You can also use leather conditioner from Lexol or Meltonian for your nicer shoes but for a cheap pair of Hush Puppies I wouldn't bother.
leaning towards Hush Puppies pa naman ako, pero pansin ko na nga na parang hindi quality ang leather nila...

but anyway.. ever heard of these brands? accordingly they are from Brazil.

the formal leather shoes today seldom have wooden soles.

for those with wood soles, its still our local brands like leaveland and otto.
but for those with rubberized plastic soles, its sledgers and even DMs.

... up for this thread. LF a new pair of brown office shoes, my Rockports are a year old and I'm getting sick of em hehe. I only have 2 pairs of brown shoes in rotation while I have 3 pairs of black ones, I think I need to even it out. Any suggestions, may sale ba ngayon? Since I rotate my shoes naman I'm not a "I-want-my-shoes-to-last-forever" kind of guy, ok nako sa 3K na budget ... and I never pay full retail

I bought a cheap pair of brown oxford brogues from Milanos inside the SM department store. It's probably not gonna last very long but it looks nice to the untrained eye.

There's a boot version but the largest size they had was 7 (I'm a 9).

Here's an oxford cap toe closed-laced Bristol's Lance I bought from SM department store 6mos. ago. It has wooden/leather soles which gives a good click-clack sound. I compared them with the Allen Edmonds' Park Avenues and they do not differ much. Honestly, I felt more comfortable wearing these than the AE's. Even the saleslady in N.Y. could not believe it was only $70 and not $335.

They have a service shop in Market Market wherein you can replace the soles. Leather and construction is 10/10. I walked with these all over N.Y., Makati, and Ortigas without abrasion. True value for money if you want "pang-harabas" shoes.

I'm happy with my Cole Haans for daily use. Guccis and Pradas for special occassions.

I'd buy more local brands if everything weren't in black. Seriously, what is it with all the black shoes?

Hush Puppies. I have a two-year old pair that I wear in the office almost everyday yet it still looks great. Dami na nagsabi na maganda. Sobrang comfortable pa. Medyo pricey but it's worth every penny.

    Clarks din maganda.

Same here. I've had the same black captoe Bristols ballerz posted since they came out in 2008-2009 and wore them to my wedding rather than my Allen Edmonds. I've been looking for brown versions but they never seem to have them in stock, and the other brown shoes from Bristol always seem to have something off about them -- too square tipped, ugly bicycle toe, too short/too long vamp, weird wingtip shape etc.

Maybe I have to go to their Market Market shop for a better selection.

That's leather, not wood. The heel is stacked leather.

My work shoes just gave up after wearing them through the rain soaked month.

Looking to buy 2 new pairs. Comfort is number 1 priority, so I was looking into Hush Puppies, but was discouraged by what the other poster said so I'll pass on that. Durability comes a close second, I'd want the pair to last at least a year on a 2 shoe workweek rotation. Plus I drag my heels like a mofo and typically have to replace heels every 6 months.

I work in a typical office environment, longsleeves/barong everyday, suit about 6 times a year (but i borrow my bro's Park Avenues for those times).

What would you guys recommend, I was thinking a pair of loafers since I'm a lazy fvck, and a pair of proper oxfords, since I want to eventually get comfortable enough with them to wear Park Avenues full time.

I walk through broken concrete/asphalt, mud, and factory floors about an hour each day so I'm not looking to drop more than 4k a pair.

Is Bristol really that good? Thoughts on Pab Der? I'm usually a 9.5E, but I've all but given up on getting wide sizes here in the PI, I'd drop more dough if I can get wide sizes. I've pretty much deformed all my size 11 leather shoes to accommodate my pinky toe. It's not a pretty sight on the shoes.

Based on everything above, I'd recommend you get the Bristols and bring them to Mr. Quickie to get them topied. I'd also recommend you avoid wearing them in mud and gravel because that will scuff them up. Get some sneakers or rubber-soled dress shoes that you don't mind getting scuffed if you have to walk through mud/gravel.

I have two pairs of vintage made-in-England Doc Marten oxfords that I occasionally wear with smart trousers and I like the look but then I have always been fond of the hard mod/skinhead look. They would be good for the factory floor situation as the DM soles are grease/oil resistant. Regular rubber soles tend to dissolve with exposure grease/oil.

Slightly OT: where can I buy laces for leather shoes? Surprisingly, I find it hard to find the right length/style for my Rockports (most of the time too short). My best bet so far is Gibi, but they have limited branches and don't always have laces in stock.

The one I would really recommend is Pedro shoes. Even for women, they have very nice selections. People usually comment on what I wear. It was my boyfriend who introduced me to this brand.
