Tagal ko na di navvisit tong thread. But anyways, i also want to say na i am positive. I have been too daring and adventuruous sa bed activities ko then one day November 2011, i had the courage to take the elisa test and that changed my life. During my first talk with my doctor Dec 2011, he said juz looking at u, u r in good shape so i think u dont need ARV yet but still i had my cd4 counted. Jan 2012, my cd4 was 196 despite na wala ako sakit except for frequent boils. So i started ARV and fortunately i immediately adopted to the meds. Sep 2012 i had another cd4 count and resulted to 249. Sabi ni doc u r responding well sa meds.

Right now, healthy living nako. I exercise every weekend. No more yosi and alcohol. Loads of fruits n vegies. In a way may magandang naidulot na madiscover ko na positive ako. I changed to become a better person. I am also positive with all the news and new discoveries, a cure will be out soon

Anyone wants to talk to me, just send me a message. Ang dami ko kc nababasang maling akala about hiv.

Hello there. :-) Actually, the only way to know a person's HIV status is through an HIV test. Ang mga symptoms kse ng HIV, especially if nasa early stage pa, is similar to the symptoms of any viral infection. So usually, the tendency for people is to ignore it. Like if may cough ako, then I treat it as it is. Simple cough lang which needs cough medicines para mawala. Hindi natin iisipin na HIV na pala yun. An HIV carrier can actually live a healthy life for many years not knowing na positive na pala ***. Kse ang HIV virus, matagal mag-manifest ang mga defining symptoms nya. Oftentimes, nasa almost late stage na bago magkasakit ang tao, at dun pa lang ma-discover na HIV positive na pala ***. So the key there is early detection through HIV testing.

Pasensya na po if I sound too preachy.

hello. i understand that you are feeling very paranoid right now. but as said before in this thread, HIV test lang talaga ang makakapagsabi if you are positive or not. ang signs and symptoms ng HIV infection ay non-specific. meaning, nakikita sila sa ibang conditions and sometimes they may appear as just your regular, irritating, minor health problems. so it won't help you to speculate on your status based on what you have been feeling these past months. the best course of action is to get tested, which i am glad you have already decided to take. so take care and hoping for the best results. okay na okay na mapgpatest, since lampas ka na sa window period. take care!

I wish nalaman ko to agad before today. Pumunta ako kanina sa RITM around 9am kasi alam ko hanggang 10 naman for CD4.. only to find out na 7-8am na pala.. Also, nalaman ko na sa Makati SHC pala ako nakabase talaga kasi dun ako nagpatest.. so papamove na lang ako sa RITM. Peoply at RITM are really nice.. may mga co-clients din ako na nakausap when I decided to stay for a while.. next week na siguro ako balik for CD4 and baseline tests.

    Ritm

Hi Guys! i'm reposting this blog entry from http://pozziepinoy.blogspot.com/

Confusion on CD4 Testing in RITM-ARG

I've been hearing this for quite sometime now. PLHIV's are confused if there really is FREE CD4 Testing in RITM-ARG in Alabang. There are claims that are circulating that:

    1. CD4 test is not free for new patients
    2. Succeeding CD4 tests will be charged to returning patients
    3. A few patients said that they were charged for CD4 before.

Because of this, I called Dr. Ditangco, the head of RITM-ARG and she said that ALL patients, both new and returning, are given FREE CD4 testing and lab tests (except lab tests for specific OI's and viral load test) in RITM-ARG. She said that they have maximized their PhilHealth funds and they have free CD4 test reagents so they have the capacity to give FREE CD4 tests. She told me that the patients who are charged for CD4 testing and not given FREE CD4 are only those who are:

    1. NOT patients of RITM-ARG
    2. NOT patients of RITM- Satellite Clinic
    3. NOT patients of RITM-ARG-supervised social hygiene clinics.
    4. Patients who don't pass through RITM-ARG and who go directly to the laboratory of the RITM main hospital without any referral from RITM-ARG.

I also called Ate Beth of RITM-ARG and she said that they started giving FREE CD4 test last June 2012. This means that those who got their CD4 earlier than June 2012, really paid for their CD4 test.

So to be clear, to avail of the FREE CD4 Test in RITM-ARG:

    1. You need to be a patient (both new and returning) of
    a. RITM-ARG in Alabang
    b. RITM-Satellite Clinic in Malate, Manila
    c. any RITM-ARG-Supervised social hygiene clinics

    2. Do not go directly to the laboratory of RITM Main Hospital as you will be considered not a patient of RITM-ARG since you don't have a referral from RITM-ARG.

oh my laking dilemma yan... cant imagine myself in your situation =( hope you're doing well...

    Ask ko lang po

I got tested kasi last week.
Two months since my last unprotected sex.
    I tested Negative.

Dapat diba three months yung hintayin ko pero grabe na anxiety ko,
so I opted to get checked na.

I know this is not conclusive.
I asked the attendant sa RITM kung pede ako magpatest next month,
sabi niya is pwede naman kaso mas okay daw kung February na,
yung test kit din daw kasi it might be used for others,
since mataas ang possibility na ganun din ang result since magkalapit lang yung time frame ng test ko.

    Is this true?
Inaatake na naman ako ng anxiety and pagiging paranoid ko.
Feeling ko may lumps kasi ako sa above adams apple pero its little lang naman ngayon ko lang naramdaman.

What do you guys advice? Help

  13. #3873
hi guys.. i posted a few months ago.. i've lost track of time.. i'm being paranoid na naman.. my exposure happened last march 2,2012.. it was protected sex (vaginal)... i took my first test 3 days short of the 3 month period.. in which it was non-reactive the people at the hygiene clinic said na ok na daw un wag na daw ako bumalik and i can rest easy.. but then i became paranoid so nagpatest na naman ako on the 5th month.. Non-reactive ulit *** result.naguluhan nga ako nun eh sabi ng kumukuha ng dugo ko hindi daw enough yung time na nagpatest ako, pero sabi naman ng counsellor more than enough yung 5 months, kaya lang daw nasabi ng med tech na kumukuha ng dugo ko na kulang pa yung araw is maybe hindi niya alam yung last exposure ko which is march 2, after that incident i never indulged in dangerous or risky exposures ever since.. paranoid lang ako kasi tinutubuan ako ng maliliit na spots sa balat ko, sabi ng friends ko bungang araw lang naman. does it have anything to do with HIV? do i still need to have another test or hindi na?

  14. #3874

I had to login and reply to your post immediately after I read it.

HIV can only infect people via direct access to blood which can either be via blood to blood contact or sexual bodily fluid (semen and vaginal/anal fluids). Don't worry about soap, nailcutter or even spoon/fork.... not even salivary fluid during kissing! HIV is actually very hard to transfer since it dies so quickly when exposed to air.

Do not worry about those stuff that you mentioned.

  16. #3876
Thank u..but un po n 5weeks after ko last nkipag do nag patest ako non reactive..pinababalik ako next year january...

"Anxiety is what characterizes us as humans" (citation: Ateo, hehehehe).

Kung negative ka sa 7-month test, better sana ang 8 months, o 9 months o 10 months, etc. etc. You continually ask that question and back-read the thread. But the correct solution is you need to manage your anxiety because that would be a serious disease if not controlled well. Relax and do other things that you like doing.

Let me explain the HIV test. As most people know, it is not a test of the virus. The virus is hiding so it is difficult to test for it. But its presence in the body leaves a trail that can be easily tested -- the presence of antibodies. You see, when the virus entered the body our immune system reacts by forming the antibodies specific to fight the HIV. The antibodies are what is being searched in the HIV test. But it takes time for the body to generate enough antibodies to appear positive in the test. A huge majority of infected individuals develop antibodies by the 6th WEEK. But doctors want to be sure, so instead of testing at 6th week, testing is done in 12th week (3 months). For those who want be doubly, triply sure, testing can be done later (yours was on the 7th month). If you are negative at the 7th month, that is NEGATIVE already.

But that won't make you satisfied, will it? You still want to know if there is the possibility of delayed seroconversion. That is the biggest question among the worried. And the scary answer is YES. In theory, if the immune system is weak (cancer treatment) or busy (with other infections) then it would take time to produce the antibodies for HIV. The theory is fine, but the actual evidence is weak. If you scour the literature, you will find a case here or there, mostly poorly documented cases. The reality is that delayed seroconversion is extremely rare if it happens at all.

Does that reassure you now? I fear it does not.
