  2. #2
    Oh ok lang po yan.
It's true that normal lang sa Mapua yung may bagsak.

I've experienced applying for jobs and so far, walang nag-check ng TOR ko. It's your personality and skills that would bring you to the job. Siguro knowing na MAPUA grad ka, they would no longer take your TOR as a primary ticket to get in.

    Don't lose hope. Just strive.

Basta keep on studying pa rin.

You have a point xybert, but in engineering sobrang konti lang yung walang bagsak at hindi kasi theoretical ang field natin; more on application.

I'm not saying na hindi importante yung grades but its your skills that would make you IN. Kasi pag iniinterview ka na, it's how well you market yourself that would make you acceptable. Oo maganda nga ang laman ng transcript (puro UNO), but you don't get to have the skills they want as well as the personality you have - THEREFORE, it's useless.

There are companies that look at where the applicant studied. Kaya yung iba may PREFERRED school. It's not because of the institution being FAMOUS... It's because of it's TRAINING. But then again, it's just a (+) point if you came from a REPUTABLE UNIVERSITY, like Mapua, or not.

By the way, Goodang, anong course mo? Anong subject ka nagka-problema?

    Feel free to ask anything.

    Just to add...

Compensate your grade liabilities to your BOARD EXAM RATING.

    It will redeem your TOR.
    No joke... it's true!

saka dre sa paghahanap ng trabaho me times na "it's not only what you know,it's who you know"

saka me times na "it's not only what you know,it's who you are as an individual"

sa trabaho importante attitude saka character

i agree with tophe, xybert, karona.

siyanga pala threadstarter, wala mga bagsak ang mga yan panu scholars yata eh. he he he.

my t.o.r. is tainted because of some bagsaks too. it was just impossible for us then to avoid the hail of deadly singkos. instructors during the classical mapua times were heartless and unforgiving.

but there is always that chance for you to 'redeem' yourself from your academic mess: the board exams.

just keep on studying and learn all you what you have to learn by heart. once you fully understand [you know that 'ahh.. gotcha..' thing] most if not all you have studied in school this would definitely help you gain some confidence in confronting different challenges as i did when i just starting as an engineer.

if you have a pale t.o.r. coupled with a very low board rating or worse, a failed board rating, this is not a good sign. letting others believe that you will make a competent engineer is an uphill battle if not impossible.

but dont worry because generally speaking, with bagsaks or no bagsaks, you still have that don tomas' blood in you. how you will sell yourself is another matter though.

once you leave the institute and have that 'final' look at the main gate you'd feel as if you were given a very powerful weapon. a weapon which when properly used will help bring success to whatever engineering career you're edging to.

mapua was once regarded as the ferrari when it comes to engineering education.

let's hope your batch will make a difference. lagi na lang kuwarenta-sinkuwenta ang mapua sa board eh. no offense meant to the new management. i mean, do i need to?

it's a long way to go. but just hang on and you'll make it as well.

once a mapuan always a mapuan.

integral and differential lang inabot namin. hindi pa hinati-hati..

    back to the topic...

syempre, mahalaga talaga ang grades. pero in the end, it still depends on the interview itself. dun kasi makikita ng employer kung ano ang attitude mo pagdating sa work.

pati nadiyan na eh, panindigan mo na. yun na yung sign na you should push yourself harder. wala naman kasi mangyayari kung palagi mo na lang iisipan that you're a big failure. inspire mo na lang sarili mo for you to succeed..

basta, be confident and you can conquer anything...

  15. #15
makulitz, single variable calculus lang tayo noon di ba? Hehehe...

Anyway, Goodang, this may not apply for you for now, but then try to browse the pages of this thread. This might help in the future:

    Happy vacation week pala sayo.

It depends on the company that you applied into. Some companies check your transcript some are not. Strive hard to get a job and dont lose hope. Magdasal ka lang.

well skills is isa talaga sa factor. Yung applicant na may magandang grades at credentials sila malamang agad yung tatawagan for first interview (HR).

  18. #18

wala lang, having a good TOR and PRC license can open possibilities abroad, the Mapuans na officemates ko dito sa SIngapore are freshgrads like me (actually M.E. batch 2002 kami lahat) first job namin dito and our salary is not that bad either ,actually mataas talaga kumpara sa fresh grad wages sa pinas..,most of us got the job because of no failing mark, the company we are working for also considered Mapua as the best in Engineering in the Philippines... hehehe 10 na Mapuans 2 na UST 3 na UP na freshgrad dito..hinde ba halata preferred talaga ang Mapua?

So aral ka ng mabuti tol,,,
