Btw, I'm thinking of having tempered glass for my backsplash.

Ayoko sana kasi ng tiles kasi parang mahirap linisin at saka I hate grouts.
Well, for one it was the leak that should been addressed in the first place. Very resistant to water na yan kung ganun. You can router the sides or pwede mo ring lagyan ng routed lines sa front. Plywood is ideal kasi sa over all use and yung mga old school na Karpintero still prefer this lalo na kung matiaga pang mag lagay ng barateha. As a builder, wala naman type na pangit kasi lahat yan may pinaglalaanan so we cannot disparage one because some people uses it not for it's ideal purpose.

Hi cyberpunk, thanks for correcting me.. I should say Medium-density fiberboard (MDF ) It is similar in application to plywood but made up of separated fibers, not wood veneers. It is denser than normal particleboard. In other words ,We call MDF as Fiber board.

Thanks for the input kahit di ko naintindihan most of it. I'm not familiar with construction jargons kasi. Nagtitingin tingin lang ako ng materials dahil nga sa renovation, and it's one of the more evident difference I've observed -- yung mukhang sponge ang MDF. Not to mention ang mahal ng modular kitchens that use MDF (although I haven't encountered a modular kitchen that uses plywood). Btw, wala pong leak dun sa lababo. It's probably just the humidity.

Baka particle board yun. If humidity got it then it must be old and MDF is relatively new. Particle boards are more widely used by the early pre-fab kitchen suppliers here in the philippines from the high end Maco Kutchen to the mid Mobel Systema to the more economical San Jose brand. They supplied Particle board kitchen cabs more than 30 years ago.

    hi angeljolie,

Pag nag pa install kayo ng sink remind the installer to use a butyl-rubber caulk as a seal. Ganun din sa built-in hob type range dapat may butyl seal. Some built in range comes with this sa box.

Yeah, that's it. Butyl na yung black na parang alkitran. That will do the job and your installer just went further with the silicone. Unnecessary but no harm done some old habits never die. Good for him. Single hole sa granite? An extra hole would be better.

San Jose Kitchen Cabinets Systems uses laminated marine plywood in their modular kitchens. Been buying scrap laminated marine plywood from San Jose in the past weeks at PHP10 per kilo.

I was able to renovate my bathrooms by making toiletry cabinets, medicine cabinets with mirror, tissue paper holder, liquid soap dispenser mount, cleaning materials hanging shelf/open cabinet, shampoo shelf/open cabinet. Plus the stainless steel pipes, holders, and flanges from Soler Manila, it only cost me about 1K for each bathroom.

I still have a lot of lined up DIY projects from these laminated marine plywood scraps.
