I can't wait for 2011.![]()
wow ganda... court lang ba meron? are there other rooms na ibang sports? tamad ako magbasa hehee
Wow. That's massive. Congrats to UST and goodluck in building the new gym.
P.S. Didn't the Antonio brothers go to UST too?
Also si Lira Luis. She's the first filipino graduate of the famous Frank Lloyd Wright School right? Astig... I just don't know any of her projects though. hehehe..![]()
in 2010 hopefully. there is no reason to hurry up the construction since it has to live up to everyone's expectations. congratulations ust!
someone mentioned thomasian architect lira luis. here's her website: www.liraluis.com
The four-storey sports complex will house a basketball court, with bleachers to accommodate 5,792 patrons. Aside from basketball, the complex will also house the facilities for badminton, fencing, table tennis, indoor track, dancing, gymnastics, and a fitness center. There will also be classrooms, administrative offices, and space for food concessionaires. A multi-level parking space will also be built outside the gymnasium.
The new gym will also serve as a museum that will enshrine all the trophies, medals and other memorabilia of various UAAP championships the university has won throughout the years. Championship banners will also hang from the rafters of the gymnasium.

Does the indoor track means, an indoor track and field? Para kasing di na kakasya yun sa 4-story na building with a basketball stadium etc.

'Yun 'yun, eh! It's about time na magkaroon na sila ng tamang kalagyan, mini-museum ba for exhibition.![]()

Arci people are really concern about the growing problem in UST's scarcity of land. As a matter of fact, the UST Archi held a symposium in 2006 (When I was graduating) to raise the awareness among Thomasians. Unfortunately Dominican fathers were not interested in the concern intiated by the Architecture department. Not a single priest attended the symposium.
What is more frustrating to know is that UST doesn't have a University planning office...so hindi planado yang pag tayo nila ng pagtayo ng building. When I asked a certain professor if they have a say on the uncontolled infrastructure developments sa UST they say wala. Even more frustrating is that they keep on building buildings sa UST na hindi namamximize yung talent ng Architecture talents and Alumni...Take for example the Tan Yankee Student Center.
I hope this new administration of Fr. Rolando dela Rosa would be more open to this idea...we boast of the best Architecture program sa Philippines and yet hindi naman natin ginagamit sa sarili nating bahay.
I find it odd that Thomasian architects (at least the very famous ones) are hardly tapped for UST projects.
ust is beginning to become like la salle. cramped. the dominicans should consider suggestions from stakeholders esp. students/faculty/alumni. wala naman mawawala eh. see, even the tan yan kee center is , well, 'misplaced'. what on earth were they thinking when they constructed the edifice in front of the library? pati ba naman sa pagconstruct ng mga buildings sa loob, close minded pa din ang mga pari?
