... i learned some japanese phrases
... i was inspired to develop my skills in drawing
...nainspire ako gumawa ng mga imaginary anime stories --- don't have time to really write and draw some comics/manga
nabago buhay ko dahil hindi na ako gaano kabugnutin dahil natuto akong mag-enjoy habang nanunuod ng anime

A certain manga was one of the things that saved me from the darkest part of my life. I'm happier now, and a bit more optimistic. For that, it will always have a special place in my heart and I will remain grateful to the author for creating, and continuing to write and illustrate, such a wonderful and touching story. And yeah, I hate mushy stuff so I'll stop now.

im currently studying Niponggo, i wanna go to Japan TO MEET TAKESHI KONOMI (PoT's maker), and i had my hair cut like an anime (they call it Jap-cut or Japanese cut, like the hair of Sakuno Ryuzaki of PoT and others). I'll think of more.

At first, I didn't know that few cartoons were from Japan like Voltes V, Speed Racer and Daimos. I was skeptic watching some of it because of weak plot and low character development and not to mention that I'm getting older watching so-called kid's show. I even waited for DBZ episodes to come out when I was in HS back at 90's but RPN 9 acquired only a handful of them. My classmates were telling stories about Goku and they've seen some of it by getting VHS copies from Hong Kong and Binondo. The problem is that they're raw and no eng subs. I got hooked by the way they told and as I was gettng older I quitted waiting for new DBZ eps.

That changed when TV series like Yu Yu Hakusho got the plot bigger and bigger time to time on IBC 13 and for the first time that kind of violence and fluidity of fighting scenes were allowed to be seen on national TV. Then a lot came up on ABS-CBN. When Studio 23 acquired Samurai X that started my curiosity of finding good animes because I found out about the time duration they put on ch 2 so I researched samurai x on the internet and found out the real title and more meaning to the plot.

The way anime changed my life is something I didn't expect because I can find multi-genre entertainment all in one package in one series. Lessons like the core of life, values and virtues, and facing the problems of real world are all there. Conveying the emotions and personality of each characters like showing their back stories and what are they aiming for from both protagonists and antagonists made me think that not everything is purely black and white. I can even feel sympathy to the villains as well. Other new subjects that I wasn't interested on like cooking, car racing and fishing were brought up to make it more interesting.

I even convinced my Dad to watch with me. He liked Slam Dunk and Flame of Recca and bridged his relationship to his students. He was a college instructor and applied some of his Social Science subjects from watching anime.

Now with bootlegs and free video streaming (yes I admit I support piracy because of short durations of time from phil. channels, huge edits that weakens the plot and censorship restrictions, also money is an issue) I enjoyed the full access so much I don't know which series will I watch next.So I research to see if it pass my taste.

I owe this unique culture to Japan so when I enlisted to the US military, I signed up for oversees tour to Japan as my first station. I visited the hot springs, Tokyo, Shibuya, Ginza, Akihabara, Disneyland, Universal Studios, feudal Japan live-performances and most of all the anime, car and video game conventions. I went also to Hokkaido as well. The only things that hindered me are our deployment schedules and liberty restrictions but overall my dream came true. I enjoyed my stay in Japan for over 3 years but I have to go back to US for next station. I'm planning to go back there as well because I'm not really satisfied.

I'm wondering when this will end. Well as long as theres something good to watch no matter what, the good story will still triumph.

as for me, anime had influenced me more on the mental side. i may not be aware of it at times, but at the back of my head, i am driven by some of the stuffs that ive heard and learn frm certain animes. say be it political, moral, social and even sexual.

    To add to my first post, that manga also inspired me to travel and see the world. (Yeah, not just Japan.) And, well, I'm also studying Japanese, which is a very difficult language to learn (as in!), but enjoyable nonetheless. ^^;

    Hm... where should I start?

Grabe talaga makainfluence ang anime at manga. I remember when I was young, I used to watch Inuyasha with my sisters, and before I knew it, I became addicted to ramen (and Japanese food in general). And then sometime last year, I was wondering where most of my savings and cash birthday presents from relatives went and I realized it was all because of manga/anime.

But I only realized the extent of my addiction when I went abroad last, last summer. At that time, my parents were so perplexed because when they told me about the trip, the first thing I did was to search the net for possible stores that sell manga on that area. Talk about obsessed XD

And now that I'm turning 18 this year, I'm planning on going abroad again (guess where, lol) instead of having a debut. Wow, I can't believe I became such a slave to Japanese culture.

    From Samurai X:

isang concept dito e yung "those who passed away wish only for the happiness of those they left behind". naging prinsipyo ko na to. at iyon na pinaniniwalaan ko. actually sinasabi ko to to comfort friends na namatayan.

    Form "Neon Genesis Evangelion"

Don't say "sorry" so easily to gain approval of other people. Pinapababa mo lang pagkatao mo.

The Very Common Main Idea That An Anime Or Manga Has Is The Never Say Die Attitude. Fight Until The End "ganbare".

It Also Taught Me How To Be Analytical In Situations Or Even Analyzing An Individual.

It Also Gave Me A Down To Earth Attitude In Life.

Eh, Chinese is easier than Japanese because they don't have strict grammar rules, at least according to my classmates who are studying both, and they emphasise that to me a lot whenever we have a written test. I dunno about Korean and others.

And unless you're a genius or just trying to be funny, I don't think you can become a professional in a month, not with all the kanji and grammar points to remember. Can you actually be able to pass Level 2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test after just a month of Japanese?

Wala naman masyado, I've always been entranced with j-art & culture eh. Pero dami kong natututunang kakaibang plots, & yeah, I have to admit, Slam Dunk helped me understand drat basketball more. Tsaka dami kong natututunan about mana/chi/prana & magick sa mga occult-laced anime series. Tsaka andaming kalokohang plots pala, tulad ng sa Love Hina.

The stories enhanced my courage. I am no longer afraid to meet a person who is physically superior to me in hand-to-hand combat.
