In addition to the jobs from the BPO itself, BPOs generated business for other businesses:

    - convenience stores like Mini Stop (seems they have more outlets now than Seven Eleven)
    - fast food chains
    - cafes/coffee shops
    - transport

Another new mode of transportation is the Pasig ferry. We tried it once when it was newly launched. The highlight was seeing Malacanang from the river side.

There were few passengers then, mostly local tourists. But it's now becoming more popular to commuters as reported in the news because of increasing fuel price.

TV shows are being marketed abroad. When we were in Malaysia, I saw GMA7's Bakekang , in original Tagalog with English subtitles.

Malaysian TV made an investment in ABC5 which allowed the station to revitalize its shows.

I think it's more of the outlook of the people nowadays--
It's COOL to be pilipino, you see people getting tatttoos and shirts, caps and jackets with our flag, promoting the filipino pride.

The more we market ourselves positively, the more other countries will see how great the country really is. Countries actually work hard to keep a positive image of themselves-- like our infamous rates of corruption, prostitution eh di niyo lang alam sa ibang country it's worse, they just don't advertise it.

    err,. hell hole,..
When i went to the Philippines last summer, The things that I deem as positive changes are:
    - a lot of Infrastructures as opposed to previous years,.
    - a significant improvement on politeness and cheerfulness of public establishment staff. (e.g. Guards at food establishments greeting us. I really appreciate it. A simple please, thank you and a smile really makes a difference eh?!,. )
    - The MRT and the LRT2. It was the first time i rode those trains. Save for the suffocating and crowded experience, it really is a relief compared to riding jeep and buses. Special mention to the LRT2, It's more spacious than the MRT. I hope it was the kind of train they used in MRT.
-Last, THE MALLS,. I mean, OMG,. When I went to MoA and Trinoma, I thought, "And they say that the Philippines is a poor country?". I mean come on, Those gigantic edifice filled with those number of people?

These are a welcome development,. I really hope this as continuous development,.

According to Bayani Fernando, he wants Metro manila to be in the pink of health.

Baywalk is still there minus some restos because Lim prohibited beer in the area.

I think the best time was when it was new. I remember the Baywalk guards in their bikes. It was a nice promenade.

Canyon Woods is really nice. Tagaytay and nearby towns are developing beautifully, hope they can maintain it.

You must be referring to Tara Santelices, the Ateneo graduate who was shot in a hold-up incident and is now fighting for her life. The support she's getting is really heartwarming.

A change in outlook is what we really need. I was browsing the posts on what makes a Pinoy and most of the posts were negative traits which led somebody to ask - wala bang noble?

^gawad kalinga, tulong dunong, pathways & the like. ang dami ng low key NGOs na very active for social change & upliftment. sa campus na lang ng ateneo they've got a large compound over there solely for groups working for a higher purpose/consciousness

^That's really a good development. Even "unknown" organizations like the association of our townmates who have migrated to the US have sponsored scholarships in our town.
