An agent called me at my office today.
He said I will get a pre-approved East West Mastercard FREE FOR LIFE!!! Meaning no annual membership fee for life!!!

I told the agent I will think about it first.
Totoo kaya yung sinabi nya na waived for life yung annual fee?

Well since they are a startup credit card company compared to its big rivals like Citibank, BPI, HSBC, BDO so they will give the perks just to draw customers.

i hope someone could help me with my queries. When i was a newly grad from college i applied for a loan with pcib and my car was the collateral. To make the story short my business venture failed and i lost the car to the bank. The bank took it from me without me signing anything. That was fifteen years ago. I did not have any loans after that. i paid for everything in cash since then. That loan was a learning experience from me. Now i decided to try having a credit card because i now realize the convinience of having one. I just cant accept the fact the I am very qualified to have one at this time yet i was being denied by credit card companies. Its just frustrating and humiliating to be denied even a classic credit card. My question is do i have a record with cmap even if no cmap exist at the time i got the loan and is it the cause of my being denied a credit card? What do i have to do now that pcib no longer exist? Fifteen years have passed since the car was taken by the bank isnt it enough to erase my credit record? Please help. Thanks in advance.

Ang problema kasi sa CMAP at sa BAP Credit Bureau hindi open sa public ang kanilang database at policies. If you check the websites ang nakasulat lang doon lahat ng nag-default sa loans pati sa telecom bills ay nasa database nila. Hindi nakalagay kung from what years at kung nagbubura sila ng pangalan after a number of years.

When I got a savings account at some bank, my name was ran through a database. They found out that I have namesakes who have had defaulted on loans and have criminal (estafa) and civil cases from the 1980s. I had to sign a statement denying that I am the person on their list. My account was only opened after signing that statement.

PCIB was merged with Equitable in 1999. Equitable-PCI Bank merged with Banco de Oro in 2007. May be you can ask BDO. Usually yun branch ng PCI dati, naging Equitable yun, tapos yun mga Equitable naging BDO ngayon na, kaya naglipana yun BDO branches ngayon.

Just try to apply with every credit card companies. Even if you had a previous credit (and then became deliquent) but once you get cleared (meaning wala ka ng mga utang sa kahit anong bangko) may be there's a chance na ma-aprov ka ng CC.

Just try and try... someday you'll get approved.

Eastwest Bank CC, so far ok naman... Nag-apply ako dyan dati, and after 1.5 months, na approved ako, 2 weeks nga lang after na deliver yun card.

So far din, hindi pa din sila na-late sa pag deliver ng Statement... yun nga lang yun info ng cc balance mo over-the-phone hindi updated, kaya u need to talk talaga sa customer service rep...

    2.25%
    *** yun finance charge sa mga supermarket, drugstore and gasoline purchases;

2.75% *** yun finance charge with all other purchases.

^Yup. One thing I am most satisfied about EWB MasterCard is that the statements always arrive within one week from the statement date.

CMAP has been in existence for over 76 years. So it was already existing 15 years ago.

It would be unfair to say that having one's name in the negative records database is the sole reason why one's credit card application has been denied. There are a number of factors, and approving authorities from some banks I know can disregard negative findings and use their discretion. The most thing to consider talaga is capacity to pay anf character.

Btw, I used to work for the country's largest credit bureaus, CIBI Information and D&B Philippines. Our financing firm is a member of CMAP, and we subscribe to the BAP Credit Bureau's NFIS. Also, member din pala ako ng Credit Information Services Committee ng CMAP. So, I'm fairly knowledgeable about these things. Yan, free plugging!

I have a Citibank Gold Visa. I think I want an EastWest card.

Thanks for the info galactus. Actually the credit card issue is not my main concern. What really bothers me is my credit record. Since you are very knowledgeable in this matter, I would like to know your opinion ( more like confirmation actually) on how to clear my name in any credit bureau's data base. Is there any other way to erase my credit record aside from talking to the bank? And will the bank (BDO now) do that for me or i have to process things myself? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
