lad, Anathema, Nevermore, Cradle Of Filth, etc. Otherwise, I would still be in musical limbo. I'm still discovering new and exciting bands out there, and I have PEx to thank for that.
Oh, I also have cds of M2M and The Corrs, and I think Fiona Apple and Barry Manilow are fantastic singers......thought you guys should know.

from the Suburbs of San Francisco here..
grew up listenin to New Wave and House but since then my musical tastes are very varied. I guess my "home" musical genre would be Hiphop/R&B.
Since my involvement with PinoyExchange and all it's Rockloving members, I've grown to appreciate rock and all it's formats..
It's hard to post here in the Music and Radio forum due to the fact that most of my music know-how is in HipHop/R&B which isn't really mainstream in the Philippines.. I love to contribute now and then though and hopefully get everyone to like HipHop/R&B for the awesome genre that it is..
Listens to anything!!!! except rap... and those NU metal bands. Of course there could be expections like Sevendust, VOD, Deftones, Machinehead and etc. And oh i hate Korn and limp Bizkit....
but Metal is on the top list.. fav. bands include Dissection, Dark Tranquillity, Arcturus, Emperor, Aryeon, Nokturnal Mortum, Agalloch and etc. But i'm currently not in the mood to listen to metal. Alternative bands are my current taste. Currently listening to A Perfect Circle, Goo Goo Dolls, Collective Soul, Deftones and etc.
Listens to a few R&B stuff, The Corrs, a few BSB (heheheh), no Nsync, vertical horizon, leigh nash, bachleor girls, heather nova, sarah mclachlan and etc.
Sophie student, DLSU-CCS taking up Computer Engineering. I listen mostly to Acid Jazz, rock (except pop rock), funk, blues, and anything else that's worth merit. I play the bass guitar, and have been playing for nearly two years. My influences for the bass are Incognito, Jamiroquai (the one with the Filipino bass player), Incubus, Flea and other funk bands basta magling mag-implement ng triplets at 16th notes. I sing too, currently trying to expand my vocal range, because some notes are either too high when I sing at the original key, then too low when I step down an octave. I want to learn percussion/drums as well.
[i]If I hadn't made me
I would've been made somehow
If I hadn't assembled myself
I'd have fallen apart by now[i]
musical taste/fave bands
stage 1 - no "amor" for music heard exclusively metal from my grade school bestfriend .. the likes of anthrax, metallica .. but didn't appeal to me
stage 2 - i first "really" liked radio and commercial music when i heard nirvana's in bloom .. told myself why a song so "chaotic" sound so good.. started listening to seattle grunge.. hated mushy love songs(me=rebel without a cause)
stage 3 - listened to all sorts of music... influenced by musician pals and disco-fevered friends.. listened a wide variety of music weezer, 311, snow, the braxtons, soundgarden, nirvana, soul asylum, stp, madonna, bob marley .. to name a few
stage 4 - filtered that wide variety to just a few.. have become tolerant to other sorts of music
stage 5 - in conlusion artists whom songs/albums i keep in my cd rack or in my mp-three folders - the the(!!), stp, unplugged morisette, weezer, bjork, simon & garfunkel, new radiohead, macy gray, new alice in chains, old soundgarden, nirvana, dag, old live, 12 rounds, stp, marilyn manson, new neil young, tool(!!), sublime, *****, liz phair, nin(!!), old counting crows etc...
I'm just some dude who's slowly turning into a jazzhead.
19 year old female, second year college taking up English-Literature at DLSU. Currently a Literature major.
As for music I don't really define what I like. When it comes to saying what music I listen to I'll say the name of the band, not the genre they play, except in some days when I'm not in a good mood. I like The Corrs, Goo Goo Dolls, Savage Garden, Jann Arden (!!), Jewel, and well...the like. I also love boybands but not the Backstreet Boys nor Westlife. My favorite boybands are Boyzone and 5ive. Boyzone because they're one of the boybands that have proven that you don't need to dance to become a boyband and 5ive because they're real. Of course I love both of these boybands because they have good songs, good voices, good vocal harmony, and aren't really full of themselves. If there's anything I hate, its people who are full of themselves. ^_^
Other loves of mine are poetry (I write some myself), reading, music (duh!), anime, and working on my personal writing website.
I don't have any problem with anyone's taste in music so feel free to post em' up. My only target are the band's making the horrible music, not the person.--*prepares for pandaemonaeon's wrath*-deftones, incubus, korn, tool, papa roach, slipknot...the like--whatever genre they fall under
They're not gothic at all. The best way to describe their music is "Temper Tantrum Hard Rock". I recommend it for pre-pubescent teenager's who wants to kill themselves for the most trivial reasons like being grounded for not properly washing the car or being rejected by their girlfriend. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing you or anything...but that's the way their music is.Right now, I like Kittie. I've been in tuned with their music since last year and I thoroughly enjoy it. I'm not sure what genre they are in but they look like a gothic hard rock band. ("Do You Think I'm a *****", among others, is a cool song)
Good picks there especially on Gordian Knot, Nevermore and Demons & Wizards. Did you know that Strapping Young Lad was shut down temporarily by Devin Townsend? The dark days of Metal...Thank God for the internet, I can now listen to bands like Type O Negative, Gordian Knot, Cynic, Demons & Wizards, Strapping Young Lad, Anathema, Nevermore, Cradle Of Filth, etc. Otherwise, I would still be in musical limbo. I'm still discovering new and exciting bands out there, and I have PEx to thank for that.
For me, METAL was at its saddest during the Grunge days.
I haven't heard anything about Devin Townsend lately. I tried going to the Heavy Devy Records site, but it was down. What happened?

Musical taste: Currently, anything that NU 107 spews out. So that would be a variety of Fatboy Slim, EHeads, and some Incubus. Oh yeah, don't forget about Dave Matthews.
Certified rocker, but the farthest I could go is where NU would send me. So, I don't claim to be this all-intelligent, all-knowing, all-genres of rock.
As for other genres, they are tolerable. Hmmm... Wonder what happened to New Wave?
What happened to DMB? I sampled the first part of their newest single on Napster. It was so bad, I didn't care to finish downloading it.
