Well, for me; it relies more on your music genre preference than your "limited skill". kung gusto mo ng mga folk, rock, funky, metal, country, blues and pop musics, go for steel strings since mas "bright, crisp and twangy" yung tunog nya.

nylons on the other hand, are best for (but not limited to), well, classical musics because of it's "bass-y, semi-muted and soulful tone".

I-compare pa natin further para makapag-decide ka ng mabuti:

Yung mga steel-string guitars ok sa kaskasan (strumming), mas maliit ang finger board, you can reach up to 15+ frets, easy transition to electric guitars at...... mura ang strings really good for "general purpose" playing.

on nylon-strings naman, kung gusto mong mag-aral ng fundamentals ng guitar (finger position, proper posture while playing, etc) yan ang ire-recommend sa iyo. mas makapal ang fretboard nya, so you have to stretch your fingers further, ok sya for plucking at mas magdedevelop yung mga kalyo mo kasi makapal yung strings. kung magaaral ka ng classical style of playing... it even requires certain length of fingernails sa kanang kamay mo
just to add, nylon strings are easier to grip and are more low-maintainance than steel strings. And as Master Satsui mentioned above, both guitars have their purpose in cetain genres

thanks boss ermonski! musta na? me bago kang video ngayon?

    thanks!
You are welcome! Glad to hear that it helped you to decide what guitar to get. since you wanna get a steel-stringed guitar:

    - kung sakaling alukin ka ng salesman sa shop na kumuha ng gitara na may built-in pick-up (the one that can be plugged to an amplifier, making your guitar "acoustic-electric"), I strongly suggest na wag mong kunin yun. It might look and sound cool na parang me instant electric guitar ka na din for a small amount of money , you can't really trust the quality of the pick up installed. and if you decide to remove the thing (maybe because it's broken or gusto mo lang tanggalin), it might leave permanent damage to your guitar. the only exemption for that is kung yun talaga ang design ng gitara, at kung branded yun (since they really care about their reputation to the customers) like from yamaha, fender, gibson, etc
    - if ever na kailangan mo talaga ng pick-up, yung removable na lang.

It happens to me dati when I bough my guitar, uso pa nun yung turtle-back (may-hump ng konti yung likod and it's made up of plastic or carbon-fiber or fiber glass)and it comes with a pick up. ako naman, nauto ng lintek na salesman, napabili tuloy ako. pumasa naman sa testing while I'm still at the shop. the thing is, nag-deteriorate yung pickup at naka-screw sya sa sound hole ng gitara... nung tinanggal ko yung buset na pick up na yun, it leaves nasty holes, nicks and scratches to the surface.. then later on, its a chain reaction.. the holes produced more cracks, thus, ruining my turtle back...

Salamat Sir Satsui! Papalitan ko na kasi yung RP 250 ko for this one. Sa tingin ko kasi panahon na. Hehehe!

ah, yun yung design ng body ng gitara na similar sa electric guitars para ma-access ng maayos yung 13 to 20+ frets.

san na yung video mo? i wanna see it

ako nga din eh olats sa music theory bat kasi di ko sineryoso yung music subjects noong nasa grade school pa ako

masasabi kong natuto akong mag-gitara "in a wrong and no particular order" nag-start lang din ako sa chords, then tuning, then learned how to read tabs.

pagdating ko ng college, me kaklase akong metal-head (di lang halata), and he introduced me to the world of glam-rock, metal and scales. una ko pang natutunan is minor pentatonic.... which is again, totally wrong kasi dapat pala nag-start muna ako sa major scale.

Ngayon, sinusubukan kong mag start from scratch... and I'm telling you guys, it really bores me to death! Mas ok siguro kung me ka-tandem akong mag aral.
