Another destitute performance of the HB. No lucky win for tonight.
Stop Matute and Lopez, and you stop the Bombers.
Mukhang yan ang gagayahin ng ibang teams. So unless yung ibang players eh mag-step up, mukhang mahihirapan ang Bombers.
We watched in the Arena last Saturday and saw how San Beda dominates Jose Rizal all throughout the game. The Heavy Bombers are afraid to drive and take shot. They are passing the ball up to the last 7 seconds.
Where's the DEFENSE that Vergel always said during post game interview? Lopez, Matute, Villarias are better to play Jai Alai, as their shot always hit the back board. Mendoza, Camasura and Almario have the potential playing patintero. Jeezz...I think the Heavy Bombers will not recover from that lost and their win streak will stop at 6. These players doesn't want to win, instead they are content of playing basketball live nationwide.
No wonder other alumni's refrain to watch and support the games of JRU. As long as they are inconsistent, other teams will continue to disrespect this "tsambador" Heavy Bombers team.

I agree going up against the Letran Knights is CRUCIAL. But I have to disagree that the only weapon they have versus the Jose Rizal Heavy Bombers is intimidation. Remember that team convincingly beat San Sebastian in the opening game. Aside from Kevin Alas, Letran have Cortes, J. Alas, Racal, Belorio and Almazan. Those players are really BIG and can control the paint both offensively and definsively. Jose Rizal is not known as a physical team and no player can really lift them to victory. You must also consider that they are the host team this season and they can bring the whole Letran comminity to Arena.
Now, Vergel Meneses was a great player in his amateur and professional career. Aside from the PBA's greatest players, his record hasn't been broken in the All Star games, he won the MVP Plum 4 times. However, Louie Alas, have made a name for himself in coaching. He proved that he can win championship (with Letran), made his name in the pro ranks, steering Talk N' Text to semifinals and how he was respected by his peers.
Experience, front line up, bench, crowd support and shooters favored Letran to win that game against Jose Rizal. Jose Rizal, doesn't have anything to prove that they can beat this team. Why? All of their wins are by pure luck or "tsamba". Our batch are disgusted with this current line up, I don't know how they are recruiting players? It seems that they are content with the transferees and getting from intrams. There's a difference of playing to win or simply just play basketball for the heck of it. I must admit, I don't have the confidence Jose Rizal can win any of their remaining games.
They are done for the season.
Guys, expect a truckload of beers from etsok21 once we win our game tomorrow.
Etsok21 Ė Pre, joke lang ha, hehehe I think tomorrow maganda laro natin.
Anyway, for me, Iím expecting at least seven wins this second round for the Heavy Bombers. They are not contender this season but the way I see it, they will (again) grab a position in the Final Four.
Why will I be happy, where there are still a lot of things need to improve? Look, what happened to Perpetual they fall to Arellano in their last game. Jose Rizal is not consistent with their games, except for their turnovers. Yes, they haven't proven anything and in fact it wil be no surprise if they end up in the bottom of the standings.
They simply cannot beat BIG teams in the NCAA.
Affected ang tatamaan sa comments ko sagad sa buto. In fact, they haven't proven under Meneses. Did they made it to the finals? Final four na lang hirap na hirap pa. Paano, walang maayos na recruitment program. If JRU really wanted to win a championship, they have to invest in their players. Gone are the days of scholarship, allowance of 2k per month, free meals and quarters.
Look what happened with Cardona, Borboran, Espiritu, Acosta, Agovida, Vigil, Saret, Cipriano, etc. JRU let them GO...
I've been supporting JRU since grade school and seeing these problems over and over again every new season really made me sick. So, don't tell me that I am not aware of their standing and being negative...it's you that are clueless on the sports program of Jose Rizal.
uhm... i don't know. i mean prior to paul supan taking over as athletics director, hindi ganon ka-established ang sports progam niyo. not just basketball, i'm referring overall.
nung pumasok siya, nagkaroon kayo ng gym. i'm not sure where the money came from (whether it was investors or alumni), but that was the time ang daming nagbago sa campus niyo. una kong napansin yon nung nagka-building sa tabi ng monumento ni rizal, yung law bldg., then the gym followed.
during the 2006 season, masaya na si supan non na nampupuwing na sila ng mga kalaban with guys like dedicatoria, sena, cagaco, wilson, and hayes. tapos there was no way but up as ariel vanguardia steered the bombers to final four appearances and a finals to remember vs san beda.
after he left, vergel had to do some rebuilding since pawala na rin yung core ni vanguardia non. still, they still manage to hang in there and actually end up in the top half of the standings every time. and i don't think pababayaan lang ni supan basta-basta yung nasimulan niya.

I know where celtics is coming from he wants whats best for JRU. This is not to put the admin on the bad light but we havent accomplished anything to make JRU be compared with other colleges or univiversities from the organization. We cant deny the fact that we are somehow behind in terms of our Sport program. We are now 7 years away to celebrate our Centential and whats bothering me is until now we havent tasted the Championship title.
But Im not losing my hope and faith with the BOMBERS. I wont get tired from supporting them.
Goodluck sa game natin with LETRAN later.
