super slow. tried it on my T21 Thinkpad. Maybe in 5 years when it's more friendly towards the 'average' user.

Don't try it on older laptops like the Thinkpad 600E. Ubuntu will fry your processor.

I have it on an old pc. Ok naman. You can try a lighter Linux distribution. I'm an average user kaya ang saya ko nung na-install ko siya. First time for me kasi. Learned a lot. Thanks for trying!

I have Gnome as my desktop manager and Compiz-Fusion running. Quite happy with it. I'd like to try the KDE desktop manager. Na-try niyo ba having different desktop managers for different user accounts? Ok na kasi yung settings ng main user account ko. I don't wanna change it.

Any suggestions?

I think XP does not fully utilize the 64bit HW. It still runs on 32bit. Noticed it with the normal Ubuntu too!

You will need Windows XP Professional x64 to "fully utilize the 64bit HW."

I honestly don't find the need to change GUI's. The only reason I ever used others (Ice, Xfce) was because I was running linux on old systems that didn't have enough juice to run even gnome. I use Vector Linux, btw.

I usually just use whatever desktop environment or window manager that came with the distro.

madali lang ba gamitin ang ubuntu? will it be difficult for the user to shift from windows to ubuntu?

You don't have to install it (right away, at least). Just boot up your pc using the live cd and test it out. That's how I found out that it works great with my pc and I liked it a whole lot.
