i think the maintaining grade is still 2.25 for the san martin after your 1st year in college.. and the maintaining is still per sem.. i am a san martin scholar.. my maintaining now is still 2.25, looks low but maintaining it is not easy.. hehe.. sometimes having high grades depends upon the prof because for some profs, the highest that they can give is 2.75 which i think is unfair for many scholars in UST..

you wont lose anything unless you try.. haha!! best of luck sayo!! marami naman klase ng scholarship sa UST eh.. haha! pero if i were you, i will apply for the San Lorenzo because the experience of working while studying is the best! im not a San Lorenzo scholar but they have my great respect.. but if you don't want to work, you can apply for the San Martin scholarship.. hehe.. yung company scholar ha(like me!).. kasi marami benefits although some company oblige you to work for them after you graduate pero advantage na yun kasi you wont find for work anymore..

onga pala, bilib ako sayo ah kasi you are conscerned about your parents! ako rin ganyan kasi thats one of the reason why i applied for a scholarship.. saka for me, my scholarship is my only pride! sana you will be granted para you will become one of us.. a Becarios de Santo Tomas member..

salamat talaga for all these informations you shared to me. I hope one day makakarating rin ako diyan at determined akong makapagtapos kahit paghihirap ang kasama nito.

'yung sta rita scholarship is available for girls only. 'yun ang sabi niya sa amin. try mo rin 'yung ibang scholarship.

sta. rita?? ang alam ko yung santa rosa de lima pero i think i already heard that.. my scholarship took me half a sem before it was granted upon me.. marami process saka marami gagawin.. thats what it takes to become a scholar of UST..

  8. #28
    ^ ah okay

haha im not sure kung sta rita 'yun or sta. rosa de lima scholarship or whatever it is. well you can try to inquire at tyk building about that scholarship. tsk tsk

basta this scholarship is available for girls only.

    ----

meron naman scholarships na hindi advisable for science majors. basta this scholarship requires heavy working hours a week. grabe

ahh ok. ok *** di **** ako girl eh.. hehe.=>

  10. #30
grabe, pahirapan ba yung mga babae?! haha.. tsktsk.. lam ko pinakamahirap din na workplace for the san lorenzo scholars is the "library"..!!

  11. #31
^^ haha! masmadali pala magapply ng Santo Tomas academic scholarship. kailangan mo lang maging vale or salu! hahahahah!

  12. #32
hahaha! onga eh kaso yan din ang scholarship na maraming natatanggal.. so sad.. almost a thousand pag freshmen pero pagdating ng higher years nangangalahati or less pa.. tsktsk..

  13. #33
^^That was meant sarcastically! though masmadali iprocess yung scholarship, hirap kaya maging vale or salu... hahaha!

oo nga, marami natatanggal.. survival of the fittest ito!! heheh!

  14. #34

Hi sa lahat!! I'm a San Lorenzo Ruiz scholarship grantee! Grad na ko batch 2007, from college of accountancy!

anybody from san lorenzo here??? or anybody na kabatch???

Madaming benefits: Free tuition fee including miscellaneous expenses and you will receive monthly allowance. You just have to render your service to the University for a couple of hours. Ako, i was assigned at the UST Center for Contextualized Theology and Applied Ethics and work for 20 hours a week. There, I get to work with the Dominicans, other priests, theology teachers, madre, etc.. etc... maraming masasayang experience din. marami ka makikilala.

This scholarship did not just help me with my financial matters in school but also helped me know and meet a lot of people, establish friendships, and somehow, build my personality. It taught me how to be disciplined and how to manage my time wisely kasi you have a 2.50 average that you have to meet - which is somehow a challenge for a working scholar becuase you have to make both ends meet (work and study).

Being a working scholar indeed played a big role in my life.

How did I avail of it, you may ask?

Yes it's true, you have to be enrolled first before you can apply for a scholarship. Anyway, the tuition fee you paid will be refunded to you but only to the extent of the fee that you paid on the semester you were admitted. So, if you were admitted only on the second semester of your first year, then the amount only equates to all the sum paid during that semester. The fee that you paid for the first will be forfeited.

It took me more than a semester before I was able to avail of the scholarship. I applied for one mid-2nd semester of my first year and was granted to me on the 2nd semester of my 2nd year. So, I spent 3-semester worth of tuition fee in college, but it's worth it naman. Just be diligent when it comes to passing all the requirements and to schedules of test and interviews to show your interest.

Then I underwent 3 series of interviews. The first, was from Ms. Castro (from the Office of Student Affairs, OSA), second from Dean Luanzon, third from Mr. Clavio (UST registrar). Then, after the interviews, i was asked to follow up for any available slots for working scholars. Ayun nga, I was assigned at CTE sa Thomas Aquinas Research Complex (TARC).

From then on, I worked from 1am to 5pm, monday to friday. Pero, with God's help, I was able to graduate naman with the scholarship.

Now, to maintain your scholarship, as far as San Lorenzo Ruiz scholarship is concerned, you must obtain an average of 2.50 for the semester, which does not include you P.E. You must have shown that you really attend to your duty (through your time card), and your Immediate Head is willing to renew your scholarship.

Try to follow up your application. Ifollow up no nang ifollow up *** application mo. As far as I know, hindi sila ang ko-contact sayo, ikaw dapat follow up sa kanila - to show ur eagerness and interest narin. Kasi marami ring gusto mag-apply nun ***, follow up nang follow up.

Uu, ako second sem ako nag-apply nun.
