^^Hi there stanch! I've been to Jakarta and all i can say is grabe ang traffic dun. if you think Manila's traffic is bad, jakarta is worse.Hi,

although if your idea is to shop, then jakarta is for you. mura lang ang mga bilihin dun but then, CGK is just like manila na mas matindi ang trapik na walang sinasantong oras. food is good and there are lots and lots of mall there in Jakarta.
although it is near Malaysia and Singapore, English is rarely spoken there and definitely, it is hard to communicate there.
Based on your statement, parang hinde masyado recommended magpunta ng jakarta? since halos same lang sa pinas?
Mostly malls, shopping and eating? hehe
Hinde naman maraming manloloko dun like manila esp. on tourists?
Easily accessible naman ang taxi or did you make use of their lrt/mrt nung nag-iikot ka dun? =)
Thanks again men.
just like Manila, beware of pickpockets and street crimes as Jakarta has its share of that. basically it is just like Manila....dami malls, meron mga beggars, and the food...para kang nasa bicol kasi ang hilig din nila sa gata and spices. magkakamukha pa tayo ng mga indonesians so parang di ka rin umalis.Based on your statement, parang hinde masyado recommended magpunta ng jakarta? since halos same lang sa pinas?

oh one thing: their airport is way better than our old NAIA 1. il post some pics here later.
Hello! i'm here in jakarta now working. just arrived last month..
Traffic:
in my opinion, the traffic is not much different from EDSA.. pero kasi sa atin.. EDSA lang usually.. dito madaming lugar pwedeng magtraffic. Tama *** post above.. for no reason at all ang traffic dito.. wala namang accidents or rally.. basta ganun lang talaga..
Transportation:
Main mode of transportation is taxi..
Language:
How true na wala masyadong english speakers dito.. Mahirap talaga.. Madaling magpanggap na ***** ang mga taxi drivers pag di ka nila naiintindihan.. Learn basics siguro if you are planning to visit..
Hotel:
I saw the rate of Hotel Cemara.. meron silang IDR400,000.. mga P2,000.. okay naman yung hotel.. nasa business district na
halos siya..
Go See:
I've been (only) to the malls.. Pero I have my favorites.. For high end stuff- Senayan City.. may katabi siyang Plaza Senayan..
For cheaper items - Ambassador Mall.. similar to our St. Francis Square.. Pero for me.. much much much better.. maayos yung fabric for maybe P250-P400 for office clothes.. Ang divisoria nila ay Mangga Dua - so not recommended for those who cannot speak bahasa Indonesia.. It's hard to bargain when you are obviously a foreigner..
Sorry kung masyadong mahaba.. I know how hard it is kasi to search for information sa Jakarta.. wala masyado sa internet kasi nga not in English yung iba..
I found an English chatroom for the Indonesian Community. Mostly expats i think.. Check it out.. jakchat.com
Hope this was helpful.
"1. Taman Mini Indonesia Indah
2. Ancol. Ancol is in North Jakarta
3. Mangga Dua
You can also go to Plasa Senayan, Senayan City, or Grand Indonesia..
Actually, you can also go to a city called Bandung . It’s located 2 hrs South of Jakarta. The weather there is nice, cold around 17-20 degrees. There are lots of good food there, and factory outlets.."
What are your thoughts mga kababayans dyan sa Jakarta? =)
Also please help naman decide where ok magstay? =)
