that Acer has a single-core low voltage processor. Good for 7-8 hours of battery life. It's like a bigger netbook but more powerful than an atom processor in netbooks. This Acer does not have a DVD drive either. (if it does it will be an external USB DVD drive) Depending on your usage or needs because those two laptops are not in the same class.
The Lenovo is an all around laptop with half the battery life (perhaps less). and heavier. But the P600 I believe is a dual-core processor.
i have two laptop model on the top of my list, still udecided though.
Asus K42JK or the Samsung laptop (black and red one)
both core i3 pero mas affordable ang ASUS..
any comment po. thanks.![]()
ooohhh.... i'm learning from this thread hehehehe
i am also eyeing the samsung r439, comparing it to msi cx420. i think the samsung is more durable. and the price is just right at 30K. just my 2 cents![]()
I need expert opinion.
My HP Compaq NC4000 served me well for the last six years and I feel that it is at its last hours. Lately, I had encountered problems with it (errors, battery problems, etc.)
So, I am planning to buy a new portable computer (laptop). I do not know the latest technology and developments on computers, that is why I am seeking some professional and expert help. I am in need of a laptop apt for:
a. various multimedia functions such as photo and video editing (i.e. Photoshop, Premiere Pro)
b. business (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, Reader)
c. gaming and entertainment (i.e. Starcraft 2, movies)
d. multitasking
e. web browsing
I am also very particular about speed (of course), storage capacity (approx 500GB) and the screen resolution. As much as possible, a screen like that of a MacBook. Is it LED display? I am not sure. Running Windows 7, too.
Thanks in advance.
Btw, the budget is PhP 40,000.00. Though, I am much more than willing to shell out an additional PhP 10,000.00 for a more quality, performance-driven computer.

Ito maganda din but it's a little pricey and I'm not sure if it's already available here in the Philippines : http://www.pinoytechblog.com/archive...nology+Blog%29
It's almost at PhP 56,000.00. Impressive specifications and features, though, I prefer the 13-inch MacBook Pro over this for some reason. Argh. Decisions. Decisions.
^ I almost bought the 13 inch MacBookPro too. Ang ganda ng screen nun and it's just the right size for me. I just wasn't sure if I'm ready to swith to a Mac just yet ... perhaps in 3 years time hehe.![]()
Say, di ba bawal ang mag install ng pirated softwares sa Mac, and they are prone to virus than Windows-based computers?![]()
Okay yang Asus K42JKWhat I would suggest is that you take a good look at the screen, as it's 14 inch HD 16:9 , which means it's actually shorter ( in terms of height ) than say a 14.1 inch widescreen display or a 14 inch laptop with a regular screen. Mas maliit yung screen , if that doesn't bother you ( it doesn't bother me at all as I actually like the size ) then go ahead and get it. Otherwise get a K52xx series if you want a larger 15.6 HD 16:9 display. Sound quality is okay, not the best but not terrible. Screen is gorgeous. Keypad is comfortable to use. Good build quality, I'm speaking as someone who's used Compaq and HP laptops in the past.
If you're looking for alternatives , I would recommend Toshiba laptops. They cost more though.
I don't want to get in trouble, but I hear that's not necessarily the case lolz. Mac users here in the Philippines are more likely to buy original software when necessary, at least that's what I've been hearing/reading.
Hmm, re: viruses, there's a very interesting thread about that at PhilMUG. If I understand it correctly, the Mac OS itself is not prone to viruses, though viruses can enter a Mac , and can become a problem if for example a Mac shares media files ( for example through a flash drive ) with a Windows machine. A Mac isn't necessarily hacker proof either.
I'm no Mac expert though so you'll have to take what I say with a grain of salt.
I am adamant to ask in Mac threads. Them fanboys just won't accept any Mac flaws. In any case, thanks. Seriously considering Asus now.
^ To be fair, some of them Mac fans at PhilMUG are relatively reasonable, you just need to know who to ask.But yeah, Asus is good, I love my Asus laptop.
Acer's good too.
Excuse my ignorance but anong laptop yung may Q na logo sa cover?
Compaq
