But speaking of Finals series I have seen, besides that who could forget the Sunkist - Alaska All Filipino Finals in 1995. Alaska who was led by Abbarientos, Hawkins, Lastimosa , Cariaso (a rookie that time), Chris Bolado , Merwin Castelo , Roel Gomez. Ang lakas talaga nila. Sunkist was led by Vergel Menesses, Boybits Victoria,...I forgot the others..hehehe. From start to end of that series, you really won't know who would win. If it was not for Menesses' running 3 pointer late in Game 7, Sunkist wouldn't have won.

Ako, sa ULTRA opening ng 1988 season, baguhan ang Purefoods, sa Astrodome naman in 1993, first game, Swift vs Seven-Up, na upset ang Swift si Ronnie Thompkins import, main game, panalo Purefoods laban sa Shell.

the heydays of the demolition man, danny ildefonso, 2000, i think grade 4 ako, kalakasan niya talaga noon at everytime nakakdunk eh raise the roof.

three-conference format pa ata noon eh.

nanuod kami ng live nung smb-bgk sa finals noong afc ng 2000 ata o 2001? games 1,2 then 5 and 6, pruo smb panalo.

AFC Finals 2001 Game 5, SMB-BGK, shoot-out ni Dynamite Danny at Mark the Spark, ewan ko kung may napanuod pa ko na mas una pero eto talaga ang naalala ko, may karton na hand pa ko ng SMB nun

AFC 2001 Finals series. SMB VS BGK. Grade school pa ko nun. Pinakamemorable yung first game kasi first row behind SMB bench yung seats namin so may TV exposure rin.

my first ever live PBA game watched was in 1993 All-Filipino game Elimination doubleheader at Cuneta Astrodome between Alaska vs 7 UP & Ginebra vs Swift... Both teams scored 99 points as their winning points..

1993 ata yung year na natatandaan ko championship SMB vs Purefoods...yung si dindo pumaren pa nagpanalo...... yung yearkila david thirdkill hindi na...


pero yung unforgetable moment na manood ng Live eh yung Double overtime ng Gordons GIN(CHris King) vs San Miguel Beer (Jeff Ward)... yung naubos ang players ng san miguel.. yung si jeff ward at mike mustre pinulikat... nanalangin pa ako na "sana masulit yung tiket dahil one game lang to!" ayun nasulit nga!

Been watching the PBA games live since the early 80's.

Our family was fortunate enough to have a close friend who was an ex-governor for one of the former PBA teams ..... we always had 4-complimentary tickets for the games.

Some of the hilites I can recall:


* Was present during the PBA debut of Billy Ray Bates (Crispa). Everyone was in awe at the way Bates scored & soared. We still have the triangular flags with the CRISPA logo given away during that game.

* Was present during the PBA debut of PUREFOODS.

* Was present during the many Finals of PUREFOODS, including the hard-earned 1st championship.

There was one championship (IIRC this was the 1st), wherein then Team Manager Ding Panganiban was smiling during the celebration, when someone from the bleacher section threw a plastic cup filled with ice ..... it hit Panganiban directly in the face.

All Panganiban could do after that was smile & give a thumbs up to the bleacher area.

1987 Reinforced Conference finals between SMB and Hills Bros. San Miguel won the game and the title 96-86.
