One thing that the people behind Ubuntu GETS is that they fit the distro in only one CD as Windows XP also comes in one CD. Most of the other Linux distros come in at least 3 CDs and some of them even come in as much as 7 CDs.

Yung XP ko nung start up, hindi nagrerespond. Kaya ngayon nasa live cd ako. Walang read/write (NTFS) permissions sa live cd diba?
Bakit nagme-mail ng Ubuntu. Di ba you just d/l the image file then burn it? That's what I did.
Live CD ng XP o Ubuntu? Anong ire-read/write mo, yung CD (obviously hindi puwede) o yung XP installation?
Wala kasi akong cd writer kaya nag-request ako ng cd's. Eh libre naman kaya sinubukan ko.
Nasa Live CD ako ng ubuntu ngayon. My harddrive is in NTFS format. Yun yung nabasa ko para makasave/write ng files to a drive that is in NTFS format.
Nadetect niya agad yung mp3 player ko that's in Fat32. Pero yung usb drive, kailang may gawin pa ako sa terminal.
Almost ready to install na.![]()
for usb
either use devfsadm or volcheck
im not sure which... im not sure either kung tama nga yun command na yan. hehehe
Ubuntu comes in two CDs right? Di ba isang 'live' CD at isang 'install' CD? SimplyMEPIS is actually the one that comes in only 1 CD. It's both 'live' and 'install' in 1 CD. You can try it live first, and when it's working, you can opt to install it from within the working live system. That way, you can be sure that the installed system will run once installed.
My favorite lightweight distro is SLAX. Only 190MB download (iso). Try n'yo ang SLAX. It's one of the few live distros that actually as fast as an installed system, specially if you have plenty of RAM. What's great about it is that you can save your settings online to a SLAX server. You can then boot anywhere there is an internet connection and restore your settings from their server. I think you can even save your data, but that will take time downloading and uploading it from/to their server.
Actually isa lang. The live cd can install.
Sorry wala akong alam dyan hehe. This is my first try ng Linux.

Good for you Vness! Ako din I'm so happy with mine. It's an older release 6.04 LTS yata but I wanted to start with it kasi I figure mas marami ng help na puwede ko makuha.
I'm about to start trying to make my video stuff work now. Can you help? Ano na tini-tinker mo sa iyo?
