each campus in the up system has its own strengths and specialties. comparing lb to diliman is as one here already said, like comparing apples to oranges. the same can be said for manila, miag-ao and all the other campuses. each has its strength which when summed together make up the breadth of the up system. one university, one system, different locations, different specializations. i'd say its like one big school building with different wings. you dont compare your chemistry laboratory to your administration office and ask which is better right?

Social life, Independence (he he he dormers karamihan eh), gimiks, samahan, you get along with people from different provinces, professors (always come to classes on time, never had absences at I remember hindi ata na suspend ang classes for 1 single day sa entire college life ko). I think these things favor UPLB.

Student selection and facilities it will be UPD.

Opinion ko lang to since I came from UPLB. Pero these 2 campuses are great!!!

having experienced studying in these two schools, my comparison is:

in terms of samahan, cheap yet great hangouts during the night, really affordable parties, nice place to study (nope, not the main lib) its as if like you know everyone, once you walk into the Humanities building, stduent rate na pamasahe, walang tulugan na dorms, no curfews, puwede ka dumaan sa likod, inuman to the max, great romantic endeavors, meeting people in all walks of life and getting to befriend them, i think UPLB is the great thing! hell nga lang ang rotc **** dun. Its much easier to stdy coz you feel independent yet youre not pressured coz you are free from your parents. You will get to fall in love coz there are a lot of cute girls, esp. during my time, the bio girl daw na tga mens dorm. and my ex-gf is one of the great attractions in the humanities building before. And the fud is great, no wonder i lost my langky framed body. But its really hassle going home weekends. I have to agree that the subjects with respect to the humanities and social sciences are easier. economics too. no offense meant, but i would really like to study in LB coz of no pressures and you'll feel being a real person coz every street someone may greet you.

Now, for Diliman, it would really be a culture shock coz walang pansinan ang most of pipol in diliman. The sad thing is i ddnt get to know everyone's names in my classes.. rotc,is much easier in diliman. but the studying factor is hell, thank God I survived. Mas marami tlaga maarte sa diliman, but the good thing is there are a lot of restaurants. you get back to having the life having to eat at katips and libis ith frends but napakamahal nga lang minsan, lapit lang ang SM north, you get to go to glorietta and GB. In terms of study, it is really hard to stdy in diliman. but if you are looking for pipol who will talk of subjects everything under the sun, it is diliman. It is much easier to join the orgs, mas maganda ang mga tambayan, etc. I guess i have to agree that diliman has better facilities.

but all the more, we should not be comparing them, you have think tht we are all part of the UP system, that reaches from baguio up to mindanao.

stdying is best at the UPD School of Economics Library, during my time, i always sleep at the back, yung pang isahan na study table. lakas pa ng aircon, i gues id study there from around 830-12. totally the best place, its also open on saturdays. second wud be the law lib. bukas hanggang linggo.

I've been in both. UPLB is provincial and really campus lifestyle - most students are on their own and could do things beyond the freedom afforded in Diliman. However, many students are from all over the country and from all walks of life - mostly young and many naive. Walking to class and taking a nap in between subjects, enjoying the greenery and quiet atmosphere pollution free....

Socially, Diliman has the most city people enrolling and is many times larger than UPLB. Growing up in a city atmosphere has its quirks, like traffic, pollution, poor public TOILETS!, higher cost of living, etc.

However, it is really up to the person who and what he is to become afterwards. Keeping busy with studies is what is common to both so the extra cullicular activities are not that important because you would not want to waste more than 15% of your time doing that.

UPLB! hehe.... it's been proven that math and science courses are better in LB

Sabi ng prof ko, kung bibili ka ng UP t-shirt, hindi mahalaga na maliit ang logo ng UP doon. Kasi, basta UP, impressive na eh. Ang mahalaga raw, at mas nakaka-WOW sa mga tao, ang word na Diliman. Obvious ba ang bias na?

I really can't say which is better, Diliman or LB. Once pa lang ako nakakapuntang LB...

  14. #34
they say that Diliman is known for the thrust in social sciences while LB is in the sciences esp. computer sciences, no. 1 ! para sa akin kahit ***, basta UP!

hahaha and what makes you think that? can u substantiate it? ud think that since UPD is in the metro and UPLB is in the mountains, it makes the former better? hmmm just some thoughts

  18. #38
    Diliman siyempre. Diliman and others...

  19. #39
    ^^^

Yea if ur from UPD they say diliman and others. Another reason is that u need higher UPCAT ave. to enter diliman ( a have lots of HS classmates whose first choice was diliman but eventually they "ended up" in LB or Baguio. And UPD is the flagship campus (talking about popularity).

Pero yun nga we are all getting quality UP education kahit anong campus ka pa. I remember whatever textbooks we use in diliman , they also use it in LB one is reading into writing by the late Prof Dadufalza and Leithold TCWAG hehe. UP FIGHT!!!!

    a divisive thread. tsk tsk.

    basta lahat ng UP magaling.
