Season 80, Do-or-Die Final Four game of San Beda-Perpetual Help:
I was at the baseline covering the game for the school paper. Then when Arjun Cordero missed a lay-up that defined everything that game, my jaw simply dropped and I was really stunned for a few seconds. It was as if time froze and silence filled the air. Well, that was my feeling. After a few seconds, the Perpetual Help crowd roared and Noy Javier and company celebrated. The Bedans, meanwhile, sang the alma mater hymn with pride and zeal. We still stood our heads up high and no jeer from the Perpetual Help side did not stop us from being loud and proud Bedans singing the alma mater hymn. It was even said that after the Bedan hymn and the Perp crowd was still jeering the Bedans, then-Lions coach Nash Racela waved the SBC flag. Though we lost, we showed everyone what Bedan pride and brotherhood are all about.

Season 82, Game 3 of the NCAA Finals San Beda-PCU:
We all know what happened, PCU coming back from a double-digit San Beda lead and it was only when Beau Belga missed a shot from the top of the key heaved a sigh of relief and a huge roar from the Bedan crowd. San Beda ENDED 28 @ 82. And afterwards, a humongous celebration at the Mendiola campus with cars parked along Mendiola with Bedans young and old celebrated as one community. It was a helluva experience.

    Season 82, 2nd round game, San Beda-Letran:
The Red and White crowd in continuous jubiliation when Letran saw its lead diminishing and only to be taken over for good on Yousif Aljamal's breakaway layup. The roar was indeed defeaning.

May nambabato DAW ng barya sa court during the SBC-PCU finals series last year. Commish Bernardino got the mike and announced that people should be refraining from throwing coins on the court. The PCU crowd motioned at the SBC crowd. And all of a sudden, in unison, the San Beda gallery chanted: "Wala kaming barya!" It may not be the classiest act but you gotta admire the humor in the scenario. Hehehe

Tama souljah! Remember our victory cigar during the bonfire? hehe that could be the only time ever that drinking and smoking were allowed inside the campus. It was like one big house party sa loob ng campus. Ilang lechon nga ulit yun? And ilang cases ng beer? Wow! A memory of as lifetime! Eventhough mag champion ulit ang SBC this year, the celebration would never be the same.

It was the finals game between mapua and SBC, Victoria era pa noon ang San Beda.

    1) SBC VS UPHDS (F4 2004 Game 3)
It was a tight battle between the red lions and the altas. I believe it was half-way through the 3rd quarter (sbc possession). To the dismay of the san beda crowd, a player named Apor (i forgot his first name) intentionally elbowed our very own James Hudencial in his mid-section. This prompted the sbc crowd to throw coins at the UPHDS bench and Apor. Honestly, I was one of those who threw coins because I could not let someone like Apor hit a hard working player with no reason at all.

    2) SBC VS PCU (Finals 2006 Game 3)
One of the most memorable NCAA finals in recent history. The red lions controlled most of the game. They led as many as 17 (i'm not sure with this) at the end of the 3rd quarter. But the dolphins spearheaded by jason castro, made an impressive run that cut the lead to just 1. Fortunately, we won the game 68-67. That game made me very nervous that I could not believe that we won after the final buzzer.

    ===> NOW IT'S YOUR TURN
We actualy have the same favorite games

pero ang memorable sakin eh iyung SBC VS UPHDS - Arjun Cordero missed a lay up that could have sealed an overtime (or a win.. not sure though) for San Beda and send us to the finals. We los and I was there, in that sweaty, stinking, crammed Rizak colosseum..

However, what made this game so special was how we accepted defeat.. we still sang the Bedan Hymn... goosebumps mga pare... we still sang the Bedan hymn...
"BEDA TULO LAWAY!"
pero kinanta parin namin ang Bedan Hymn
    broken with defeat
    but united in Spirit

sa mga sandaling yun, dun ko nasabi sa sarile ko, I'm Damn Proud to be a Bedan...
    BEDISTA AKO

    BEDISTA AKO!!!

    [B]LETRAN VS. SSC-R 1998 NCAA FINALS

Pacheco hit 2 consecutive 3-pointers to end the 5-year reign of the stags. Christian Calaguio named MVP of the season and Kerby Raymundo named as Most Improved Player.

[B]LETRAN VS. JRU 1999 NCAA FINALS

Letran led as much as 25 points in the 4th quarter when suddenly during the halftime stage when JRU is performing their cheering stunts, Letranites threw "Hopia" and "Mineral Water" to the cheerers of JRU. President of JRU, which is the Host School, declared that they are conceding the game and Letran captured their 14th title as winningest ballclub in the NCAA. Kerby Raymundo was named MVP for that season.

sa akin nung na bale yung leg ni Salud, Center of the Mapua Cardinals...it was a do or die match against San Beda for the final slot of the Final Four ...forgot what season it was but i believe it was Arjun Cordero's last playing year...

damn that was really graphic you could actually make out Salud's broken leg bones...i still get the creeps when i think about it

  16. #56
This was not a championship game but a regular game
on the same season Salud broke his leg, it was a match between san beda and the cardinals where there was only like a 1 minute left in the game and the cardinals were down by 10 points...
With Coach Lim's full court press, Sta Maria and Guevarra of the Cardinals came with steal after steal in the dying seconds until they finally tied the game with a 3 pointer from Guevarra...did it go to overtime guys ? as i remember the winning shot came from Migrasso of the Cardinals with a nice hang time move....that was also the first time i witnessed the hugely outnumbered mapuan crowd outcheer the san bedans

I have the same choice. yung letter a sa rizal yun.si pacheco napaka nerbyoso.laging naagawan ng bola.

Yung iba ata may laman pa..hehe

I have two games in mind; one was in 96 regular game and the other was in 97. I was in HS then and I fondly remember them since I rarely watch Senior games and just watch Juniors most of the time (RenRen and Mesina was still in SBC then)

First one was in 96, a regular season game bet SBC and SSC. The Stags were champs then and was close to unbeatable... but what made this game good was because of how the red lions were able to come back into the game and and lower the lead to 2 pts with a few seconds remaining... Rodney Santos was fouled and he missed both free throws! San Beda got the rebound and quickly passed to Rensy Bajar with 3 or 4 seconds remaining (ive never seen a guy run that fast!) he went from one side of the court to the other for the lay up that tied the game and forced OT! From then on momentum was on our side and we won! It was special since it was the every first college game that I saw live and it was incredible how we won!

Second was in the 97 NCAA Finals against those same Stags (w/o Santos) the Stags were unbeaten after two rounds, with a 14-0 record they were given an outright seat in the finals with a twice to beat advantage (those were the rules!) We made it to the finals after beating two other teams. The game itself was very close and intense, I still remember Gonzales rejecting some of Adducul's shot attempts at the start of the game! The line up for both teams was liek this:

    Ralph Rivera - Jasper Ocampo
    Rensy Bajar - Ulysses Tanigue
    McCoy - Brxiter Encarnacion
    Dino Manuel - Banjo Calpito
    Norman Gonzales - Rommel Adducul

But the game was decided from someone on the RL bench and that was Barredo, he made a game winning shot (3 pointer?) that sealed the game and gave the stags their 1st defeat for that season! Too bad we lost the next game but it was really memorable! I even remember seeing headlines in leading newspapers about the game!

Of course last year's finals was one of the best ever! I have never seen nor will forget the sight of the whole Araneta filled with RED while cheering as ONE the moment Aljamal secured the last rebound and throwing the ball in the air signaling that we are champions again after 28 long years...
