I heard news some of the IT companies in Makati have transferred their main offices there. Buti hindi kami kasama. Ayoko pa din diyan.

^Well, for me, if there's more than 1 dominant player in the market, then there's no monopoly. PLDT is no longer showing monopolistic behavior. Previously, people had to wait for ages to get a telephone connection. Now PLDT encourages people to have a landline (In their ad, "Iba pa rin ang may landline". And there's now a prepaid landline, the Teletipid). Internet connection used to be so expensive but when Globe introduced its P888 internet package, PLDT lowered its charges.

Probably, having 3 players still poses the risk of price collusion. But as of now, there doesn't seem to be one. Globe and Smart both advertise heavily which indicates competition. The newest entrant Sun challenges the 2 with innovative offers like unlimited text, then unlimited calls, etc. and Sun and Globe counter with their own offers.

Totally agree. Before, I used to accumulate thousands of bucks in charges from PLDT's per minute internet dial up VIBE. Now I have both broadband and a landline for the same cost of a PLDT landline.

Also, who would have imagined maids, drivers and schoolkids talking on the cellphone (as opposed to texting sparingly) courtesy of Sun?

Producers decided not to produce them when Henry Sy stopped the showing of bold flicks in SM cinemas because he said that SM is for family activities. (The percentage of SM cinemas to total number of cinemas must be big that SM was able to influence the trend in film making)

Philippine cinema (and yes, that includes bold flicks) has been in a decline for several years already due to piracy. Producers are discouraged to make films now because they know that even before the reels arrive at the cinema, copies are already being sold in Quiapo.

Re bold flicks, Pinoys don't get off on bold flicks anymore because they have access to a lot better stuff via the internet...

or they can make their own via their phonecams!

- Yung mga lagarista ng pelikula (cinema reel deliverymen) dati puros depadyak lang, ngayon mga naka motor na. Pinagsabihan nga ako nung isang Lagarista sa parking sa Libis at naka reserve daw yung slots para sa mga motor ng Lagarista.

- yung mga construction worker noon puros mukhang goons na nakakatakot na gutay gutay ang mga tshirt na suot, ngayon naka complete safety gear at may cellphone pa.

- ang maid ko dala-dalawa ang cellphone. Yung isa phonecam pa.

- halos lahat ng mga kaibigan ko sa Multiply and Friendster have gone abroad or in Boracay for vacations.

Are you sure the monopoly's been broken? There's now three major telcos but due to the Constitution's economic nationalism provisions we're stuck at 3. Still too little for prices to go down dramatically and to guard against price collusion.

While we have enjoyed price reduction in telecom (see my previous reply) , probably, prices can still be improved, if their profits can be used as basis. PLDT topped the most profitable among listed companies in the Phil. with an earning of P36B while the next telco Globe was at third place with P13.2B net income.

I thought the production of bold films was their response to the decline.

Anyway, bottom line is there are less bold films of the quickie kind.

yung indie bands nga lang ngayon parang di ko na mashadong trip. wala na yung mga bandang susundan ko kahit saan. nasaan na ang tropical depression at cocojam?

pagdating sa horror movies natin gusto ko sila heheehe. pero may mga horror movies na nag stick pa rin sa old formula. nawawala yung misterio. laging may na eextra na character na may third eye na sobrang OA. sana gawin nilang simple lang. pero ok pa rin.

yup wala na ring mashadong bold flicks. sana ibalik naman nila. iba pa rin ang bold flicks o mga ST movies.

isa pa sigurong dahilan kung baket nag decline ang pag produce ng movies eh dahil yung mga kilalang actors ngayon over exposed na. nag sawa siguro mga tao sa kanila. may mga kanya kanyang program sa TV, at parang walang freedom sila na gawin ang gusto nila dahil sa contract nila. pag ABS CBN, star cinema lang etc etc. sana matigil yung trend na yan para magbalik sa normal gaya ng dati.

pagdating naman sa mga books, walang mashadong na pupublish na pinoy na novels. nagiging illiterate kaya mga pinoy ngayon? hehehe bawas bawasan ang panonood ng TV at mag basa naman kayo.

Despite all those positive changes, have you guys noticed the way pasenger jeepneys look like? They still look the same from how they looked during the 60s-70s.

I could imagine, 100 years from now, with all the high tech cars around, jeepneys MIGHT still look the same.

^ The colorful and elaborate design of jeepneys is already part of our culture.

But I noticed that the Makati Loop jeepney is painted in plain color. They don't have the usual banners with slogans too e.g Katas ng Saudi, etc.

The positive development is that there are now electric jeepneys in Makati ( I read the launching of electric jeep in Ilo-ilo previous to Makati). Haven't tried one though.

I hear lots of discussions nowadays on Fil-Ams in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and how they affect the homegrown talents (positively and negatively). I'd still list it as a positive change because the Fil-Ams bring new brand of play and fresh ideas to the league.
