I've been suffering from SD for years now. It comes and goes and yes, there is no cure but there are medicines for maintenance.

I spend Php6k a month for derma consultation and medicines to temper down my flares in the scalp, ears and cheeks.

Been to a recommended dermatologist (Makati Med) just this week and she gave me new meds to blindly follow. For a week, she prescribed me to take Funzela (Flucanozole) and Claricort in the morning, Iterax at night. I also apply Triamcinolone solution for my scalp and Fucicort (Betamethasone, Fucidic acid) for my ears; I do this twice a day. She also told me to get enough exercise and sleep, to increase water intake and avoid stress (how? ).

I'm can actually see and feel the results! I hope it goes well.

I will be seeing her two weeks from now so she can check on my progess.

Who is your derma in Makati Med?

Due to this, most of the time I can't wear makeup. What brands can you recommend that will not make my face itchy, and that can hide the flaky-ness of the skin?

guys please help, i had this problem with my face, at first seeing this its was just a red rushes on my face then it will become itchy,. after a day or two white (balukubak like) emerge on my face.. i put a cream an antifungal cream for several days and it disappeared after a weak it show show up again,. is this a psoriasis? please help thanks

last summer, na diagnos ako having a seborheic dermatits.
i was given medication, soap and sariling sabon.

but i found it very expensive.

may home remedy ba?

hi, i have sb also. so long ago pa, siguro 10 years na. pero naconfirm ko *** last year kasi pinabiopsy ko twice, sa back and face. just to make sure kasi baka psoriasis mahirap na. for 10 years, my dermas have been advising me to put on steroids... it work for a time. pero habang tumatagal, napansin ko bumabalik din siya at mas malala pag bumabalik. i noticed also ang bilis magblush at mairritate ng mukha, naisip ko result siguro ito ng kakalagay ng steroid. tapos naresearch ko nga yung elidel, I asked my derma about it and sabi nya I can try. yes, its expensive pero sige pikit mata ko siyang binili. effective naman, nawala yung pamamaga. so since ginamit ko yung elidel, hindi na ulit ako gumamit ng steroid. and it got better. siguro 2 months lang ako gumamit ng elidel with 2 weeks interval. after nun, bioderm cream or katialis na lang nilalagay ko or simply moisturizer from my derma (wag yung kung ano ano, siguro ask your derma or baka pwede na yung cetaphil). i'm so happy, considering na my sb is not mild, i think it's really severe.. yun din ang sabi ng derma ko. first time daw nya naka-encounter ng tulad ko. basta payo ko lang, AVOID USING STEROID.. as in kahit yung pinakamababang potency pa yan. esp sa face. kasi it will aggravate your condition. sa ngayon, i still have it pero controllable na by using moisturizer lang and katialis. pero i still do my routine, i shampoo and polytar twice a week (i use it as soap din), sometimes i alternate it with nizoral or ciclopirox olamine. basta lagi. and i try to change also my sleeping habits, kasi sobrang malaki effect nya sa sb ko. plus stress! avoid it as much as possible. there you have it, goodluck!

Ito raw yung dandruff sa ibang bahagi ng bala tulad ng sa mukha. Nakakainis kasi may times na it is scaling tipong parang you've undergone some kind of peeling procedure.

Dati ang gamit ko na gamot is hydrocortisone cream. Pero hindi raw advisable na gamitin yun ng pang matagalan. Nakakanipis daw yun ng balat. Kaya naghanap ako ng ibang gamot. Nasubukan ko yung nizoral cream (ketoconazole). Effective naman. But lately, parang naging immune na rin yata yung balat ko.

Nakakainis kasi sa mukha talaga yung problem areas ko. Minsan makati pa siya. Ngayon sinusubukan kong gumamit ng Daktarin (Miconazole) cream. Ang naging effect naman eh yun nga dumami yung scaling na part. I have been using it for 4 days. Safe to say na ba na hindi effective yung gamot?

Share naman kayo ng remedies ninyo for seb derm? Ang masaklap lang chronic itong skin condition na ito kaya wala talagang cure for it.

I also have this. I went to 3 Dermatologists and yes, there's no cure for it. One Derma even told me that she also has seb derm and what you can only do is to control it.

I was told that you should use various creams/ointments at intervals so that your skin would not be immune to a certain medication.

Here's my tips for your:

1. First, avoid stress as much as possible.
2. ALWAYS, I mean always wash your face before you sleep with a mild soap.
3. I use Daktakort every break up. When its gone, I use Daktarin 6 days a week, then daktakort 1 day/week.
4. I change anti dandruff shampoo brand every month. Every time I take a bath, I also lather my face with the shampoo, let it absorb for at least3 mins than rinse.

Ako, my last dermatologist was Dra Nenita Alberto. The best thing about her is that she charges cheap! The meds, consulation fees and I think even the procedures she offers.

Ang worry ko lang sa Daktacort is may steroid component siya. Actually dati Hydrocortisone ang gamit ko. Pero ayun nga I don't want to use it anymore because it's sort of a mild steroid na nakakanipis ng balat.

Yung ketoconazole cream it worked fine to me pero may certain areas na hindi na siya effective, in particular around my neck kaya kadire talaga

I am thinking of trying out BELO kaso baka wala rin naman silang magawa and they'll prescribe the same old meds din.

What about laser procedures kaya? Will it help?

I am also thinking of consulting with Dra Jacinto kasi she's near the place I stay during weekdays.

I have a seb derm din kase... si dra eileen cubillan ng medical center manila derma ko... try mo siya... magaling siya eh... nasearch ko pa nga sa internet na sya pala ang chair ng nagbibigay ng diplomate exam sa PDS...

Same problem here. Calmoseptine cream gamit ko. Tumigil hapdi sa affected skin ko. Bumalik uli mga buhok sa kilay ko when applying this cream. Almost 6 month ko na gamit. di ko sinunod yun derm ko na 1 week lang. Comfortable kasi ako dito. Pero mag switch na ko uli sa iba para di ako ma-immune. Sana di pa huli ang lahat.

Avoid eating chocolate pala sabi nun 1 derma nakausap ko. Siguro dahil bacteria ang kumakain sa balat natin. Hwag din kutkutin o masugatan mukha gaya ng removing ng blackead. Yun butas na mark ng blackhead pag umpisan at paglaki ng butas sa mukha. Iyan nangyari sa akin.

Celeteque Facial Wash gamit ko. Pero 2 drop at few seconds lang kailangan banlawan kaagad advice sa akin. Ano gamit nyo facial wash?

Same sufferer here. I was saddened by the fact na it is already a chronic disease. Yes, only its symptoms can be treated. not the cause for it is unknown. It is the yeast called Malasezzia furfur is found in oil-rich areas like hairline, forehead, cheeks, nose, and behind the ears.

First medication ko as prescribed by my derma from Makati Med - Travocort, Bioteez-S Shampoo, and Allerta. For 2 weeks. Pagka-stop ko, bumalik siya.

Second medication - Cutivate (more potent steroid than Travocort), Seba Med. I saw improvements on 2nd day of treatment. If magkaflare up pa rin, for sure there will be, apply na lang daw ako ng mixed Cutivate and Nizoral cream too since it has anti-yeast properties.

I dont wanna be dependent on Steroid too much. Di daw makakatulong since the yeast will just be more resistant to it. Tataasan lang ng steroid potency if bumalik.

For continuous maintenance - Head and Shoulders and Nizoral cream.

TIll now nagkaka-small flare up ako. So pahid na lang ako ng Nizoral Cream at nawawala agad. So far so good. Nakaka-paranoid pa rin na bumabalik siya since super lamig dito sa office. I got so used to having flawless face. Di ako tagyawatin. Oily lang talaga. Natitrigger Seb. Derm. ko pag may sudden change ng temperature. Medyo nasa acceptance stage pa ako.

Glad to hear na I am not alone battling this disease since this case is very common daw.

Nagkaganyan din ako dati last year, mga April nagsimula. Sa ngayon wala na pero ang oily pa din ng mukha ko. Nagsimula ito sa may gilid ng nose ko tapos kumalat sa mukha ko pero tumigil din naman pagkatapos ng summer. Grabe ang kati nun at nagtutubig pa nga. Nakakawala ng self-confidence at nakakalungkot dati nung nagkaroon ako nun. Buti nga nawala, e. Alam niyo ba ang ginawa ko kung paano nawala iyon? Naghilamos lang ako twice a day at hindi ganoon katagal.

It has been 1 year since nadiagnosed ako with seb derm. My life has changed ever since. I tried using ketoconazole cream,hydrocortisone cream and anti-dandruff shampoo pero di pa din sya nawawala. Sana magkaroon na ng cure dito. I'm so fed up with it.

She charges P650 for consultation. She practiced Dermatology at Harvard School of Medicine. Mabait siya and she explains a lot.

You can also try Dra. Carmela Anna Lim kaso medyo natatarayan ako sa kaniya kasi di ba bumalik ang Seb Derm ko after consulting Dra. Carpo. Dra. Lim just prescribed a higher potent Steroid cream (Cutivate) for 7 days. Tapos daw bumalik ako kay Dra. Carpo. Oo nga naman. Nag-bypass kasi ako sa original doctor ko due to panic.

Sadly, ni-reiterate ni Dra. Carpo sa akin after kong mag-Cutivate, chronic na siya at babalik at babalik din siya.

Right now, I see some flaking sa cheeks and eye brows ko. Di naman bothersome kasi hindi makati. Moisturizer can just conceal them for time being.

@babyshane, pareho pala tayo... minsan nag moisturizer na rin ako para lang maitago yung pag flakes sa cheeks... kaso hindi kaya mas lalaong masama yung moisturizer satin gawa pag seb derm nga eh excess oil din yun sa body natin? ang dami ko na rin na try na derma eh... gusto ko humanap na pwede akong humiyang... hehehe...
