Finally, there are reports from bookers of other movie productions na kumikita sa takilya ang pelikula nina Angeline Quinto at Coco Martin na Born to Love You.

Now, makakahinga na nang maluwag si Angeline who, for the last few days, admitted na ’di siya halos makatulog habang nalalapit na ang showing ng movie.

Star Cinema and Cinemedia, which co-produced Born to Love You, still have to release the figures ng kinita ng movie on its first day.

Basta ayon sa mga tao behind the two productions, may dahilan for them to wear those happy smiles habang showing ang pelikula.

Lalo na, of course, si Coco, who takes to the movie as his most important challenge to date. Naturally, si Direk Jerome Pobocan din dahil this is his first movie bilang director.

‘Every Breath U Take’ Grosses P42.8-M in 2 Weeks

The Piolo Pascual-Angelica Panganiban starrer–”Every Breath U Take”–has raked in P42.8 million in 2 weeks.



Topping the local box-office for the weekend period of May 23 to 27, 2012 is “Men in Black 3” with a 5-day gross of P71.22 million.

“Every Breath U Take” settled for second place on its second week with the current total gross of P42.8 million.

The other Pinoy movie, “The Mommy Returns“, has grossed P30.6 million in 3 weeks.

The highest-grossing movie in the Philippines for the year 2012 so far is “Marvel’s The Avengers” with a current box-office total of P640.26 million.

Hahahaha!) sa movie (Born to Love You) nina Coco Martin at Angeline Quinto na as of presstime ay patuloy pa ring pinipilahan sa mga sinehan all over the country much to the chagrin of the aging AC/DC woman with the cheap ill-fit- ting dentures. Sino pa ba naman kasi ang maniniwala sa guranggang lolang ito na araw-araw ay salit-salitang binabanatan ang mga artista ng Dos out of sheer envy for the simple reason that she’s no longer being acknowledged by Piolo Pascual and the rest of the gang for they know that she has nothing but her own selfish interest in mind and not in any way the betterment of the artist involved or the industry as a whole?

FOR a beginner actress, mahusay si Angeline Quinto sa pelikulang Born To Love You ng Star Cinema at Cinemedia na first time nilang pinagsa-mahan ni Coco Martin.

May mga times nga lang na hindi maayos ang pagkaka-make-up sa dalaga kaya pumapangit ang itsura niya sa screen lalo na du’n sa bandang simula. Pero sa latter part ng movie, magandang-maganda na si Angeline.

But when it comes to acting, pasadong-pasado si Angeline. Kaya niyang makipagsabayan kay Coco, huh!

Naloka kami sa eksenang pinuputulan na ng buhok ni Angeline si Coco. After maputol ang bangs, biglang nagtilian ang mga tao sa sinehan. Ang guwapo nga naman ni Coco nu’ng malinis na ang itsura niya, huh!

Dahil sa success ng Born To Love You, napatunayan ni Coco na kaya na rin niyang magdala ng isang pelikula. Bukod sa pagiging top-rater ng kanyang Walang Hanggan na umabot pa ng 40 percent ang rating, interesado na rin ang publiko na magbayad sa sinehan para panoorin siya.

"Phenomenal Box Office Star" Vice Ganda will have a new film in the works co-starring actress Toni Gonzaga. Vice and Toni, who both have a string of mega-hits under their belt, will join forces in a comedy film under Star Cinema with the movie title of "This Guy's Inlove with you Mare."

Set to be released on October this year, both Toni and Vice said that they were all excited to work with each other and they claimed that the project will succeed in the near future.

Pagkatapos kumita ng mahigit P100 M ang Kimmy Dora 2, Piolo sunud-sunod ang ipo-produce na pelikula

Masaya si Piolo Pascual sa kinalabasan ng pelikulang Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme. Isa kasi ang aktor sa mga producer ng nasabing proyektong pinagbibidahan ni Eugene Domingo. Mahigit P100M na ang kinita ng pelikula at patuloy pa rin itong pinipilahan sa mga sinehan ngayon.

“We’re just really thankful, happy, kasi rito sa second venture namin sa film. Sabi ko nga sa mga ka-partner namin dun, kailangang kumita ’yung pelikula kasi rito nakasalalay ’yung future ng Spring Films para makagawa pa kami ng maraming pelikula. With the help of Star Cinema and ABS-CBN we were able to reach our target,” pahayag ni Piolo.

Maraming pelikula ang nakaplanong i-produce ng aktor sa susunod na taon.

“We’re still looking at scripts and stories but hopefully one of the three projects that we are working on hindi ko pa masabi, and then there’s also a teen movie. Then there’s another one na siyempre lahat ito dumaan sa matinding scripting and planning so, hopefully makagawa rin kami ni Eugene. Of course we’re really inspired ngayon.

“Sabi nung isang producer namin hopefully maka-tatlo kaming pelikula next year. It’s a collective effort, lahat kami from Direk Joyce (Bernal), and Eugene, she gave more than one hundred percent. So, tulong-tulong kasi parang we want to inspire others also,” giit pa ni Piolo.

Angel-Dingdong shooting sa Baguio, dinadagsa ng fans!

Nakapag-three shooting days na ang pelikulang One More Try ng Star Cinema.

Ito ang pelikulang nagtatampok sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon kina Dingdong Dantes, Angel Locsin at Angelica Panganiban.

Sa Baguio ang naging unang location nila ng tatlong araw at karamihan daw ng mga eksena, puro sina Angel at Dingdong muna.

Isang eksena lang daw ang kinuhanan kay Angelica sa Baguio at bumalik din ito ng Manila after her scene.

Bukod sa iba’t ibang lugar sa Baguio, nag-Benguet din sila ng location. At halos lahat nga raw ng pag-shooting-an nina Angel at Dingdong, palaging dinarayo ng mga tao at tuwang-tuwa na makita at mapanood ang dalawa ro’n.

Anyway, kung tutuusin, hindi na rin naman bago kina Dingdong at Angel ang magkatrabaho. Dati na ngang nai-direk ni Dingdong si Angel sa pelikulang Angels noon. Ang kaibahan nga lang ngayon, leading lady na niya ito at hindi na siya bilang director.

Si Angelica naman ay nakasama na ni Dingdong at naging leading lady na sa Segunda Mano. Nang tanungin namin kung ano ang kaibahan ng dalawang leading ladies niya ngayon, sinabi nitong, “Meron silang kanya-kanyang unique na paraan para maipakita ang kanilang galing. Pareho silang professional.”

Feeling ni Dingdong, nakatulong din daw ang relax na atmosphere ng location nila sa first three shooting days nila ng movie para mas ma-feel nila ang mga character nila sa One More Try.

Sa naturang shooting na nga halos dumiretso si Dingdong mula sa mga naging shows niya sa abroad.

Siya sa New York at kasama na si Marian Rivera sa Canada at saka sila tumuloy sa Spain kung saan, doon ay dinalaw nilang muli ang Papa ni Marian at ilang kaanak nito.

“Masaya ‘yung buong trip. Masaya rin ako na nakita at nabisita natin ang mga kababayan natin abroad. It was all great,” sabi ni Dingdong.

Look test ngayong nina Kris Aquino, Piolo Pascual at iba pang cast na bubuo sa Star Cinema movie na may working title na Undo na tungkol sa annulment. Si Chito Roño ang director nito sa script ni Mia Concio.

Maganda ang story ng movie at sabi ni Kris, umiyak siya nang mabasa ito.

May two kids siya rito at ang isa’y si Ella Cruz. Si Atty. Katrina Legarda ang gaganap sa role ng judge, si Atty. Joji Alonso as Piolo’s lawyer at kinukuha si Atty. Adel Tamano bilang lawyer ni Kris. Post-Valentine ang playdate nito.

Uunahin ni Kris ang MMFF entry nila ni Vice Ganda na Sisteraka, pero ayaw nito ng title.

Ang dalawang pelikula, plus ang Kris TV ang nagpapa-busy kay Kris lalo’t pumupunta sila sa provinces at dahil sa mga nakikita, very proud nitong sinabing “Philippines is love!”

Matagal nang zero ang lovelife ni Kris at payo ng friends niya, mag-travel siyang mag-isa sa Europe at baka may makatabi sa airplane.

“Ang advice ni James (Yap), kung gusto ko magka-relasyon uli, baguhin ko ang sarili ko,” sey ni Kris.

Hindi lamang si Kim Chiu ang kabataang artista na kinabahan ng husto nang makasama si Gov. Vilma Santos sa engrandeng tribute ng Star Cinema sa aktres, ganundin si Martin del Rosario na gumaganap ng role bilang anak ng aktres sa The Healing.

“Kahit konting hawak lang ng kamay, kabadung- kabado na ako, kasi si Ate Vi ’yun. Bihira lang siyang gumawa ng movies ’tapos nakasama pa ako at mag-ina ang role namin. Kami ang laging magkaeksena. Bago mag-take pinag-uusapan muna namin ’yung scene, kung paano namin gagawin. ’Tapos sabay naming nire-rehearse, bago pa ang rehearsal ng direktor.

“Kahit sikat na siya, napaka-humble pa rin niya. She eats with the cast and staff and off cam concerned siya sa aming lahat,” papuri ng young actor na isa lamang sa mga kasama sa movie.

Caution: Huwag kayong mag-dare manood ng pelikulang The Healing, topbilled by Batangas Governor Vilma Santos, ng nag-iisa.

Better still, huwag lang isa ang isama n’yo. Sa halip, barkadahan na.

Ang sarap kasi na marami kayong nagsisigawan at naghihiyawan habang pinanonood – breathlessly – ang bawat eksena sa pelikula.

For us, it is the ultimate suspense and horror film na napanood namin.

Hindi puwedeng ’di kayo makaramdam ng takot — takot for the characters in the movie na naging biktima ng sumpa.

And yet, sa totoo lang, ayaw n’yong ipikit ang inyong mga mata, ’di lang sa takot sa pinanonood na eksena, kundi sa takot na ’di kayo magiging saksi kung bakit at paanong nangyari ang sumpa.

’Di puwedeng ’di saluduhan si Ate Vi (the endearing way she is called in showbiz) for having made it a habit to constantly gulatin tayo with every project she offers us, her audience, sa tuwing magka-comeback siya on the big screen, especially.

Thank you to Direk Chito Roño for having offered Ate Vi The Healing and for directing it, too.

At the special preview of the film, na twice ginanap noong Martes sa isa sa mga cinema ng Shangri-La EDSA, binigyan si Direk Chito ng masigabong palakpakan.

The same was accorded to Ate Vi.

Ditto with the rest of the cast, like Janice de Belen, Pokwang, Kim Chiu, Ynez Veneracion, Ces Quesada, Cris Villanueva, Carmi Martin and Daria Ramirez.

Sayang at wala si Martin del Rosario, who plays a lead role in a movie for the first time.

He portrays half-brother to Kim and the son of Ate Vi.

We learned that Martin was at the taping of Pintada, which marks his first lead role in a tv series as well.

Denise Laurel is assigned the title role naman.

No-show din sina Mark Gil at Joel Torre, who may be in taping, too, that time.

In any case, spotted at the The Healing special preview were Piolo Pascual, Xian Lim, Maja Salvador (who came with Matteo Guidicelli) and Christopher de Leon. We are glad to mention, too, the presence of Senator Ralph Recto and Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste.

Now in Manila after several years of residing in the U.S. is Hilda Koronel, who is set to do the movie, The Mistress, with Star Cinema.

Directed by Olive Lamasan, The Mistress marks the reunion between John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo.

It has been a while since John Lloyd and Bea last appeared in a movie together.

Hilda arrived with her American husband a week ago.

The Healing has all the earmarks of a fairly typical Filipino horror movie. It takes some element of our local folklore (in this case, faith healers) and brings it to horrific ends. But the movie turns out to be much more than that. Though it stalls the action a little too much, the film is still undeniably fun. It cleverly works in a bit of humor within all the grisly action, and adds a plethora of stylistic touches to make everything feel just a little bit different.

Seth (Vilma Santos) takes her stroke-stricken father (Robert Arevalo) to see a faith healer. The next day, he miraculously recovers from his ailment. Amazed by the recovery, Seth’s neighbors all implore her to take them to the healer. Her son from an annulled marriage Jed (Martin del Rosario) also asks her to help him take his stepsister Cookie (Kim Chiu) to be healed. When they arrive, the healer refuses to see them due to her own sickness. But they all insist, and the healer eventually relents. Everybody soon recovers from his or her afflictions, but it turns out that the healing comes at a price. Seth’s entire community is thrown into chaos, and she has to figure out what went wrong.

The movie suffers from a very common horror movie complaint. The characters are entirely too passive about serious problems. The characters figure out the connection between violent events and the healing quickly enough, but it takes them forever to do anything about it. Movies tend to need characters to be active, trying to solve their problems with whatever resources are available to them. Having said that, the movie does a great job of surrounding the central conflict with interesting little details. There’s a funny, subversive edge to the way the community is written, and a genuinely crushing dilemma complicating the eventual solution.

The film isn’t afraid to get a little goofy, offsetting the violence and darkness with tinges of humor. What could’ve been generic horror movie stuff is enlivened by a slight satirical bent that takes to task the very concept of healing. And the film thrives on its relationships, building real stakes out of few well-placed lines of dialogue. The production looks quite accomplished, and the film makes room for quite a few stylistic touches. Most noticeably, the film marks its movements by having the characters dress in the same color. It’s not entirely clear what the point of it is, but it does make the film more visually interesting.

Vilma Santos is really quite exceptional in her more mature roles. Despite being who she is, she still somehow manages to disappear into the role, latching on to little bits of character that tear away the veneer of glamour and celebrity. She is an everywoman in this role, struggling to understand a dilemma that’s far beyond her capacity. A strong ensemble cast backs her up. Robert Arevalo plays her father with an endearing lack of vanity. Allen Paule shines while playing the constant skeptic. Janice de Belen proves yet again to be one of the finest players in the industry today. The cast as a whole is able to make the more clever bits of script really work, and that’s a fine achievement.

The Healing could be a little tighter. The characters spend too much time not doing anything about their predicament, which makes it feel like they’re just courting danger. But if one can overlook that little wrinkle, the movie is just a whole lot of fun. It has an inspired sense of self, a personality beyond what we’ve come to expect in every horror feature. I would note that people ought to seek out the R18 version of the picture, which is the more complete vision of the film. A film that strives to be so unique ought to be given that consideration.

TUMATABO sa takilya ang horror-suspense film na The Healing, na graded A ng CEB (Cinema Evaluation Board).

Laksa-laksang moviegoers ang sumugod at pumila sa mga sinehan sa unang araw ng showing nito.

Sa patuloy na pagdagsa ng moviegoers, ilang malls ang magdadagdag ng cinemas ngayong weekend upang matiyak na maa-accommodate ang dami ng nais manood.

Ang The Healing ay panimula ng selebrasyon ng ika-50 anibersaryo ni Vilma Santos sa showbiz.

Luis isinugod sa hospital: Ate Vi nag-panic!

HINDI nakadalo si Governor Vilma Santos sa block screening ng The Healing sa Trinoma Cinema 2 last July 26 dahil isinugod nito sa hospital ang panganay na anak na si Luis Manzano sanhi nang pabalik-balik na pagtaas ng lagnat. Tanging si Kim Chiu lang ang nagpunta sa screening na sponsored ng Vilmanians at Kim Chiu Global.

Habang isinusulat namin ito ay sasailalim si Luis sa CT scan para malaman ang dahilan ng napakataas na lagnat nito na umaabot ng 40 degrees.

Samantala, humamig ng P12 million ang kita ng The Healing sa first day showing nito, at patuloy pa itong nakikipagtalbugan sa pahabaan nang pila sa katapat nitong Hollywood film na Dark Night.

Sa huling report na natanggap namin, mas domoble ang nanonood ngayon sa suspense-thriller movie na ‘to ni Gov. Vi dahil naging word-of-mouth ito at nag-trending topic pa sa internet dahil sa ganda at galing ng mga artista sa pinaka-latest project na ‘to ng Star Cinema.

Do you know that Star for All Seasons and Batangas Governor Vilma Santos has actually appeared sa dalawang nakakatakot na pelikula, bagama’t ’di as frightening as The Healing?

Ito’y ayon sa isang avid Vilma fan, who claims to have watched all of her movies, including the very first one, Trudis Liit, when Ate Vi was just a child star.

The fan agreed na ito na nga yatang The Healing ang pinaka-ultimate sa horror films na kanyang napanood at balak panoorin muli na mas maraming kaibigan ang kasama.

Para raw marami silang sumisigaw at humihiyaw, tuwing may scary scenes na ipinakikita sa screen.

In any case, the fan named the two horror flicks na tinampukan ni Ate Vi: Takbo Vilma, Dali at Hatinggabi na Vilma.

“But I was younger at that time,” ani Ate Vi. “Itong The Healing, I must admit, pati ako na-horrify habang pinanonood ko.

“I would encourage everyone to watch it. Ipinagmamalaki ko ang pelikulang ito,” susog pa ni Ate Vi.

People behind Star Cinema, producer of The Healing, are one in saying that the reaction of the public overwhelm them.

Of course, anila, they expected the movie to be a box-office hit as it is Ate Vi’s first film in three years since her appearance with John Lloyd and son Luis Manzano in In My Life.

But as they all agree, The Healing is not only a hit. It is a super hit.

As Star Cinema managing director Malou Santos said, “Nag-iisa pa rin si Ate Vi sa kanyang kinaroroonan. Sana she continues to make more movies... of course, with Star Cinema.”
