A little tribute to the fallen heroes

A little tribute to the 14 Marines that were killed in action (10 of them had mutilated bodies - trans: Napugutan ng ulo). These angels we're searching for Rev. Giancarlo Bossi following the reports that it's the Abu Sayyaf who held him hostage, so they went to Tipo-Tipo, Basilan to search for the priest. The search were futile since the search yielded negative results. They were on the way back to Isabela when their 6 by 6 truck were stuck in the mud, after that heavy firing were upon them. From 10 am to 7 pm were nothing but gunfires were heard in the place. The most unfortunate thing is that most of their mortars were not working and they were extremely overpowered. The result - 14 died and 9 wounded among the Marines. 20 died and 17 (ata?) injured among the attackers. The MILF claimed responsibility for this, but seems that they invited guests in their troops as the MILF are not known to behead their captives. I doubt that it's merely MILF who did they but a collaboration. But it doesn't matter. I pity the 14 soldiers who died just merely searching for a kidnapped priests and nothing more. Maybe we should offer some prayers for these real fighters of the people angels who risked their lives just to save a soul. May God do justice for those who attacked them. I'm sure those marines who died are in heaven RIGHT NOW.

This is merely a tribute. Those idiots who has nothing good to say about the marines who died should create another thread, NOT post on this one. Don't make this a moron's playground. Thank you!

I salute these men who live and die under harsh conditions.

Watching the coverage of GMA 7 who happened to be right in the middle of the encounter, it was pathetic to see a lot of mortar round misfiring in the the thick of the battle. I hope the government does something about this! I mean its bad enough that they were caught off-guard and outnumbered by the cowardly MILF, but that's part of the hazard they face, but for God's sake, let's equip our boys properly!

^^There was a short clip showing Marines firing mortars. Napapamura ako because a lot were misfiring. Sabi nga nung reporter mas marami pa yata ang hindi pumutok, and that there were more mortar rounds being fired from the MILF positions.

An investigation should follow on how and why this thing happened.
If the MILF is really a part of this, I guess it is time to try to eliminate them also.

There must be something in between the MILF and the ASG. As above stated, MILF is not known for beheading their captives, ASG is known for such. But MILF admitted the attack, so how do we reconcile such?

I salute those soldiers fighting and protecting their people especially for the 14 marine men who have sacrificed their lives. They were out there to find the detained captured priest, which by the way, is captured by a terrorist group. Is this just a ploy to kill more of our soldiers? I hope not.

Condolences to the family of the Marines who died in the clash. For their bravery and courage to thread the dangerous roads to rescue Fr. Bossi and even without an impending rescue operation, for doing their jobs as protectors of the people.

There should be no distinction anymore as to who to attack and annihilate for the achievement of peace in Mindanao. MILF or Abu Sayaff, destroy them all. Both of them wage terror and violence. Stop the peacetalks, it's the renegade groups who are violating its terms and conditions anyway. What is the MILF in the first place? They are not a legitimate group formed for a cause. They pursue their own ideologies in the same way as the Abu Sayaff.

Once a Marine always a Marine. May their souls rest in peace.

Islamic extremists apparently believe that a beheaded man cannot enter heaven, hence their penchant for beheading their captives.

It's possible that the MILF is colluding with the Abu Sayyaf. Besides the beheading of the marines, a ranking Abu Sayyaf leader, Isnilon Hapilon, was wounded in the encounter, and his son was apparently among those killed.

I'm not really sure if we can rely on these so-called Malaysian peacekeepers. Eh di ba, the MNLF (kung saan din nanggaling ang leadership ng MILF) was founded in Malaysia? Nagbulag-bulagan ang Malaysian government noon to divert the attention of the Philippines which was trying to recover Sabah.

I wonder why we even rely to these Indonesian or Malaysian negotiators? Why can't we resolve it ourselves? Aren't some Malaysians and Indonesians closely related to Osama Bin Laden and the Al Qaeda.

The enemies of peace here in our country are also Filipino brothers. The talks should just be among Filipinos. If we have foreign negotiators it will just give the government a weak image. It's as if the Philippine government does not know how to handle internal situations.

MILF and ASG have links, obviously, even local officials in Basilan. Wahab Akhbar, who is a former ASG founder is the current Representative of the province. Can we trust them? I don't know, but I refuse to believe.

We condone the barbaric act committed to our soldiers..

We condone the inhuman treatment of High military ranking officials on their poor soldiers because of bribery " kotong" shady deals just to procure substandard weapons.

we condone the government of not raging an "all out war " towards these "bandits"

We should therefore.. armed our generals, all high ranking personnels and let them be in the front lines so that they will remember that they were once soldiers.
