Actually okay for me ang HSBC kasi halos lahat ng promos nila available for all card types, like the Caltex rebate. Appropriate talaga yung slogan nila na "The only credit card you'll ever need."
Just want to share: I was two days late with my payment for my credit card bill but they didn't charge me with penalty nor finance charge. Thanks HSBC!
Just sharing too, HSBC gave me 5 free movie passes for SM Cinema worth 170p each sent directly to my house by a courier, because I am a valued customer according to the letter. Seriously? I just have one month relationship with the bank. Haven't even received my first statement. Just received my CC last month. Nothing else, no other accounts with them. Enough to love them, no reason to hate them. Thank you HSBC!!! BTW only you can accept it otherwise, make an authorization letter with valid ID...
I think it was a promo that they had for online applicants who subsequently got approved for a card from May to June. The link is no longer at the website, probably because the promo has ended. I think one of the terms and conditions is that the card should not be cancelled within the first 12 months after issuance.![]()
I tried applying for this one online (not submitting any scanned documents), for VISA and after 5 banking days I received a call from them, asked me about the current cards I use. I told them about my first card (EastWest MC), a year old card, and a recently activated card (BPI MC). I didn't tell them about the other credit card that arrived a day before (RCBC MC)... After that, he told me that I just need to submit an ID (Driver's License or a Passport preferred) within the day or at least 'til before lunch the next day and he'll call back to follow-up just in case I forgot (I told him, "I'm a bit pre-occupied at the moment"). I didn't send any though.
Haven't heard from them 'til yesterday, banking day 6, though I never expect hearing anything from them XD
That RCBC MC (still unused as of this very moment) is supposedly a VISA, I don't know why they've sent me a MC. And what's funny is that I didn't send any supporting documents for that. I even missed the phone call they've made because it was already beyond our working hours. (A colleague who was doing overtime was able to answer the phone, but was never asked anything related to me.)
All these banks are really weird XD
Hi Pips,
Can you help me about this late transaction that was posted to my credit card account at HSBC? The transaction date was Sept 10, 2011 and it was just posted last 1st week of July to my account. Imagine 10 months! I pay my balances on time and nagulat na lang ako dito. Nireklamo ko na sa HSBC and ask them to reverse since di ko na mavalidate ang transaction na ito but they said that they cannot do anything about this and I need to coordinate this with the mall that posted it. Can you help me with this one? 1200 lang naman ang amount but I think it is truly unfair dahil wala na sa akin ang resibo at di ko na matandaan kung ako nga ang bumili nito. Hope you can advise me what to do. Thanks
baka nga kasalanan nung merchant. you can request for a copy of the receipt afaik
Siguro mag-request ka na lang ng copy ng transaction receipt and check it against your statement 10 months ago.
That happened to me too. The transaction posted after 7 months. I checked my statement 7 months back to see if the same transaction was posted, but it wasn't there. Therefore the posting was valid.
^Really?? Naku wag naman sana.
Anyway, I called HSBC to request for annual fee reversal and ang dami nila offers to qualify for 100% waiver but I opted for 50% since there is no requirement for that. Okay na din kesa magbayad ng full 1,200. Di ko naman kasi mapa-cancel at may unbilled installment charges pa ako. So thank you na rin HSBC for the 50% waiver.
When I started working, I picked up the habit of listing down my daily spending in a diary. There were times when I would wonder what had happened to my meager earnings, and that diary reliably gave the answers. I still do that today. Aside from my cash disbursements, I list down credit card charges. Nothing elaborate - card used, amount, and merchant name. If a situation like butterflyboy's would happen to me, I could go back to the diary and check to see if the charge was legit, even if I no longer had the sales slip.
You are going to be using your credit card a lot, until you are really old, and I recommend this practice for everyone. It doesn't take a whole lot of time and can help save a lot of worry and aggravation. It doesn't even cost me money to buy a diary; I just use those corporate giveaways that get handed out every Christmas.
Hi,
Sorry to inform you but HSBC will not reverse that amount if it is a validated and verified transaction, merchants have certain period of months to submit transaction to the bank and this is a policy. I used to work for an international bank and a merchant has 12 months to submit a valid transaction to the bank, however 5 years ago p to, di k n sure about the policy if there has been any changes. Let me clear that this is only based on my knowledge and experience and not the actual policy for HSBC, hope this helps.
Hi Butterflyboy,
It may be the fault of the merchant. I remember that I have experienced the same thing luckily I listed all my expenses in a small diary like Kuya Danny mentioned.
I think it helps you too when you backtrack your expenses and those CC transactions. Hope that you may also learn from this scenario and be mindful of your CC transactions.
^Hi MakaveliLives. To help me better answer your question, may I know what feature you are looking for in a credit card?
superonyx is very much willing to help. i appreciate it so much. one of the credit card gurus here in pex.
I've got this excel file where all my debits and credits are listed... from Phone Bills to Credit Cards. Each time I crave for a gadget, I look at the sum of all my debits minus the sum of the credits and whenever it's above a limit I've set, then my cravings are reduced a little XD
Upon reading yours sir, I'm now finding all the invoices and slips I had to add them to the list so when time comes I need to double check my transactions, I can easily find them XD. Thanks for the heads up. XD
As much as possible, I only bring one card, and I always bring the same amount of cash that I need to swipe. I'm always paranoid that my card will not be accepted and for me, it's a totally humiliating having your card denied. (which happened to me once... good thing I've got cash) XD
One other thing, keep your old statements. They will come in handy in situations such as butterflyboy's. You can throw away your charge slips as soon as you check them off against the statements, but keep the statements for a year, at least, and preferably three years. Some people are more diligent and scan their statements. That's even better, if you have the time and equipment.
