Has anyone tried getting his/her annual fee waived, without affecting the rewards points? I was given a pre-approved BPI blue MC for maintaining a savings account with them. I hung on to it, because there's no annual fee in the first year, of course. Sayang naman if I don't take advantage, kahit one year lang. Considering cancelling it if they insist on charging me.
ETA: Ok, just read through the whole thread. It seems like there's a better chance for loyal BPI clients, those who make big charges on their gold cards and pay in full every month. I do pay in full every month, but there was a month when I didn't use my card at all (just to test myself, haha). Been a BPI client for life, since my parents opened a JA for me when I was a kid. Also maintain a time savings account with them. I'll just try my luck with getting a waiver.![]()

HI!
I saw an AD from the Philippine Daily Inquirer last Saturday. But I'm not sure of the details. BPI CC is giving away free TOUGH Jeansmith denims for every 10K accumulated spent.
It's really cool of BPI to give perks to its clients!
A TOUGH JEANSMITH costs around 4K each!![]()

I just got my annual fee waived yesterday. I asked nicely instead of coming on strong with threats of cancelling my account. My conversation with the CSR:
Me: Hi, I'd like to request waiving my annual fee.
CSR: Can I have your account number?
Me: (dictates account number)
CSR: Is it your first time to be charged your annual fee?
Me: Yes.
CSR: Do you have BPI account?
Me: Yes.
CSR: Which branch?
Me: Araneta Cubao.
CSR: Okay. Can you hold the line for 1-2 minutes?
Me: Sure.
(After 1 minute)
CSR: Okay ma'am, your annual fee will be reversed in 2-3 days. Would you like to get your confirmation number?
Me: Sure. Let me just get a pen.

^ Haha. I wish!
Maybe it's because:
1. I use my card frequently
2. I always pay my bill in full on time
3. I've been with BPI forever
4. I always use bpiexpressonline.com
5. I called up early morning so the CSR wasn't in a foul mood yet.
Did you try threatening to have your card cancelled?
No I haven't tried the cancel the card tactic yet . I think because I don't use it that often (around 2000 a month only) and because I have only been a cardholder for 3 years. In fact all the points I have earned through 3 years is still not enough to get the annual fee waived.
Nice, Ada! That gives me hope. My first annual fee charge is also coming up in the next statement.I qualify for numbers 1-4. I might as well do #5 too.
But I really will cancel if they don't waive it for me, because they just gave me my card, without me having to apply or submit documents. Sigh. Oh, credit card. You are my best friend and my worst enemy.
Hello, I'm new to credit cards. I'm planning to apply for my first credit card sa BPI. Di ko pa alam kung BPI Express Credit Card or BPI Mastercard ang kukunin ko.
Tama bang ang pagkakaintindi ko that BPI Express Credit Card is like the Security Credit Card?
Tanong ko lang po kung ilang months bago ka maaprove sa application ng credit card mo? Kung wala kang credit history, malaki probability na hindi ka maapprove? How about if I have a BPI account for years (4-5 years) or I have a steady income of 30K, malaki ba probability to have the application be approved?
Ang dami ko tanong...
Thanks
