It's not coincidence that you had it easier viv, its more on how you carry yourself when you apply for a job or transfer. Everybody has to make their mark once they get out of CSB. You are one of the lucky few who went beyond. Like I said before, I can cite other Benildean alumni who grew beyond their own courses and took up different professions. The other one is an MMA professor that graduated with a Human Resources Management degree.

As for academics, it it is relatively easier if the student has a good academic foundation from his/her high school. The ones who drop or re-take subjects are usually the ones who reinforce the negative stereotype all the time because of their lack of good habits or the drive to excel beyond average. I hope a few rotten tomatoes don't spoil the whole basket. We're not just good to look at or showbiz material, we're smart, decent, and hard-working Benildeans!

They said CSB daw ay tapunan ng mga bopols or bulok na student.

But like what I always say, if CSB is tapunan ng mga bopols, then CSB must be one of the best. Why? because the college make something if not much more out of those considered as nothing by other universities. The best universities accept only the best as they brag, logicwise, if they are already best (students), what or how much have the institution contributed in their development. In CSB we accept the not so good students but they end up doing good, CSB exerted 100% effort in transforming these students and that what makes a good institution. just like there were 2 artists, one gave up because he said the materials are inferior, then came the 2nd artist who made a masterpiece out of those inferior materials, question, who is the better artist? the one who gave up or the one who persisted and made one good output.

    +1 ako dito!

That's actually the explanation I gave my mom when we were discussing whether I should enroll in CSB or UP (my mom didn't mind where I would go as long as I would do my best, but she was worried about the tuition at first; my dad was the one who wanted me to go to UP.)

Sabi ko sa mom ko, "They're not looking for the smartest students; they're looking for the most talented or the most passionate." Not all jobs naman kasi require a person to be good at Math or Science. There are plenty other jobs that require excellency in let's say Art, Music or even PE, and they're none lesser than other jobs.

Ayun, na-ENTRACA, Blazer na ako! Hopefully I get to keep the scholarship; otherwise I might have to leave huhu.

Some people always say that in La Salle schools, "pera pera lang" palagi. They always associate the word "money," like they don't use it in their schools, duh

    a.............i forgot what to say.

I didn't quite get what he/she was trying to imply about money!

But let me try analyze anyway, the cost of education in Lasalle schools is not to be mistaken for an easy breeze or getting desired grades. You end up paying double for not studying harder by repeating or not spending time wisely to finish it. Or worse which is to stop or move schools. And it happens to other students from other universities or colleges too if I recall.

It makes no sense to say that an educational institution can thrive on "pera pera lang" when students end up paying more for not knowing any better. But do we monopolize such stereotypes of using such a line? I beg to differ. You can also try that dialogue starting with your basic traffic enforcer or policeman, and up to the judiciary or local government units if circumvention through monetary means is your educational background. He/she may be referring to the "affluent" portion of the Benildean student population but the rest in reality are middle to lower middle-class plus scholars. No one can buy their way out of failing. You can only buy the next subject needed to finish that diploma again and again.

The stereotypes will always be there. Of course there's a history to that, but people just prefer to listen to the bad points, unfortunately. Good on ya for keeping your head up and not falling for hearsays!

I'm an incoming Junior, and I'm loving every bit of my MMA life in Benilde. I'm very proud of my school and the excellent, talented and extraordinary people who just keep busting that damn stereotype! School hasn't started yet, but I give you a warm welcome to Benilde

Promise. Lahat na ng kalokohan nagawa pero nung last year ko sa csb ay eh nagtino na ako. Best chapter of my journey is in CSB.

So, MSTHM student ka? Yun pa lang ang graduate degree ng CSB eh.

hehe... think it goes with typical filipinos personality having crab mentality...to pull people down or look down people...this is obvisously not healthy mentality and/or immature.

What's impt is that thy school has equipped you to face challenges you're gonna face in real world...I don't see UP,DLSU, ADMU are far better than other schools...only in the Phils that people tend to discrminate each other. No wonder why phils are beig discriminated too by asian countries like SG, Malaysia, HK, USA, CHINA, Europe...pls wake up as there's no point of argung if we can't even clean up our own backyard.

napaka-diverse ng culture sa csb.. IMO, every building has its own character and I can tell you, majority of benildeans in those 3 buildings are down to earth and friendly.. sila pa nakakasama mo kapag break and gimmicks!

and look how csb improves and upgrades its facilities, its fascinating! napapasok ko nga significant one ko sa csb-taft, who comes from a UAAP school, bilib na bilib sa ganda ng facilities natin pati pinakain ko sa cafeteria natin, nakita niya na disiplinado tayo!

how much more if I tour her to sda and akic..

we're a college being looked down because of those stereotypes before, but look now, we're the ones who can really take them to school literally and figuratively!

I'm an incoming alumnus come July! see you PICC!

    Animo Benilde!

I really wish I could say everything is okay now within CSB as far conquering stereotypes are concerned, but there are still people who can't seem to figure out how to manage students, particularly the student-athletes. The Center of Sports Development needs an overhaul starting from it's head, Mr. Sonny Alvarez aka Mr. Archer. Effective communication and respecting student organizations are needed. Nevertheless I'm proud of this new generation of Benildeans who are smart enough to achieve goals and fight for their rights politically.
