Pinoys Growing Up and Living Overseas

Hi all,

I just wanted to start a friendly topic for those of us who grew up or have lived away from the Philippines for a significant amount of time. I am now 24 years old and, because of my parents' jobs, have lived in the Philippines, one other country in Asia, two countries in North/Central America, and have spent a significant amount of time with family in Europe. It was definitely a challenge adjusting to many different cultures and it was hard to constantly say goodbye to people, either as I left or as I saw my friends leave. It was also hard to return to the Philippines and not feel like I completely fit in. However, growing up and living overseas has expanded my outlook and given me friends from all over the world for life, and I would not trade it for anything.

Since Pinoys are a very global nation, I just wanted to hear about others' experiences growing up or living abroad. Where have you been?

Only the United States. I came here when I was 21, and have lived here for 11 years.
