Hello,

I have read a lot of posts regarding work-at-home type of jobs (ie: typings jobs, paid to read emails, answering surveys, etc.) that urges us to join and claims that we will be paid in US dollars.

I really wanted to earn while at home (who doesn't), although I have a few questions.

1. Are we really going to be paid even though we are located in the Philippines?

2. Has anyone received an actual cheque or was paid in cash? Do you have proofs?

working at home as freelance graphic/logo designer or web design is a good choice but only if you got the skills. my other friend is doing a logo for some clients abroad which he get acquainted with from another forum and it pays $'s using paypal from other friends account (with commission)

I was moonlighting as a homebased ESL teacher before. Pay was ok but the company wasn't paying on time so I quit. I was paid through wire money transfer.

I'm now working as a homebased web marketer for an online jobsite based in Korea. I will be paid in a week's time so hopefully this will turn out as long-term thing. It's definitely a challenging job because this requires us to think, think, and think. We have to research and write. It's the usual 8-5 job but time is really flexible, not to mention the immediate supervisor is great. But, it is output-based so you have to deliver or else. Unfortunately, they are not hiring now.

One thing I can recommend is you look into is blogging. There are people making decent money doing it, especially if you hit a niche. You also got to be witty and really draw the reader's attention. It might take some time to calibrate what works best for you.

The problem is hindi madaling mag-build ng traffic to your blog. But let's say you do. You start adding ads to it, google has this adsense technology, where you setup an account with them, you setup ads in your blog, and you get paid whenever someone clicks one of the ads in your blog.

The problem of course, is how do you get paid. They would usually require you to have a US bank account. If you get past this hurdle though, it's easy to send money to the philippines to your peso (or dollar account) via xoom or even PNB (pnbcri.com i think).

Yes, you can be paid, but it depends on the client if he's willing to send money through electronic transfer, Western Union, or Xoom (it acts like Paypal). These are usually the choices I give them.

2. Has anyone received an actual cheque or was paid in cash? Do you have proofs?

Yes, they do send out payments. However, you have to be wary of those who don't give out any mode of payment to you before you actually start working for them. They may not be interested in paying at all.

Okay, if real job is what you're truly looking for, it's not going to be easy. It requires skill, a bit of experience and even education, time, and patience. Scams prefer shortcuts. You'll earn a decent living, but it depends on the work you put in. As they say, what you reap is what you sow. You can visit Manic on the Job. You can find numerous legitimate online work with no joining fee whatsoever. Also try international message boards and freelancing sites such as Getafreelancer.

Did you read the FAQ? Normally, answers to your questions especially referring to payment methods are answered in that page. Normally, international business sites pay through Paypal. Unfortunately, Philippines cannot accept money through Paypal. One option is to sign up with Paypal-Xoom. But I think your best recourse is to ask someone who's living in the States to open a Paypal account, send the money through him/her, and ask your friend to wire transfer your cash. It's a lengthy process, but I think that's how it should go.
